| ਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਕਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ॥ |
| bandhhan thae shhuttakaavai prabhoo milaavai har har naam sunaavai || |
| Is there anyone who can release me from my bondage, unite me with God, recite the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, |

| ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਧਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
| asathhir karae nihachal eihu manooaa bahur n kathehoo dhhaavai ||1|| |
| and make this mind steady and stable, so that it no longer wanders around? ||1|| |

| ਹੈ ਕੋਊ ਐਸੋ ਹਮਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ॥ |

| Do I have any such friend? |

| ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਹੀਉ ਦੇਉ ਅਰਪਉ ਅਪਨੋ ਚੀਤੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| I would give him all my property, my soul and my heart; I would devote my consciousness to him. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਪਰ ਧਨ ਪਰ ਤਨ ਪਰ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਇਨ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ |
| par dhhan par than par kee nindhaa ein sio preeth n laagai || |
| Others' wealth, others' bodies, and the slander of others - do not attach your love to them. |

| ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗੁ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਭਾਖਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥੨॥ |
| santheh sang santh sanbhaakhan har keerathan man jaagai ||2|| |
| Associate with the Saints, speak with the Saints, and keep your mind awake to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||2|| |

| ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ |
| gun nidhhaan dhaeiaal purakh prabh sarab sookh dhaeiaalaa || |
| God is the treasure of virtue, kind and compassionate, the source of all comfort. |

| ਮਾਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਉ ਮਾਤਾ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੩॥੧੪॥ |
| maagai dhaan naam thaero naanak jio maathaa baal gupaalaa ||3||14|| |
| Nanak begs for the gift of Your Name; O Lord of the world, love him, like the mother loves her child. ||3||14|| |

| The Lord saves His Saints. |

| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har kae dhaas kee chithavai buriaaee this hee ko fir maar ||1|| rehaao || |
| One who wishes misfortune upon the Lord's slaves, shall be destroyed by the Lord eventually. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਨ ਕਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੋਆ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਭਾਗੇ ਹਾਰਿ ॥ |
| jan kaa aap sehaaee hoaa nindhak bhaagae haar || |
| He Himself is the help and support of His humble servants; He defeats the slanderers, and chases them away. |

| ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਊਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੂਏ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਨ ਮੰਝਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ |
| bhramath bhramath oohaan hee mooeae baahurr grihi n manjhaar ||1|| |
| Wandering around aimlessly, they die out there; they never return to their homes again. ||1|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥ |
| naanak saran pariou dhukh bhanjan gun gaavai sadhaa apaar || |
| Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Destroyer of pain; he sings the Glorious Praises of the infinite Lord forever. |

| ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਮੁਖੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਹੋਆ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੧੫॥ |
| nindhak kaa mukh kaalaa hoaa dheen dhuneeaa kai dharabaar ||2||15|| |
| The faces of the slanderers are blackened in the courts of this world, and the world beyond. ||2||15|| |

| Now, I contemplate and meditate on the Lord, the Saviour Lord. |

| ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕੀਏ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਗਲਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| pathith puneeth keeeae khin bheethar sagalaa rog bidhaariaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| He purifies sinners in an instant, and cures all diseases. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਗੋਸਟਿ ਭਈ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਮਿ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| gosatt bhee saadhh kai sangam kaam krodhh lobh maariaa || |
| Talking with the Holy Saints, my sexual desire, anger and greed have been eradicated. |

| ਅਉਖਧ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੂਲ ਮਨ ਏਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| aoukhadhh manthr mool man eaekai man bisvaas prabh dhhaariaa || |
| The Mul Mantra, the Root Mantra, is the only cure for the mind; I have installed faith in God in my mind. |

| ਚਰਨ ਰੇਨ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪੁਨਹ ਪੁਨਹ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੧੬॥ |
| charan raen baanshhai nith naanak puneh puneh balihaariaa ||2||16|| |
| Nanak ever longs for the dust of the Lord's feet; again and again, he is a sacrifice to the Lord. ||2||16|| |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਕਾ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਕੇਤੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sathigur maeraa sadhaa sehaaee jin dhukh kaa kaattiaa kaeth ||1|| rehaao || |
| My True Guru is always my help and support; He has torn down the banner of pain. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥ |
| haathh dhaee raakhiou apunaa kar birathhaa sagal mittaaee || |
| Giving me His hand, He has protected me as His own, and removed all my troubles. |

| ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਕਾਲੇ ਕੀਨੇ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| nindhak kae mukh kaalae keenae jan kaa aap sehaaee ||1|| |
| He has blackened the faces of the slanderers, and He Himself has become the help and support of His humble servant. ||1|| |

| ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਹੋਆ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| saachaa saahib hoaa rakhavaalaa raakh leeeae kanth laae || |
| The True Lord and Master has become my Saviour; hugging me close in His embrace, He has saved me. |

| ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੨॥੧੭॥ |
| nirabho bheae sadhaa sukh maanae naanak har gun gaae ||2||17|| |
| Nanak has become fearless, and he enjoys eternal peace, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||17|| |

| mohi aathur thaeree gath nehee jaanee thoon aap karehi prathipaal ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am so miserable, I do not know Your state; You Yourself cherish me, Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਾਉ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥ |
| dhhaar anugrahu suaamee maerae dhutheeaa bhaao nivaar || |
| Take pity on me, O my Lord and Master, and remove the love of duality from within me. |

| ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਆਵਹ ਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ |
| bandhhan kaatt laehu apunae kar kabehoo n aaveh haar ||1|| |
| Break my bonds, and take me as Your own, so that I may never come to lose. ||1|| |

| ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਇਆ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ॥ |
| thaeree saran paeiaa ho jeevaan thoon sanmrathh purakh miharavaan || |
| Seeking Your Sanctuary, I live, almighty and merciful Lord and Master. |

| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਆਰਾਧੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥੨॥੧੮॥ |
| aath pehar prabh ko aaraadhhee naanak sadh kurabaan ||2||18|| |
| Twenty-four hours a day, I worship God; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||2||18|| |

| Family and worldly affairs are an ocean of fire. |

| Through doubt, emotional attachment and ignorance, we are enveloped in darkness. ||1|| |

| High and low, pleasure and pain. |

| ਧ੍ਰਾਪਸਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ॥੨॥ |

| Hunger and thirst are not satisfied. ||2|| |
|
| ਮਨਿ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਰਚਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ॥ |
| man baasanaa rach bikhai biaadhh || |
| The mind is engrossed in passion, and the disease of corruption. |

| ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਹਾ ਅਸਾਧ ॥੩॥ |
| panch dhooth sang mehaa asaadhh ||3|| |
| The five thieves, the companions, are totally incorrigible. ||3|| |
|
| ਜੀਅ ਜਹਾਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਧਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ |

| The beings and souls and wealth of the world are all Yours. |
