| ਸਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਕਹੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| saa vaelaa kahu koun hai jith prabh ko paaee || |
| Tell me, what is that time, when I shall find God? |
|
| ਸੋ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਭਲਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥ |
| so moorath bhalaa sanjog hai jith milai gusaaee || |
| Blessed and auspicious is that moment, and that destiny, when I shall find the Lord of the Universe. |
|
| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਈ ॥ |
| aath pehar har dhhiaae kai man eishh pujaaee || |
| Meditating on the Lord, twenty-four hours a day, my mind's desires are fulfilled. |
|
| ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਸੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| vaddai bhaag sathasang hoe niv laagaa paaee || |
| By great good fortune, I have found the Society of the Saints; I bow and touch their feet. |

| ਮਨਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੫॥ |
| man dharasan kee piaas hai naanak bal jaaee ||15|| |
| My mind thirsts for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan; Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ||15|| |

| ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ਸਰਬ ਦੋਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹ ॥ |
| pathith puneeth gobindheh sarab dhokh nivaaraneh || |
| The Lord of the Universe is the Purifier of sinners; He is the Dispeller of all distress. |

| ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ ਭਗਵਾਨਹ ਜਪੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ |
| saran soor bhagavaaneh japanth naanak har har harae ||1|| |
| The Lord God is Mighty, giving His Protective Sanctuary; Nanak chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1|| |

| ਛਡਿਓ ਹਭੁ ਆਪੁ ਲਗੜੋ ਚਰਣਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ |
| shhaddiou habh aap lagarro charanaa paas || |
| Renouncing all self-conceit, I hold tight to the Lord's Feet. |
|
| ਨਠੜੋ ਦੁਖ ਤਾਪੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੇਖੰਦਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
| natharro dhukh thaap naanak prabh paekhandhiaa ||2|| |
| My sorrows and troubles have departed, O Nanak, beholding God. ||2|| |

| ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਢਹਿ ਪਏ ਦੁਆਰਿਆ ॥ |
| mael laihu dhaeiaal dtehi peae dhuaariaa || |
| Unite with me, O Merciful Lord; I have fallen at Your Door. |

| ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਹੁ ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| rakh laevahu dheen dhaeiaal bhramath bahu haariaa || |
| O Merciful to the meek, save me. I have wandered enough; now I am tired. |
|
| ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| bhagath vashhal thaeraa biradh har pathith oudhhaariaa || |
| It is Your very nature to love Your devotees, and save sinners. |

| ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ਬਿਨਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| thujh bin naahee koe bino mohi saariaa || |
| Without You, there is no other at all; I offer this prayer to You. |
|
| ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰਿਆ ॥੧੬॥ |
| kar gehi laehu dhaeiaal saagar sansaariaa ||16|| |
| Take me by the hand, O Merciful Lord, and carry me across the world-ocean. ||16|| |

| ਸੰਤ ਉਧਰਣ ਦਇਆਲੰ ਆਸਰੰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥ |
| santh oudhharan dhaeiaalan aasaran gopaal keerathaneh || |
| The Merciful Lord is the Savior of the Saints; their only support is to sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. |

| ਨਿਰਮਲੰ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥੧॥ |
| niramalan santh sangaen outt naanak paramaesureh ||1|| |
| One becomes immaculate and pure, by associating with the Saints, O Nanak, and taking the Protection of the Transcendent Lord. ||1|| |

| ਚੰਦਨ ਚੰਦੁ ਨ ਸਰਦ ਰੁਤਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਘਾਂਮ ॥ |
| chandhan chandh n saradh ruth mool n mittee ghaanm || |
| The burning of the heart is not dispelled at all, by sandalwood paste, the moon, or the cold season. |
|
| ਸੀਤਲੁ ਥੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਪੰਦੜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥ |
| seethal thheevai naanakaa japandharro har naam ||2|| |
| It only becomes cool, O Nanak, by chanting the Name of the Lord. ||2|| |

| ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਜਨ ॥ |
| charan kamal kee outt oudhharae sagal jan || |
| Through the Protection and Support of the Lord's lotus feet, all beings are saved. |
|
| ਸੁਣਿ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਮਨ ॥ |
| sun parathaap govindh nirabho bheae man || |
| Hearing of the Glory of the Lord of the Universe, the mind becomes fearless. |
|
| ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨ ॥ |
| thott n aavai mool sanchiaa naam dhhan || |
| Nothing at all is lacking, when one gathers the wealth of the Naam. |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡੈ ਪੁਨ ॥ |
| santh janaa sio sang paaeeai vaddai pun || |
| The Society of the Saints is obtained, by very good deeds. |
|
| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਨ ॥੧੭॥ |
| aath pehar har dhhiaae har jas nith sun ||17|| |
| Twenty-four hours a day, meditate on the Lord, and listen continually to the Lord's Praises. ||17|| |

| ਦਇਆ ਕਰਣੰ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਣੰ ਉਚਰਣੰ ਨਾਮ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥ |
| dhaeiaa karanan dhukh haranan oucharanan naam keerathaneh || |
| The Lord grants His Grace, and dispels the pains of those who sing the Kirtan of the Praises of His Name. |
|
| ਭਾਹਿ ਬਲੰਦੜੀ ਬੁਝਿ ਗਈ ਰਖੰਦੜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ॥ |
| bhaahi balandharree bujh gee rakhandharro prabh aap || |
| The burning fire has been put out; God Himself has saved me. |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਮੇਦਨੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੨॥ |
| jin oupaaee maedhanee naanak so prabh jaap ||2|| |
| Meditate on that God, O Nanak, who created the universe. ||2|| |

| When God becomes merciful, Maya does not cling. |
|
| ਕੋਟਿ ਅਘਾ ਗਏ ਨਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ |
| kott aghaa geae naas har eik dhhiaaeiaa || |
| Millions of sins are eliminated, by meditating on the Naam, the Name of the One Lord. |

| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਭਏ ਸਰੀਰ ਜਨ ਧੂਰੀ ਨਾਇਆ ॥ |
| niramal bheae sareer jan dhhooree naaeiaa || |
| The body is made immaculate and pure, bathing in the dust of the feet of the Lord's humble servants. |
|
| ਮਨ ਤਨ ਭਏ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| man than bheae santhokh pooran prabh paaeiaa || |
| The mind and body become contented, finding the Perfect Lord God. |
|
| ਤਰੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੋਗ ਕੁਲ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥੧੮॥ |
| tharae kuttanb sang log kul sabaaeiaa ||18|| |
| One is saved, along with his family, and all his ancestors. ||18|| |

| The Guru is the Lord of the Universe; the Guru is the Lord of the world; the Guru is the Perfect Pervading Lord God. |

| ਗੁਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਮਰਥ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣਹ ॥੧॥ |
| gur dhaeiaal samarathh gur gur naanak pathith oudhhaaraneh ||1|| |
| The Guru is compassionate; the Guru is all-powerful; the Guru, O Nanak, is the Saving Grace of sinners. ||1|| |

| ਭਉਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਅਸਗਾਹੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਬੋਹਿਥੈ ਤਾਰਿਅਮੁ ॥ |
| bhoujal bikham asagaahu gur bohithhai thaariam || |
| The Guru is the boat, to cross over the dangerous, treacherous, unfathomable world-ocean. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਗਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak poor karanm sathigur charanee lagiaa ||2|| |
| O Nanak, by perfect good karma, one is attached to the feet of the True Guru. ||2|| |

| Blessed, blessed is the Divine Guru; associating with Him, one meditates on the Lord. |

| ਗੁਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਤ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਸਭਿ ਛਪੇ ॥ |
| gur kirapaal jab bheae th avagun sabh shhapae || |
| When the Guru becomes merciful, then all one's demerits are dispelled. |
|
| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਨੀਚਹੁ ਉਚ ਥਪੇ ॥ |
| paarabreham guradhaev neechahu ouch thhapae || |
| The Supreme Lord God, the Divine Guru, uplifts and exalts the lowly. |

| ਕਾਟਿ ਸਿਲਕ ਦੁਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪ ਦਸੇ ॥ |
| kaatt silak dhukh maaeiaa kar leenae ap dhasae || |
| Cutting away the painful noose of Maya, He makes us His own slaves. |
|
| ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੇ ॥੧੯॥ |
| gun gaaeae baeanth rasanaa har jasae ||19|| |
| With my tongue, I sing the Glorious Praises of the infinite Lord God. ||19|| |
