| ਦਰਬਵੰਤੁ ਦਰਬੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਗਰਬੈ ਭੂਮਵੰਤੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥ |
| dharabavanth dharab dhaekh garabai bhoomavanth abhimaanee || |
| The rich man gazes upon his riches, and is proud of himself; the landlord takes pride in his lands. |
|
| ਰਾਜਾ ਜਾਨੈ ਸਗਲ ਰਾਜੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਟੇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥ |
| raajaa jaanai sagal raaj hamaraa thio har jan ttaek suaamee ||1|| |
| The king believes that the whole kingdom belongs to him; in the same way, the humble servant of the Lord looks upon the support of his Lord and Master. ||1|| |
|
| ਜੇ ਕੋਊ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਓਟ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥ |
| jae kooo apunee outt samaarai || |
| When one considers the Lord to be his only support, |
|
| ਜੈਸਾ ਬਿਤੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਹੋਇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਬਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਹਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jaisaa bith thaisaa hoe varathai apunaa bal nehee haarai ||1|| rehaao || |
| then the Lord uses His power to help him; this power cannot be defeated. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਆਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਭਏ ਇਕ ਆਸਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਏ ॥ |
| aan thiaag bheae eik aasar saran saran kar aaeae || |
| Renouncing all others, I have sought the Support of the One Lord; I have come to Him, pleading, ""Save me, save me!"" |

| ਸੰਤ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੨॥੩॥੩੪॥ |
| santh anugreh bheae man niramal naanak har gun gaaeae ||2||3||34|| |
| By the kindness and the Grace of the Saints, my mind has been purified; Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||3||34|| |

| ਜਾ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੋ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਹੈ ਸੂਰਾ ॥ |
| jaa ko har rang laago eis jug mehi so keheeath hai sooraa || |
| He alone is called a warrior, who is attached to the Lord's Love in this age. |

| ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਆਤਮ ਰੰਗਿ ॥ |
| thaakur gaaeeai aatham rang || |
| Sing the Praises of the Lord and Master, with the love of your soul. |
|
| ਸਰਣੀ ਪਾਵਨ ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਵਨ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਨ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| saranee paavan naam dhhiaavan sehaj samaavan sang ||1|| rehaao || |
| Those who seek His Sanctuary, and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are blended with the Lord in celestial peace. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਨ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਵਸਹਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ਦੇਹੀ ॥ |
| jan kae charan vasehi maerai heearai sang puneethaa dhaehee || |
| The feet of the Lord's humble servant abide in my heart; with them, my body is made pure. |

| ਜਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਏਹੀ ॥੨॥੪॥੩੫॥ |
| jan kee dhhoor dhaehu kirapaa nidhh naanak kai sukh eaehee ||2||4||35|| |
| O treasure of mercy, please bless Nanak with the dust of the feet of Your humble servants; this alone brings peace. ||2||4||35|| |

| ਜਤਨ ਕਰੈ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਡਹਕਾਵੈ ਓਹੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ |
| jathan karai maanukh ddehakaavai ouhu antharajaamee jaanai || |
| People try to deceive others, but the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, knows everything. |
|
| ਪਾਪ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਮੂਕਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਭੇਖ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੈ ॥੧॥ |
| paap karae kar mookar paavai bhaekh karai nirabaanai ||1|| |
| They commit sins, and then deny them, while they pretend to be in Nirvaanaa. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਾਨਤ ਦੂਰਿ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨੇਰਿ ॥ |
| jaanath dhoor thumehi prabh naer || |
| They believe that You are far away, but You, O God, are near at hand. |
|
| ਉਤ ਤਾਕੈ ਉਤ ਤੇ ਉਤ ਪੇਖੈ ਆਵੈ ਲੋਭੀ ਫੇਰਿ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| outh thaakai outh thae outh paekhai aavai lobhee faer || rehaao || |
| Looking around, this way and that, the greedy people come and go. ||Pause|| |
|
| ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਤੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨ ਭਰਮਾ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
| jab lag thuttai naahee man bharamaa thab lag mukath n koee || |
| As long as the doubts of the mind are not removed, liberation is not found. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੰਤੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥੫॥੩੬॥ |
| kahu naanak dhaeiaal suaamee santh bhagath jan soee ||2||5||36|| |
| Says Nanak, he alone is a Saint, a devotee, and a humble servant of the Lord, to whom the Lord and Master is merciful. ||2||5||36|| |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਓ ਹੈ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮਾ ॥ |
| naam gur dheeou hai apunai jaa kai masathak karamaa || |
| My Guru gives the Naam, the Name of the Lord, to those who have such karma written on their foreheads. |
|
| ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੧॥ |
| naam dhrirraavai naam japaavai thaa kaa jug mehi dhharamaa ||1|| |
| He implants the Naam, and inspires us to chant the Naam; this is Dharma, true religion, in this world. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਨ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਸੋਭ ॥ |
| jan ko naam vaddaaee sobh || |
| The Naam is the glory and greatness of the Lord's humble servant. |
|
| ਨਾਮੋ ਗਤਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਪਤਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਮਾਨੈ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਹੋਗ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| naamo gath naamo path jan kee maanai jo jo hog ||1|| rehaao || |
| The Naam is his salvation, and the Naam is his honor; he accepts whatever comes to pass. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਪਾਲੈ ਸੋਈ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਾਹਾ ॥ |
| naam dhhan jis jan kai paalai soee pooraa saahaa || |
| That humble servant, who has the Naam as his wealth, is the perfect banker. |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਧਾਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਲਾਹਾ ॥੨॥੬॥੩੭॥ |
| naam biouhaaraa naanak aadhhaaraa naam paraapath laahaa ||2||6||37|| |
| The Naam is his occupation, O Nanak, and his only support; the Naam is the profit he earns. ||2||6||37|| |

| ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਭਏ ਦਰਸ ਪੇਖੇ ਮਾਥੈ ਪਰਉ ਰਵਾਲ ॥ |
| naethr puneeth bheae dharas paekhae maathhai paro ravaal || |
| My eyes have been purified, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, and touching my forehead to the dust of His feet. |

| ਰਸਿ ਰਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਉ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਮੋਰੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਹੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ |
| ras ras gun gaavo thaakur kae morai hiradhai basahu gopaal ||1|| |
| With joy and happiness, I sing the Glorious Praises of my Lord and Master; the Lord of the World abides within my heart. ||1|| |
|
| ਤੁਮ ਤਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| thum tho raakhanehaar dhaeiaal || |
| You are my Merciful Protector, Lord. |
|
| ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਘਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sundhar sughar baeanth pithaa prabh hohu prabhoo kirapaal ||1|| rehaao || |
| O beautiful, wise, infinite Father God, be Merciful to me, God. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰੂਪ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਅਨੂਪ ਰਸਾਲ ॥ |
| mehaa anandh mangal roop thumarae bachan anoop rasaal || |
| O Lord of supreme ecstasy and blissful form, Your Word is so beautiful, so drenched with Nectar. |

| ਹਿਰਦੈ ਚਰਣ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਂਧਿਓ ਪਾਲ ॥੨॥੭॥੩੮॥ |
| hiradhai charan sabadh sathigur ko naanak baandhhiou paal ||2||7||38|| |
| With the Lord's lotus feet enshrined in his heart, Nanak has tied the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru, to the hem of his robe. ||2||7||38|| |

| ਅਪਨੀ ਉਕਤਿ ਖਲਾਵੈ ਭੋਜਨ ਅਪਨੀ ਉਕਤਿ ਖੇਲਾਵੈ ॥ |
| apanee oukath khalaavai bhojan apanee oukath khaelaavai || |
| In His own way, He provides us with our food; in His own way, He plays with us. |
|
| ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਭੋਗ ਰਸ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
| sarab sookh bhog ras dhaevai man hee naal samaavai ||1|| |
| He blesses us with all comforts, enjoyments and delicacies, and he permeates our minds. ||1|| |
|
| ਹਮਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| hamarae pithaa gopaal dhaeiaal || |
| Our Father is the Lord of the World, the Merciful Lord. |
|
| ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਕਉ ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jio raakhai mehathaaree baarik ko thaisae hee prabh paal ||1|| rehaao || |
| Just as the mother protects her children, God nurtures and cares for us. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਇਕ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਦੇਵਾ ॥ |
| meeth saajan sarab gun naaeik sadhaa salaamath dhaevaa || |
| You are my friend and companion, the Master of all excellences, O eternal and permanent Divine Lord. |

| ਈਤ ਊਤ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਤਤ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੨॥੮॥੩੯॥ |
| eeth ooth jath kath thath thum hee milai naanak santh saevaa ||2||8||39|| |
| Here, there and everywhere, You are pervading; please, bless Nanak to serve the Saints. ||2||8||39|| |

| santh kirapaal dhaeiaal dhamodhar kaam krodhh bikh jaarae || |
| The Saints are kind and compassionate; they burn away their sexual desire, anger and corruption. |

| ਰਾਜੁ ਮਾਲੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਜੀਅਰਾ ਇਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਲੈ ਬਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ |
| raaj maal joban than jeearaa ein oopar lai baarae ||1|| |
| My power, wealth, youth, body and soul are a sacrifice to them. ||1|| |
|
| ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੇ ॥ |
| man than raam naam hithakaarae || |
| With my mind and body, I love the Lord's Name. |
|
| ਧੰਨਿ ਸੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਧੰਨਿ ਓਇ ਭਵਨਾ ਜਾ ਮਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਬਸਾਰੇ ॥ |
| dhhann s thhaan dhhann oue bhavanaa jaa mehi santh basaarae || |
| Blessed is that place, and blessed is that house, in which the Saints dwell. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਹੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੇ ॥੨॥੯॥੪੦॥ |
| jan naanak kee saradhhaa poorahu thaakur bhagath thaerae namasakaarae ||2||9||40|| |
| Fulfill this desire of servant Nanak, O Lord Master, that he may bow in reverence to Your devotees. ||2||9||40|| |

| ਛਡਾਇ ਲੀਓ ਮਹਾ ਬਲੀ ਤੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਰਾਤਿ ॥ |
| shhaddaae leeou mehaa balee thae apanae charan paraath || |
| He has saved me from the awful power of Maya, by attaching me to His feet. |

| ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਮਨ ਮੰਤਾ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਤਿ ॥੧॥ |
| eaek naam dheeou man manthaa binas n kathehoo jaath ||1|| |
| He gave my mind the Mantra of the Naam, the Name of the One Lord, which shall never perish or leave me. ||1|| |
