| but when the jugs are broken, only the sky remains. |

| Doubt comes from greed, emotional attachment and the corruption of Maya. |

| Freed from doubt, one realizes the One Lord alone. ||3|| |

| ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| ouhu abinaasee binasath naahee || |
| He is imperishable; He will never pass away. |
|
| ਨਾ ਕੋ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਹੀ ॥ |
| naa ko aavai naa ko jaahee || |
| He does not come, and He does not go. |
|
| ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਈ ॥ |
| gur poorai houmai mal dhhoee || |
| The Perfect Guru has washed away the filth of ego. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥ |

| Whatever God wills, that alone happens. |

| ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| thujh bin dhoojaa naahee koe || |
| Without You, there is no other at all. |
|
| ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਜ ॥ |
| jo jan saevae this pooran kaaj || |
| The humble being serves Him, and so all his works are perfectly successful. |

| ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ॥੧॥ |

| O Lord, please preserve the honor of Your slaves. ||1|| |

| He is permeating and pervading the water, the land and the sky. |

| ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ |
| nikatt vasai naahee prabh dhoor || |
| God dwells near at hand; He is not far away. |
|
| ਲੋਕ ਪਤੀਆਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ |
| lok patheeaarai kashhoo n paaeeai || |
| By trying to please other people, nothing is accomplished. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ |
| jis no laae leae so laagai || |
| He alone is attached, whom the Lord Himself attaches. |
|
| ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥ |

| The jewel of spiritual wisdom is awakened deep within. |
|
| ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ |

| Evil-mindedness is eradicated, and the supreme status is attained. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੩॥ |
| gur parasaadhee naam dhhiaaeae ||3|| |
| By Guru's Grace, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3|| |

| ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ |
| dhue kar jorr karo aradhaas || |
| Pressing my palms together, I offer my prayer; |

| ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਆਣਹਿ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
| thudhh bhaavai thaa aanehi raas || |
| if it pleases You, Lord, please bless me and fulfill me. |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਇ ॥ |

| Grant Your Mercy, Lord, and bless me with devotion. |

| Blessed is that soul-bride, who realizes God. |

| ਮਾਨੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਜੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੈ ॥ |
| maanai hukam thajai abhimaanai || |
| She obeys the Hukam of His Order, and abandons her self-conceit. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਨੈ ॥੧॥ |
| pria sio raathee raleeaa maanai ||1|| |
| Imbued with her Beloved, she celebrates in delight. ||1|| |

| ਸੁਨਿ ਸਖੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਣ ਨੀਸਾਨੀ ॥ |

| Listen, O my companions - these are the signs on the Path to meet God. |

| ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਤਜਿ ਲਾਜ ਲੋਕਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| Dedicate your mind and body to Him; stop living to please others. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਕਉ ਸਮਝਾਵੈ ॥ |

| One soul-bride counsels another, |
|
| ਸੋਈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ |
| soee kamaavai jo prabh bhaavai || |
| to do only that which pleases God. |
|
| ਸਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ |

| Such a soul-bride merges into the Being of God. ||2|| |

| ਗਰਬਿ ਗਹੇਲੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |

| One who is in the grip of pride does not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. |

| ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੈ ਜਬ ਰੈਣਿ ਬਿਹਾਵੈ ॥ |
| fir pashhuthaavai jab rain bihaavai || |
| She regrets and repents, when her life-night passes away. |
|
| ਕਰਮਹੀਣਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ |
| karameheen manamukh dhukh paavai ||3|| |
| The unfortunate self-willed manmukhs suffer in pain. ||3|| |
|
| ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰੀ ਜੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ |
| bino karee jae jaanaa dhoor || |
| I pray to God, but I think that He is far away. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ |

| God is imperishable and eternal; He is pervading and permeating everywhere. |

| The Giver has put this household of my being under my own control. I am now the mistress of the Lord's Home. |

| ਦਸ ਦਾਸੀ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਭਤਾਰਿ ॥ |
| dhas dhaasee kar dheenee bhathaar || |
| My Husband Lord has made the ten senses and organs of actions my slaves. |

| ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਮੈ ਘਰ ਕੀ ਜੋੜੀ ॥ |
| sagal samagree mai ghar kee jorree || |
| I have gathered together all the faculties and facilities of this house. |
|
| ਆਸ ਪਿਆਸੀ ਪਿਰ ਕਉ ਲੋੜੀ ॥੧॥ |

| I am thirsty with desire and longing for my Husband Lord. ||1|| |

| ਕਵਨ ਕਹਾ ਗੁਨ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ |

| What Glorious Virtues of my Beloved Husband Lord should I describe? |

| I am adorned with Truth, and I have applied the mascara of the Fear of God to my eyes. |

| I have chewed the betel-leaf of the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord. |
