| ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥ |
| kaachaa dhhan sanchehi moorakh gaavaar || |
| The ignorant fools amass false wealth. |

| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਅੰਧ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥ |
| manamukh bhoolae andhh gaavaar || |
| The blind, foolish, self-willed manmukhs have gone astray. |

| ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਧਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| bikhiaa kai dhhan sadhaa dhukh hoe || |
| Poisonous wealth brings constant pain. |
|
| ਨਾ ਸਾਥਿ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naa saathh jaae n paraapath hoe ||1|| |
| It will not go with you, and it will not yield any profit. ||1|| |

| ਸਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| saachaa dhhan guramathee paaeae || |
| True wealth is obtained through the Guru's Teachings. |
|
| ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kaachaa dhhan fun aavai jaaeae || rehaao || |
| False wealth continues coming and going. ||Pause|| |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਭਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਗਵਾਰ ॥ |
| manamukh bhoolae sabh marehi gavaar || |
| The foolish self-willed manmukhs all go astray and die. |
|
| ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੂਬੇ ਨ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ॥ |
| bhavajal ddoobae n ouravaar n paar || |
| They drown in the terrifying world-ocean, and they cannot reach either this shore, or the one beyond. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ॥ |
| sathigur bhaettae poorai bhaag || |
| But by perfect destiny, they meet the True Guru; |
|
| ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ ॥੨॥ |
| saach rathae ahinis bairaag ||2|| |
| imbued with the True Name, day and night, they remain detached from the world. ||2|| |
|
| ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ |
| chahu jug mehi anmrith saachee baanee || |
| Throughout the four ages, the True Bani of His Word is Ambrosial Nectar. |

| ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ |
| poorai bhaag har naam samaanee || |
| By perfect destiny, one is absorbed in the True Name. |
|
| ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਤਰਸਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਇ ॥ |
| sidhh saadhhik tharasehi sabh loe || |
| The Siddhas, the seekers and all men long for the Name. |
|
| ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ |
| poorai bhaag paraapath hoe ||3|| |
| It is obtained only by perfect destiny. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| sabh kishh saachaa saachaa hai soe || |
| The True Lord is everything; He is True. |
|
| ਊਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| ootham breham pashhaanai koe || |
| Only a few realize the exalted Lord God. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਏ ॥੪॥੭॥ |

| The value and worth of the Lord's Name cannot be described. |

| ਸੇ ਜਨ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਇਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| sae jan dhhann jin eik naam liv laae || |
| Blessed are those humble beings, who lovingly focus their minds on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. |

| ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ |
| guramath saachee saachaa veechaar || |
| True are the Guru's Teachings, and True is contemplative meditation. |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ |
| aapae bakhasae dhae veechaar ||1|| |
| God Himself forgives, and bestows contemplative meditation. ||1|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥ |
| har naam acharaj prabh aap sunaaeae || |
| The Lord's Name is wonderful! God Himself imparts it. |
|
| ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kalee kaal vich guramukh paaeae ||1|| rehaao || |
| In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Gurmukhs obtain it. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| ham moorakh moorakh man maahi || |
| We are ignorant; ignorance fills our minds. |
|
| ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| houmai vich sabh kaar kamaahi || |
| We do all our deeds in ego. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹੰਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee hanoumai jaae || |
| By Guru's Grace, egotism is eradicated. |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| aapae bakhasae leae milaae ||2|| |
| Forgiving us, the Lord blends us with Himself. ||2|| |

| ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕਾ ਧਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| bikhiaa kaa dhhan bahuth abhimaan || |
| Poisonous wealth gives rise to great arrogance. |
|
| ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਡੂਬੈ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| ahankaar ddoobai n paavai maan || |
| Drowning in egotism, no one is honored. |
|
| ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| aap shhodd sadhaa sukh hoee || |
| Forsaking self-conceit, one finds lasting peace. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥ |
| guramath saalaahee sach soee ||3|| |
| Under Guru's Instruction, he praises the True Lord. ||3|| |

| ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| aapae saajae karathaa soe || |
| The Creator Lord Himself fashions all. |
|
| ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| this bin dhoojaa avar n koe || |
| Without Him, there is no other at all. |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ |
| jis sach laaeae soee laagai || |
| He alone is attached to Truth, whom the Lord Himself so attaches. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ॥੪॥੮॥ |

| I am just a poor beggar of Yours; You are Your Own Lord Master, You are the Great Giver. |

| hohu dhaiaal naam dhaehu mangath jan kano sadhaa reho rang raathaa ||1|| |
| Be Merciful, and bless me, a humble beggar, with Your Name, so that I may forever remain imbued with Your Love. ||1|| |

| I am a sacrifice to Your Name, O True Lord. |

| ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਏਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| karan kaaran sabhanaa kaa eaeko avar n dhoojaa koee ||1|| rehaao || |
| The One Lord is the Cause of causes; there is no other at all. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬਹੁਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਪਏ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕਉ ਅਬ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ |
| bahuthae faer peae kirapan ko ab kishh kirapaa keejai || |
| I was wretched; I wandered through so many cycles of reincarnation. Now, Lord, please bless me with Your Grace. |

| ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਐਸੀ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੨॥ |
| hohu dhaeiaal dharasan dhaehu apunaa aisee bakhas kareejai ||2|| |
| Be merciful, and grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; please grant me such a gift. ||2|| |

| ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮ ਪਟ ਖੂਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ |
| bhanath naanak bharam patt khoolhae gur parasaadhee jaaniaa || |
| Prays Nanak, the shutters of doubt have been opened wide; by Guru's Grace, I have come to know the Lord. |
