| ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅਧੇਰੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ |
| har naam piaarae sabadh nisathaarae agiaan adhhaer gavaaeiaa || |
| Those who love the Lord's Name are emancipated through the Word of the Shabad. The darkness of ignorance is dispelled. |

| ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੁ ਬਲਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਸੋਹਾਇਆ ॥ |
| giaan prachandd baliaa ghatt chaanan ghar mandhar sohaaeiaa || |
| Spiritual wisdom burns brilliantly, illuminating the heart; their homes and temples are embellished and blessed. |

| ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ |
| than man arap seegaar banaaeae har prabh saachae bhaaeiaa || |
| I have made my body and mind into adornments, and dedicated them to the True Lord God, pleasing Him. |

| ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਹੈ ਸੋਈ ਪਰੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| jo prabh kehai soee par keejai naanak ank samaaeiaa ||3|| |
| Whatever God says, I gladly do. O Nanak, I have merged into the fiber of His Being. ||3|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਾਜੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥ |
| har prabh kaaj rachaaeiaa || |
| The Lord God has arranged the marriage ceremony; |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੀਆਹਣਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ |
| guramukh veeaahan aaeiaa || |
| He has come to marry the Gurmukh. |

| ਵੀਆਹਣਿ ਆਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥ |
| veeaahan aaeiaa guramukh har paaeiaa saa dhhan kanth piaaree || |
| He has come to marry the Gurmukh, who has found the Lord. That bride is very dear to her Lord. |

| ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ |
| santh janaa mil mangal gaaeae har jeeo aap savaaree || |
| The humble Saints join together and sing the songs of joy; the Dear Lord Himself has adorned the soul-bride. |

| ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ਅਪੂਰਬ ਜੰਞ ਬਣਾਈ ॥ |
| sur nar gan gandhharab mil aaeae apoorab jannj banaaee || |
| The angels and mortal beings, the heavenly heralds and celestial singers, have come together and formed a wondrous wedding party. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥ |

| Come, humble Saints, and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੀਐ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਜਹਿ ਸਬਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| guramukh mil reheeai ghar vaajehi sabadh ghanaerae raam || |
| Let us gather together as Gurmukh; within the home of our own heart, the Shabad vibrates and resonates. |

| ਸਬਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ॥ |

| The many melodies of the Shabad are Yours, O Lord God; O Creator Lord, You are everywhere. |

| ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜਪੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥ |
| ahinis japee sadhaa saalaahee saach sabadh liv laaee || |
| Day and night, I chant His Praises forever, lovingly focusing on the True Word of the Shabad. |

| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਰਹੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਪੂਜਾ ॥ |
| anadhin sehaj rehai rang raathaa raam naam ridh poojaa || |
| Night and day, I remain intuitively attuned to the Lord's Love; in my heart, I worship the Lord's Name. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥ |

| O Nanak, as Gurmukh, I have realized the One Lord; I do not know any other. ||1|| |

| sabh mehi rav rehiaa so prabh antharajaamee raam || |
| He is contained amongst all; He is God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. |

| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਵੈ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| gur sabadh ravai rav rehiaa so prabh maeraa suaamee raam || |
| One who meditates and dwells upon God, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, knows that God, my Lord and Master, is pervading everywhere. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥ |
| prabh maeraa suaamee antharajaamee ghatt ghatt raviaa soee || |
| God, my Lord and Master, is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; He pervades and permeates each and every heart. |

| ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
| guramath sach paaeeai sehaj samaaeeai this bin avar n koee || |
| Through the Guru's Teachings, Truth is obtained, and then, one merges in celestial bliss. There is no other than Him. |

| ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| sehajae gun gaavaa jae prabh bhaavaa aapae leae milaaeae || |
| I sing His Praises with intuitive ease. If it pleases God, He shall unite me with Himself. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਜਾਪੈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak so prabh sabadhae jaapai ahinis naam dhhiaaeae ||2|| |
| O Nanak, through the Shabad, God is known; meditate on the Naam, day and night. ||2|| |

