| ਰੇ ਜਨ ਉਥਾਰੈ ਦਬਿਓਹੁ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਗਈ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ |
| rae jan outhhaarai dhabiouhu suthiaa gee vihaae || |
| O man, you have been tormented by a nightmare, and you have passed your life in sleep. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਨ ਜਾਗਿਓ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਚਾਉ ॥ |
| sathigur kaa sabadh sun n jaagiou anthar n oupajiou chaao || |
| You did not wake to hear the Word of the True Guru's Shabad; you have no inspiration within yourself. |

| ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜਲਉ ਗੁਣ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਨ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ |
| sareer jalo gun baaharaa jo gur kaar n kamaae || |
| That body burns, which has no virtue, and which does not serve the Guru. |
|
| ਜਗਤੁ ਜਲੰਦਾ ਡਿਠੁ ਮੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ |
| jagath jalandhaa ddith mai houmai dhoojai bhaae || |
| I have seen that the world is burning, in egotism and the love of duality. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak gur saranaaee oubarae sach man sabadh dhhiaae ||1|| |
| O Nanak, those who seek the Guru's Sanctuary are saved; within their minds, they meditate on the True Word of the Shabad. ||1|| |

|
| ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਈ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ |
| sabadh rathae houmai gee sobhaavanthee naar || |
| Attuned to the Word of the Shabad, the soul-bride is rid of egotism, and she is glorified. |

| ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਦਾ ਚਲੈ ਤਾ ਬਨਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ |
| pir kai bhaanai sadhaa chalai thaa baniaa seegaar || |
| If she walks steadily in the way of His Will, then she is adorned with decorations. |
|
| ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ |
| saej suhaavee sadhaa pir raavai har var paaeiaa naar || |
| Her couch becomes beautiful, and she constantly enjoys her Husband Lord; she obtains the Lord as her Husband. |
|
| ਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਕਦੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ |
| naa har marai n kadhae dhukh laagai sadhaa suhaagan naar || |
| The Lord does not die, and she never suffers pain; she is a happy soul-bride forever. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੨॥ |

| O Nanak, the Lord God unites her with Himself; she enshrines love and affection for the Guru. ||2|| |

| ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਤੇ ਨਰ ਬੁਰਿਆਰੀ ॥ |
| jinaa gur gopiaa aapanaa thae nar buriaaree || |
| Those who conceal and deny their Guru, are the most evil people. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪਾਪਿਸਟ ਹਤਿਆਰੀ ॥ |
| har jeeo thin kaa dharasan naa karahu paapisatt hathiaaree || |
| O Dear Lord, let me not even see them; they are the worst sinners and murderers. |
|
| ਓਹਿ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਕੁਸੁਧ ਮਨਿ ਜਿਉ ਧਰਕਟ ਨਾਰੀ ॥ |
| ouhi ghar ghar firehi kusudhh man jio dhharakatt naaree || |
| They wander from house to house, with impure minds, like wicked, forsaken women. |
|
| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ |
| vaddabhaagee sangath milae guramukh savaaree || |
| But by great good fortune, they may meet the Company of the Holy; as Gurmukhs, they are reformed. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੨੩॥ |
| har maelahu sathigur dhaeiaa kar gur ko balihaaree ||23|| |
| O Lord, please be kind and let me meet the True Guru; I am a sacrifice to the Guru. ||23|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਆਇ ॥ |
| gur saevaa thae sukh oopajai fir dhukh n lagai aae || |
| Serving the Guru, peace is produced, and then, one does not suffer in pain. |
|
| ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਇਆ ਕਾਲੈ ਕਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਬਸਾਇ ॥ |
| janman maranaa mitt gaeiaa kaalai kaa kishh n basaae || |
| The cycle of birth and death is brought to an end, and death has no power over at all. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਚੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ |
| har saethee man rav rehiaa sachae rehiaa samaae || |
| His mind is imbued with the Lord, and he remains merged in the True Lord. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਚਲਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak ho balihaaree thinn ko jo chalan sathigur bhaae ||1|| |
| O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who walk in the Way of the True Guru's Will. ||1|| |

| She does not know the value of her Husband Lord; she is attached to the love of duality. |

| ਸਾ ਕੁਸੁਧ ਸਾ ਕੁਲਖਣੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਰੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਕੁਨਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ |
| saa kusudhh saa kulakhanee naanak naaree vich kunaar ||2|| |
| She is impure, and ill-mannered, O Nanak; among women, she is the most evil woman. ||2|| |

| har naam dhhiaaee har oucharaa har laahaa lainee || |
| May I meditate on the Lord's Name, chant the Lord's Name, and obtain the profit of the Lord's Name. |

| ਜੋ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਹਉ ਕੁਰਬੈਣੀ ॥ |
| jo japadhae har har dhinas raath thin ho kurabainee || |
| I am a sacrifice to those who chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, day and night. |
|
| ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਾ ਨੈਣੀ ॥ |
| jinaa sathigur maeraa piaaraa araadhhiaa thin jan dhaekhaa nainee || |
| May I behold with my eyes those who worship and adore my Beloved True Guru. |

| ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਅਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਉ ਜਿਨਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਸੈਣੀ ॥੨੪॥ |
| ho vaariaa apanae guroo ko jin maeraa har sajan maeliaa sainee ||24|| |
| I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who has united me with my Lord, my friend, my very best friend. ||24|| |

| har dhaasan sio preeth hai har dhaasan ko mith || |
| The Lord loves His slaves; the Lord is the friend of His slaves. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਉ ਜੰਤੀ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਜੰਤੁ ॥ |
| har dhaasan kai vas hai jio janthee kai vas janth || |
| The Lord is under the control of His slaves, like the musical instrument under the control of the musician. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹੁ ॥ |
| har kae dhaas har dhhiaaeidhae kar preetham sio naehu || |
| The Lord's slaves meditate on the Lord; they love their Beloved. |
|
| ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਸੈ ਮੇਹੁ ॥ |
| kirapaa kar kai sunahu prabh sabh jag mehi varasai maehu || |
| Please, hear me, O God - let Your Grace rain over the whole world. |
|
| ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ |
| jo har dhaasan kee ousathath hai saa har kee vaddiaaee || |
| The praise of the Lord's slaves is the Glory of the Lord. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭਾਵਦੀ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ਕਰਾਈ ॥ |
| har aapanee vaddiaaee bhaavadhee jan kaa jaikaar karaaee || |
| The Lord loves His Own Glory, and so His humble servant is celebrated and hailed. |
|
| ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਇਕ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥ |
| so har jan naam dhhiaaeidhaa har har jan eik samaan || |
| That humble servant of the Lord meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Lord, and the Lord's humble servant, are one and the same. |
|
| ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਹੁ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੧॥ |
| jan naanak har kaa dhaas hai har paij rakhahu bhagavaan ||1|| |
| Servant Nanak is the slave of the Lord; O Lord, O God, please, preserve his honor. ||1|| |

| Nanak loves the True Lord; without Him, he cannot even survive. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| sathigur milai th pooraa paaeeai har ras rasan rasaaee ||2|| |
| Meeting the True Guru, one finds the Perfect Lord, and the tongue enjoys the sublime essence of the Lord. ||2|| |

| jeea janth sarabath naao thaeraa dhhiaavanaa || |
| All beings and creatures meditate on Your Name. |
|
| ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਖਾਵਣਾ ॥ |
| thoo dhaathaa dhaathaar thaeraa dhithaa khaavanaa || |
| You are the Giver, the Great Giver; we eat whatever You give us. |
|
| ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਪ ਗਵਾਵਣਾ ॥ |
| bhagath janaa kai sang paap gavaavanaa || |
| In the congregation of the devotees, sins are eradicated. |
|
| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵਣਾ ॥੨੫॥ |
| jan naanak sadh balihaarai bal bal jaavanaa ||25|| |
| Servant Nanak is forever a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, O Lord. ||25|| |
