| theenae oujaarrae kaa bandhh ||2|| |
| The three of them devise their own destruction. ||2|| |

| ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੋ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ |
| so jogee jo jugath pashhaanai || |
| He alone is a Yogi, who understands the Way. |
 |
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee eaeko jaanai || |
| By Guru's Grace, he knows the One Lord. |
 |
| ਕਾਜੀ ਸੋ ਜੋ ਉਲਟੀ ਕਰੈ ॥ |
| kaajee so jo oulattee karai || |
| He alone is a Qazi, who turns away from the world, |
 |
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee jeevath marai || |
| and who, by Guru's Grace, remains dead while yet alive. |
 |
| ਸੋ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਜੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥ |
| so braahaman jo breham beechaarai || |
| He alone is a Brahmin, who contemplates God. |
 |
| ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੩॥ |
| aap tharai sagalae kul thaarai ||3|| |
| He saves himself, and saves all his generations as well. ||3|| |
 |
| ਦਾਨਸਬੰਦੁ ਸੋਈ ਦਿਲਿ ਧੋਵੈ ॥ |
| dhaanasabandh soee dhil dhhovai || |
| One who cleanses his own mind is wise. |
 |
| ਮੁਸਲਮਾਣੁ ਸੋਈ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਵੈ ॥ |
| musalamaan soee mal khovai || |
| One who cleanses himself of impurity is a Muslim. |
 |
| ਪੜਿਆ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ |
| parriaa boojhai so paravaan || |
| One who reads and understands is acceptable. |
 |
| ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਕਾ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੫॥੭॥ |
| jis sir dharageh kaa neesaan ||4||5||7|| |
| Upon his forehead is the Insignia of the Court of the Lord. ||4||5||7|| |

| No, no, this is not the time, when people know the way to Yoga and Truth. |

| ਥਾਨਸਟ ਜਗ ਭਰਿਸਟ ਹੋਏ ਡੂਬਤਾ ਇਵ ਜਗੁ ॥੧॥ |
| thhaanasatt jag bharisatt hoeae ddoobathaa eiv jag ||1|| |
| The holy places of worship in the world are polluted, and so the world is drowning. ||1|| |

| ਕਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ |
| kal mehi raam naam saar || |
| In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Lord's Name is the most sublime. |

| ਅਖੀ ਤ ਮੀਟਹਿ ਨਾਕ ਪਕੜਹਿ ਠਗਣ ਕਉ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| akhee th meettehi naak pakarrehi thagan ko sansaar ||1|| rehaao || |
| Some people try to deceive the world by closing their eyes and holding their nostrils closed. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮਗਰ ਪਾਛੈ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਏਹੁ ਪਦਮੁ ਅਲੋਅ ॥੨॥ |
| magar paashhai kashh n soojhai eaehu padham aloa ||2|| |
| But they cannot even see what is behind them. What a strange lotus pose this is! ||2|| |

| ਖਤ੍ਰੀਆ ਤ ਧਰਮੁ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਮਲੇਛ ਭਾਖਿਆ ਗਹੀ ॥ |
| khathreeaa th dhharam shhoddiaa malaeshh bhaakhiaa gehee || |
| The K'shatriyas have abandoned their religion, and have adopted a foreign language. |

| ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਇਕ ਵਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਰਹੀ ॥੩॥ |
| srisatt sabh eik varan hoee dhharam kee gath rehee ||3|| |
| The whole world has been reduced to the same social status; the state of righteousness and Dharma has been lost. ||3|| |

| ਅਸਟ ਸਾਜ ਸਾਜਿ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸੋਧਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੇਦ ਅਭਿਆਸੁ ॥ |
| asatt saaj saaj puraan sodhhehi karehi baedh abhiaas || |
| They analyze eight chapters of (Panini's grammar and the Puraanas. They study the Vedas, |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ॥੪॥੧॥੬॥੮॥ |
| bin naam har kae mukath naahee kehai naanak dhaas ||4||1||6||8|| |
| but without the Lord's Name, no one is liberated; so says Nanak, the Lord's slave. ||4||1||6||8|| |

| gagan mai thhaal rav chandh dheepak banae thaarikaa manddal janak mothee || |
| In the bowl of the sky, the sun and moon are the lamps; the stars in the constellations are the pearls. |

