| ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਲ ਸਰਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹਹਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਿਖ ਅਭਿਆਗਤ ਜਾਇ ਵਰਸਾਤੇ ॥ |
| thin kae ghar mandhar mehal saraaee sabh pavith hehi jinee guramukh saevak sikh abhiaagath jaae varasaathae || |
| All the homes, temples, palaces and way-stations are sacred, where the Gurmukhs, the selfless servants, the Sikhs and the renouncers of the world, go and take their rest. |

| thin kae thurae jeen khurageer sabh pavith hehi jinee guramukh sikh saadhh santh charr jaathae || |
| All the horses, saddles and horse blankets are sacred, upon which the Gurmukhs, the Sikhs, the Holy and the Saints, mount and ride. |

| ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹਹਿ ਜੋ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਤੇ ॥ |
| thin kae karam dhharam kaaraj sabh pavith hehi jo bolehi har har raam naam har saathae || |
| All the rituals and Dharmic practices and deeds are sacred, for those who utter the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the True Name of the Lord. |

| ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਪੋਤੈ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਸੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਤੇ ॥੧੬॥ |
| jin kai pothai punn hai sae guramukh sikh guroo pehi jaathae ||16|| |
| Those Gurmukhs, those Sikhs, who have purity as their treasure, go to their Guru. ||16|| |

| O Nanak, forsaking the Name, he loses everything, in this world and the next. |

| ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਇਆ ਮੁਠੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ |

| Chanting, deep meditation and austere self-disciplined practices are all wasted; he is deceived by the love of duality. |

| santhaa naal vair kamaavadhae dhusattaa naal mohu piaar || |
| They inflict their hatred upon the Saints, and they love the wicked sinners. |

| ਅਗੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥ |
| agai pishhai sukh nehee mar janmehi vaaro vaar || |
| They find no peace in either this world or the next; they are born only to die, again and again. |
|
| ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਬੁਝਈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ |
| thrisanaa kadhae n bujhee dhubidhhaa hoe khuaar || |
| Their hunger is never satisfied, and they are ruined by duality. |
|
| ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਤਿਨਾ ਨਿੰਦਕਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਸਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥ |
| muh kaalae thinaa nindhakaa thith sachai dharabaar || |
| The faces of these slanderers are blackened in the Court of the True Lord. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਨਾ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ |

| jo har naam dhhiaaeidhae sae har har naam rathae man maahee || |
| Those who meditate on the Lord's Name are imbued with the Name of the Lord Har, Har, in their minds. |

| ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਇਕਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| jinaa man chith eik araadhhiaa thinaa eikas bin dhoojaa ko naahee || |
| For those who worship the One Lord in their conscious minds, there is no other than the One Lord. |
|
| ਸੇਈ ਪੁਰਖ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਜਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਾਹੀ ॥ |
| saeee purakh har saevadhae jin dhhur masathak laekh likhaahee || |
| They alone serve the Lord, upon whose foreheads such pre-ordained destiny is written. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਣੀ ਸਮਝਾਹੀ ॥ |
| har kae gun nith gaavadhae har gun gaae gunee samajhaahee || |
| They continually sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and singing the Glories of the Glorious Lord, they are uplifted. |
|
| ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਡੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥੧੭॥ |
| vaddiaaee vaddee guramukhaa gur poorai har naam samaahee ||17|| |
| Great is the greatness of the Gurmukhs, who, through the Perfect Guru, remain absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||17|| |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਗਾਖੜੀ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ |
| sathigur kee saevaa gaakharree sir dheejai aap gavaae || |
| It is very difficult to serve the True Guru; offer your head, and eradicate self-conceit. |

| ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨਾ ਮਰਹਿ ਤਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਪਵੈ ਸਭ ਥਾਇ ॥ |
| sabadh marehi fir naa marehi thaa saevaa pavai sabh thhaae || |
| One who dies in the Word of the Shabad shall never have to die again; his service is totally approved. |
|
| ਪਾਰਸ ਪਰਸਿਐ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| paaras parasiai paaras hovai sach rehai liv laae || |
| Touching the philosopher's stone, one becomes the philosopher's stone, which transforms lead into gold; remain lovingly attached to the True Lord. |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇ ॥ |
| jis poorab hovai likhiaa this sathigur milai prabh aae || |
| One who has such pre-ordained destiny, comes to meet the True Guru and God. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਗਣਤੈ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਖਸੇ ਸੋ ਪਵੈ ਥਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak ganathai saevak naa milai jis bakhasae so pavai thhaae ||1|| |
| O Nanak, the Lord's servant does not meet Him because of his own account; he alone is acceptable, whom the Lord forgives. ||1|| |

| mehal kumehal n jaananee moorakh apanai suaae || |
| The fools do not know the difference between good and bad; they are deceived by their self-interests. |

| ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨਹਿ ਤਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਲਹਹਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ |
| sabadh cheenehi thaa mehal lehehi jothee joth samaae || |
| But if they contemplate the Word of the Shabad, they obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and their light merges in the Light. |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸਚੇ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਾ ਸਭਾ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| sadhaa sachae kaa bho man vasai thaa sabhaa sojhee paae || |
| The Fear of God is always on their minds, and so they come to understand everything. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਣੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ |
| sathigur apanai ghar varathadhaa aapae leae milaae || |
| The True Guru is pervading the homes within; He Himself blends them with the Lord. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਭ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak sathigur miliai sabh pooree pee jis no kirapaa karae rajaae ||2|| |
| O Nanak, they meet the True Guru, and all their desires are fulfilled, if the Lord grants His Grace and so wills. ||2|| |

| Blessed, blessed is the good fortune of those devotees, who, with their mouths, utter the Name of the Lord. |

| ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਭਾਗ ਤਿਨਾ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਣਤਿਆ ॥ |
| dhhan dhhan bhaag thinaa santh janaa jo har jas sravanee sunathiaa || |
| Blessed, blessed is the good fortune of those Saints, who, with their ears, listen to the Lord's Praises. |

| ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਭਾਗ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਣੀ ਜਨ ਬਣਤਿਆ ॥ |
| dhhan dhhan bhaag thinaa saadhh janaa har keerathan gaae gunee jan banathiaa || |
| Blessed, blessed is the good fortune of those holy people, who sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, and so become virtuous. |

| ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਭਾਗ ਤਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਲੈ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਣਤਿਆ ॥ |
| dhhan dhhan bhaag thinaa guramukhaa jo gurasikh lai man jinathiaa || |
| Blessed, blessed is the good fortune of those Gurmukhs, who live as Gursikhs, and conquer their minds. |
|
| ਸਭ ਦੂ ਵਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਸਿਖ ਪੜਤਿਆ ॥੧੮॥ |
| sabh dhoo vaddae bhaag gurasikhaa kae jo gur charanee sikh parrathiaa ||18|| |
| But the greatest good fortune of all, is that of the Guru's Sikhs, who fall at the Guru's feet. ||18|| |

| One who knows God, and who lovingly focuses his attention on the One Word of the Shabad, keeps his spirituality intact. |

| ਨਵ ਨਿਧੀ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਸਿਧੀ ਪਿਛੈ ਲਗੀਆ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਦਾ ਵਸਾਇ ॥ |
| nav nidhhee athaareh sidhhee pishhai lageeaa firehi jo har hiradhai sadhaa vasaae || |
| The nine treasures and the eighteen spiritual powers of the Siddhas follow him, who keeps the Lord enshrined in his heart. |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਉ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬੁਝਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ |
| bin sathigur naao n paaeeai bujhahu kar veechaar || |
| Without the True Guru, the Name is not found; understand this, and reflect upon it. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak poorai bhaag sathigur milai sukh paaeae jug chaar ||1|| |
| O Nanak, through perfect good destiny, one meets the True Guru, and finds peace, throughout the four ages. ||1|| |

| kiaa gabharoo kiaa biradhh hai manamukh thrisanaa bhukh n jaae || |
| Whether he is young or old, the self-willed manmukh cannot escape hunger and thirst. |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਰਤਿਆ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਏ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ |
| guramukh sabadhae rathiaa seethal hoeae aap gavaae || |
| The Gurmukhs are imbued with the Word of the Shabad; they are at peace, having lost their self-conceit. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak j guramukh karehi so paravaan hai jo naam rehae liv laae ||2|| |
| O Nanak, whatever the Gurmukhs do is acceptable; they remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2|| |

| I am a sacrifice to those Sikhs who are Gurmukhs. |

| jo har naam dhhiaaeidhae thin dharasan pikhaa || |
| I behold the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of those who meditate on the Lord's Name. |

| ਸੁਣਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਲਿਖਾ ॥ |
| sun keerathan har gun ravaa har jas man likhaa || |
| Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, I contemplate His virtues; I write His Praises on the fabric of my mind. |
