| Meditating, meditating in remembrance on Him, I live. |

| ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਧੋਇ ਧੋਇ ਪੀਵਾ ॥੧॥ |
| charan kamal thaerae dhhoe dhhoe peevaa ||1|| |
| I wash Your Lotus Feet, and drink in the wash water. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ |
| so har maeraa antharajaamee || |
| He is my Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. |
|
| ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| My Lord and Master abides with His humble devotees. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਾ ॥ |
| sun sun anmrith naam dhhiaavaa || |
| Hearing, hearing Your Ambrosial Naam, I meditate on it. |

| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥੨॥ |
| aath pehar thaerae gun gaavaa ||2|| |
| Twenty-four hours a day, I sing Your Glorious Praises. ||2|| |
|
| ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਲੀਲਾ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥ |
| paekh paekh leelaa man aanandhaa || |
| Beholding, beholding Your divine play, my mind is in bliss. |

| ਗੁਣ ਅਪਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੩॥ |
| gun apaar prabh paramaanandhaa ||3|| |
| Your Glorious Virtues are infinite, O God, O Lord of supreme bliss. ||3|| |

| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਛੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥ |
| jaa kai simaran kashh bho n biaapai || |
| Meditating in remembrance on Him, fear cannot touch me. |

| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੧੭॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa naanak har jaapai ||4||11||17|| |
| Forever and ever, Nanak meditates on the Lord. ||4||11||17|| |

| gur kai bachan ridhai dhhiaan dhhaaree || |
| Within my heart, I meditate on the Word of the Guru's Teachings. |

| ਰਸਨਾ ਜਾਪੁ ਜਪਉ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| rasanaa jaap japo banavaaree ||1|| |
| With my tongue, I chant the Chant of the Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ |
| safal moorath dharasan balihaaree || |
| The image of His vision is fruitful; I am a sacrifice to it. |

| ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| His Lotus Feet are the Support of the mind, the Support of the very breath of life. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥ |
| saadhhasang janam maran nivaaree || |
| In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the cycle of birth and death is ended. |

| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਕਰਨ ਅਧਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| anmrith kathhaa sun karan adhhaaree ||2|| |
| To hear the Ambrosial Sermon is the support of my ears. ||2|| |

| ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਤਜਾਰੀ ॥ |
| kaam krodhh lobh moh thajaaree || |
| I have renounced sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment. |
|
| ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਸੁਚਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ |
| dhrirr naam dhaan eisanaan suchaaree ||3|| |
| I have enshrined the Naam within myself, with charity, true cleansing and righteous conduct. ||3|| |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ |
| kahu naanak eihu thath beechaaree || |
| Says Nanak, I have contemplated this essence of reality; |

| He has not performed any service to the Creator Lord. ||1|| |

| ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਮ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥ |

| O God, Your Name is the Purifier of sinners. |

| ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੀਆਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| raakh laehu mohi niraguneeaarae ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am worthless - please save me! ||1||Pause|| |

| ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ |
| thoon dhaathaa prabh antharajaamee || |
| O God, You are the Great Giver, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. |

| ਕਾਚੀ ਦੇਹ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥੨॥ |
| kaachee dhaeh maanukh abhimaanee ||2|| |
| The body of the egotistical human is perishable. ||2|| |
|
| ਸੁਆਦ ਬਾਦ ਈਰਖ ਮਦ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| suaadh baadh eerakh madh maaeiaa || |
| Tastes and pleasures, conflicts and jealousy, and intoxication with Maya |
|
| ਇਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| ein sang laag rathan janam gavaaeiaa ||3|| |
| - attached to these, the jewel of human life is wasted. ||3|| |
|
| ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥ |
| dhukh bhanjan jagajeevan har raaeiaa || |
| The Sovereign Lord King is the Destroyer of pain, the Life of the world. |
|
| ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਰਣਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੧੯॥ |
| sagal thiaag naanak saranaaeiaa ||4||13||19|| |
| Forsaking everything, Nanak has entered His Sanctuary. ||4||13||19|| |

| ਪੇਖਤ ਚਾਖਤ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਅੰਧਾ ਸੁਨੀਅਤ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| paekhath chaakhath keheeath andhhaa suneeath suneeai naahee || |
| He sees with his eyes, but he is called blind; he hears, but he does not hear. |

| ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਕਉ ਜਾਣੈ ਦੂਰੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ |
| nikatt vasath ko jaanai dhoorae paapee paap kamaahee ||1|| |
| And the One who dwells near at hand, he thinks that He is far away; the sinner is committing sins. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥ |
| so kishh kar jith shhuttehi paraanee || |
| Do only those deeds which will save you, O mortal being. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har har naam jap anmrith baanee ||1|| rehaao || |
| Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and the Ambrosial Word of His Bani. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਘੋਰ ਮਹਲ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ |
| ghor mehal sadhaa rang raathaa || |
| You are forever imbued with the love of horses and mansions. |
|
| ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੨॥ |
| sang thumhaarai kashhoo n jaathaa ||2|| |
| Nothing shall go along with you. ||2|| |
|
| ਰਖਹਿ ਪੋਚਾਰਿ ਮਾਟੀ ਕਾ ਭਾਂਡਾ ॥ |
| rakhehi pochaar maattee kaa bhaanddaa || |
| You may clean and decorate the vessel of clay, |
|
| ਅਤਿ ਕੁਚੀਲ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਮ ਡਾਂਡਾ ॥੩॥ |
| ath kucheel milai jam ddaanddaa ||3|| |
| but it is so very filthy; it shall receive its punishment from the Messenger of Death. ||3|| |
|
| ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਾਧਾ ॥ |
| kaam krodhh lobh mohi baadhhaa || |
| You are bound by sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment. |
|
| ਮਹਾ ਗਰਤ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਘਰਤ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੪॥ |
| mehaa garath mehi nigharath jaathaa ||4|| |
| You are sinking down into the great pit. ||4|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਣੀਜੈ ॥ |
| naanak kee aradhaas suneejai || |
| Hear this prayer of Nanak, O Lord; |
|
| ਡੂਬਤ ਪਾਹਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੫॥੧੪॥੨੦॥ |
| ddoobath paahan prabh maerae leejai ||5||14||20|| |
| I am a stone, sinking down - please, rescue me! ||5||14||20|| |