| ਇਹੁ ਜਗੋ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| eihu jago dhuthar manamukh paar n paaee raam || |
| This world is treacherous and impassable; the self-willed manmukh cannot cross over. |
|
| ਅੰਤਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| antharae houmai mamathaa kaam krodhh chathuraaee raam || |
| Within him is egotism, self-conceit, sexual desire, anger and cleverness. |
|
| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ |
| anthar chathuraaee thhaae n paaee birathhaa janam gavaaeiaa || |
| Within him is cleverness; he is not approved, and his life is uselessly wasted and lost. |
|
| ਜਮ ਮਗਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jam mag dhukh paavai chottaa khaavai anth gaeiaa pashhuthaaeiaa || |
| On the Path of Death, he suffers in pain, and must endure abuse; in the end, he departs regretfully. |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਪੁਤੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਸੁਤੁ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| bin naavai ko baelee naahee puth kuttanb suth bhaaee || |
| Without the Name, he has no friends, no children, family or relatives. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਆਗੈ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak maaeiaa mohu pasaaraa aagai saathh n jaaee ||3|| |
| O Nanak, the wealth of Maya, attachment and ostentatious shows - none of them shall go along with him to the world hereafter. ||3|| |

| ਹਉ ਪੂਛਉ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| ho pooshho apanaa sathigur dhaathaa kin bidhh dhuthar thareeai raam || |
| I ask my True Guru, the Giver, how to cross over the treacherous and difficult world-ocean. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ਚਲਹੁ ਜੀਵਤਿਆ ਇਵ ਮਰੀਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| sathigur bhaae chalahu jeevathiaa eiv mareeai raam || |
| Walk in harmony with the True Guru's Will, and remain dead while yet alive. |

| ਪੂਰਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ |
| pooraa purakh paaeiaa vaddabhaagee sach naam liv laavai || |
| One obtains the Perfect Primal Lord, by great good fortune, lovingly focusing on the True Name. |

| ਮਤਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ |
| math paragaas bhee man maaniaa raam naam vaddiaaee || |
| The intellect is enlightened, and the mind is satisfied, through the glory of the Lord's Name. |

| O humble Saints, I have met my Beloved Guru; the fire of my desire is quenched, and my yearning is gone. |

| ਹਉ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੈ ਮੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੇ ॥ |
| ho man than dhaevaa sathigurai mai maelae prabh gunathaasae || |
| I dedicate my mind and body to the True Guru; I pray that may He unite me with God, the treasure of virtue. |

| ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਮੈ ਦਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਬਾਸੇ ॥ |
| dhhan dhhann guroo vadd purakh hai mai dhasae har saabaasae || |
| Blessed, blessed is the Guru, the Supreme Being, who tells me of the most blessed Lord. |

| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੇ ॥੧॥ |
| vaddabhaagee har paaeiaa jan naanak naam vigaasae ||1|| |
| By great good fortune, servant Nanak has found the Lord; he blossoms forth in the Naam. ||1|| |

| ਗੁਰੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਸਾਹਾ ॥ |

| I have met my Beloved Friend, the Guru, who has shown me the Path to the Lord. |

| ਘਰਿ ਆਵਹੁ ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ਮਿਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਹਾ ॥ |
| ghar aavahu chiree vishhunniaa mil sabadh guroo prabh naahaa || |
| Come home - I have been separated from You for so long! Please, let me merge with You, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, O my Lord God. |

| ਹਉ ਤੁਝੁ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਖਰੀ ਉਡੀਣੀਆ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨੁ ਮਰਾਹਾ ॥ |
| ho thujh baajhahu kharee ouddeeneeaa jio jal bin meen maraahaa || |
| Without You, I am so sad; like a fish out of water, I shall die. |

| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥ |
| vaddabhaagee har dhhiaaeiaa jan naanak naam samaahaa ||2|| |
| The very fortunate ones meditate on the Lord; servant Nanak merges into the Naam. ||2|| |

| ਮਨੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਚਲਿ ਚਲਿ ਭਰਮਿਆ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
| man dheh dhis chal chal bharamiaa manamukh bharam bhulaaeiaa || |
| The mind runs around in the ten directions; the self-willed manmukh wanders around, deluded by doubt. |
|
| ਨਿਤ ਆਸਾ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਮਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਲਗਾਇਆ ॥ |
| nith aasaa man chithavai man thrisanaa bhukh lagaaeiaa || |
| In his mind, he continually conjures up hopes; his mind is gripped by hunger and thirst. |
|
| ਅਨਤਾ ਧਨੁ ਧਰਿ ਦਬਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਭਾਲਣ ਗਇਆ ॥ |
| anathaa dhhan dhhar dhabiaa fir bikh bhaalan gaeiaa || |
| There is an infinite treasure buried within the mind, but still, he goes out, searching for poison. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪਚਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| jan naanak naam salaahi thoo bin naavai pach pach mueiaa ||3|| |
| O servant Nanak, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; without the Name, he rots away, and wastes away to death. ||3|| |