| ਧੂਪੁ ਮਲਆਨਲੋ ਪਵਣੁ ਚਵਰੋ ਕਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਬਨਰਾਇ ਫੂਲੰਤ ਜੋਤੀ ॥੧॥ |
| dhhoop malaaanalo pavan chavaro karae sagal banaraae foolanth jothee ||1|| |
| The fragrance of sandalwood is the incense, the wind is the fan, and all the vegetation are flowers in offering to You, O Luminous Lord. ||1|| |

| ਕੈਸੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਤੀ ॥ |
| kaisee aarathee hoe bhav khanddanaa thaeree aarathee || |
| What a beautiful lamp-lit worship service this is! O Destroyer of fear, this is Your Aartee, Your worship service. |

| ਅਨਹਤਾ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਜੰਤ ਭੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| The sound current of the Shabad is the sounding of the temple drums. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਨੈਨ ਨਨ ਨੈਨ ਹੈ ਤੋਹਿ ਕਉ ਸਹਸ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਨਨਾ ਏਕ ਤੋਹੀ ॥ |
| sehas thav nain nan nain hai thohi ko sehas moorath nanaa eaek thohee || |
| Thousands are Your eyes, and yet You have no eyes. Thousands are Your forms, and yet You have not even one form. |

| ਸਹਸ ਪਦ ਬਿਮਲ ਨਨ ਏਕ ਪਦ ਗੰਧ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਗੰਧ ਇਵ ਚਲਤ ਮੋਹੀ ॥੨॥ |
| sehas padh bimal nan eaek padh gandhh bin sehas thav gandhh eiv chalath mohee ||2|| |
| Thousands are Your lotus feet, and yet You have no feet. Without a nose, thousands are Your noses. I am enchanted with Your play! ||2|| |

| ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| sabh mehi joth joth hai soe || |
| The Divine Light is within everyone; You are that Light. |

| ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਚਾਨਣਿ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| this kai chaanan sabh mehi chaanan hoe || |
| Yours is that Light which shines within everyone. |
 |
| ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| gur saakhee joth paragatt hoe || |
| By the Guru's Teachings, this Divine Light is revealed. |
 |
| ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ |
| jo this bhaavai s aarathee hoe ||3|| |
| That which pleases the Lord is the true worship service. ||3|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਕਰੰਦ ਲੋਭਿਤ ਮਨੋ ਅਨਦਿਨੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਆਹੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥ |
| har charan kamal makarandh lobhith mano anadhino mohi aahee piaasaa || |
| My soul is enticed by the honey-sweet lotus feet of the Lord; night and day, I thirst for them. |

| ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਲੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥੯॥ |
| kirapaa jal dhaehi naanak saaring ko hoe jaa thae thaerai naam vaasaa ||4||1||7||9|| |
| Bless Nanak, the thirsty song-bird, with the water of Your Mercy, that he may come to dwell in Your Name. ||4||1||7||9|| |

| This wealth is inexhaustible. It shall never be exhausted, and it shall never be lost. |

| poorai sathigur dheeaa dhikhaae || |
| The Perfect True Guru has revealed it to me. |

| ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| apunae sathigur ko sadh bal jaaee || |
| I am forever a sacrifice to my True Guru. |

| ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| gur kirapaa thae har mann vasaaee ||1|| |
| By Guru's Grace, I have enshrined the Lord within my mind. ||1|| |

| ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| sae dhhanavanth har naam liv laae || |
| They alone are wealthy, who lovingly attune themselves to the Lord's Name. |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| gur poorai har dhhan paragaasiaa har kirapaa thae vasai man aae || rehaao || |
| The Perfect Guru has revealed to me the Lord's treasure; by the Lord's Grace, it has come to abide in my mind. ||Pause|| |

| ਅਵਗੁਣ ਕਾਟਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ |
| avagun kaatt gun ridhai samaae || |
| He is rid of his demerits, and his heart is permeated with merit and virtue. |

| ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ |
| poorae gur kai sehaj subhaae || |
| By Guru's Grace, he naturally dwells in celestial peace. |

| ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ |
| poorae gur kee saachee baanee || |
| True is the Word of the Perfect Guru's Bani. |

| ਸੁਖ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੨॥ |
| sukh man anthar sehaj samaanee ||2|| |
| They bring peace to the mind, and celestial peace is absorbed within. ||2|| |

| ਏਕੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| eaek acharaj jan dhaekhahu bhaaee || |
| O my humble Siblings of Destiny, behold this strange and wonderful thing: |

| ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥ |
| dhubidhhaa maar har mann vasaaee || |
| duality is overcome, and the Lord dwells within his mind. |
