		| jaa ko guramukh aap bujhaaee || | 
	
	
		| The Lord causes the Gurmukh to understand; |

		| ਤਾ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥  |

		| by which you erased your inscription of doubt? |

		| The son has given birth to his father; |

		| ਬਿਨੁ ਠਾਹਰ ਨਗਰੁ ਬਸਾਇਆ ॥੨॥  | 
	
	
		| bin thaahar nagar basaaeiaa ||2|| | 
	
	
		| without a place, the city has been established. ||2|| |

		| ਜਾਚਕ ਜਨ ਦਾਤਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥  | 
	
	
		| jaachak jan dhaathaa paaeiaa || | 
	
	
		| The humble beggar has found the Great Giver, | 
	
	
		  | 
	
			
		
	
	
		| ਸੋ ਦੀਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਖਾਇਆ ॥  | 
	
	
		| so dheeaa n jaaee khaaeiaa || | 
	
	
		| but he is unable to eat what he has been given. | 
	
	
		  | 
	
			
		
	
	
		| ਛੋਡਿਆ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਮੂਕਾ ॥  | 
	
	
		| shhoddiaa jaae n mookaa || | 
	
	
		| He cannot leave it alone, but it is never exhausted. |

		| ਅਉਰਨ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਨਾ ਚੂਕਾ ॥੩॥  | 
	
	
		| aouran pehi jaanaa chookaa ||3|| | 
	
	
		| He shall not go to beg from others any longer. ||3|| |

		| ਜੋ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਰਨਾ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ਸੋ ਪੰਚ ਸੈਲ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਨੈ ॥  | 
	
	
		| jo jeevan maranaa jaanai || so panch sail sukh maanai || | 
	
	
		| Those select few, who know how to die while yet alive, enjoy great peace. |

		| What use is it to listen to the Vedas and the Puraanas? |

		| What use is reading and listening, |

		| ਜਉ ਸਹਜ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥  |
