| Listening, listening to these, this mind becomes spotless and pure, and the noose of Death is cut. |

| katteeai jam faasee simar abinaasee sagal mangal sugiaanaa || |
| The noose of Death is cut, meditating on the Imperishable Lord, and all happiness and wisdom are obtained. |

| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨਾ ॥ |
| har har jap japeeai dhin raathee laagai sehaj dhhiaanaa || |
| Chant, and meditate, day and night, on the Lord, Har, Har. Focus your meditation on the Celestial Lord. |

| ਕਲਮਲ ਦੁਖ ਜਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਸੀ ॥ |
| kalamal dhukh jaarae prabhoo chithaarae man kee dhuramath naasee || |
| The painful sins are burnt away, by keeping God in one's thoughts; evil-mindedness is erased. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸੁਣੀਅਹਿ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ॥੨॥ |

| Please give me millions of hands to serve You, God, and let my feet walk on Your Path. |

| Service to the Lord is the boat to carry us across the terrifying world-ocean. |

| ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ॥ |
| bhavajal thariaa har har simariaa sagal manorathh poorae || |
| So cross over the terrifying world-ocean, meditating in remembrance on the Lord, Har, Har; all wishes shall be fulfilled. |

| ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਗਏ ਸੁਖ ਉਪਜੇ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰੇ ॥ |
| mehaa bikaar geae sukh oupajae baajae anehadh thoorae || |
| Even the worst corruption is taken away; peace wells up, and the unstruck celestial harmony vibrates and resounds. |

| ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੀਮ ਅਪਾਰਗਿ ॥ |
| man baanshhath fal paaeae sagalae kudharath keem apaarag || |
| All the fruits of the mind's desires are obtained; His creative power is infinitely valuable. |

| eaeho var eaehaa vaddiaaee eihu dhhan hoe vaddabhaagaa raam || |
| This opportunity, this glorious greatness, this blessing and wealth, come by great good fortune. |

| ਏਹੋ ਰੰਗੁ ਏਹੋ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| eaeho rang eaeho ras bhogaa har charanee man laagaa raam || |
| These pleasures, these delightful enjoyments, come when my mind is attached to the Lord's Feet. |

| ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਚਰਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੇ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥ |
| man laagaa charanae prabh kee saranae karan kaaran gopaalaa || |
| My mind is attached to God's Feet; I seek His Sanctuary. He is the Creator, the Cause of causes, the Cherisher of the world. |

| ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ |

| Everything is Yours; You are my God, O my Lord and Master, Merciful to the meek. |

| ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗਾ ॥ |
| mohi niragun preetham sukh saagar santhasang man jaagaa || |
| I am worthless, O my Beloved, ocean of peace. In the Saints' Congregation, my mind is awakened. |

| ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਗਲੇ ਪਾਪ ਤਜਾਵਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| simar simar suaamee prabh apanaa sagalae paap thajaavehi raam || |
| Meditating, meditating in remembrance of God, their Lord and Master, they discard and renounce all their sins. |

| ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ |
| har gun gaae param padh paaeiaa prabh kee ootham baanee || |
| Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord,the supreme status is obtained. The Word of God's Bani is sublime and exalted. |

| ਸਹਜ ਕਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਮੀਠੀ ਕਥੀ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥ |
| sehaj kathhaa prabh kee ath meethee kathhee akathh kehaanee || |
| God's Sermon is so very sweet. It brings celestial peace. It is to speak the Unspoken Speech. |

| ਭਲਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਪਲੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਬਿਚਲ ਨੀਵ ਰਖਾਈ ॥ |
| bhalaa sanjog moorath pal saachaa abichal neev rakhaaee || |
| The time and the moment were auspicious, blessed and true, when the eternal foundation of this Temple was placed. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥੧॥ |

| O servant Nanak, God has been kind and compassionate; with all His powers, He has blessed me. ||1|| |

| The sounds of ecstasy vibrate through me continuously. I have enshrined the Supreme Lord within my mind. |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਝੂਠਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| guramukhae sach karanee saaree binasae bhram bhai jhoothaa raam || |
| As Gurmukh, my lifestyle is excellent and true; my false hopes and doubts are dispelled. |

| ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ॥ |
| anehadh baanee guramukh vakhaanee jas sun sun man than hariaa || |
| The Gurmukh chants the Bani of the unstruck melody; hearing it, listening to it, my mind and body are rejuvenated. |

| ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਬਣਿ ਆਏ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕਰਿਆ ॥ |
| sarab sukhaa this hee ban aaeae jo prabh apanaa kariaa || |
| All pleasures are obtained, by that one whom God makes His Own. |
|
| ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ |
| ghar mehi nav nidhh bharae bhanddaaraa raam naam rang laagaa || |
| Within the home of the heart are the nine treasures, filled to overflowing. He has fallen in love with the Lord's Name. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak jan prabh kadhae n visarai pooran jaa kae bhaagaa ||2|| |
| Servant Nanak shall never forget God; his destiny is perfectly fulfilled. ||2|| |

| ਛਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਸਗਲੀ ਤਪਤਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| shhaaeiaa prabh shhathrapath keenhee sagalee thapath binaasee raam || |
| God, the King, has given me shade under His canopy, and the fire of desire has been totally extinguished. |

| ਦੂਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਾਠਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਇਆ ਰਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| dhookh paap kaa ddaeraa dtaathaa kaaraj aaeiaa raasee raam || |
| The home of sorrow and sin has been demolished, and all affairs have been resolved. |
|
| ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸੋਵਤ ਬੈਸਤ ਖਲਿਆ ॥ |
| so prabh apunaa sadhaa dhhiaaeeai sovath baisath khaliaa || |
| Meditate forever on your God, when you sleep and sit and stand. |

| ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਈ ॥ |

| The Lord and Master is the treasure of virtue, the ocean of peace; He pervades the water, the land and the sky. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥ |

| Servant Nanak has entered God's Sanctuary; there is no other than Him. ||3|| |

| maeraa ghar baniaa ban thaal baniaa prabh parasae har raaeiaa raam || |
| My home is made, the garden and pool are made, and my Sovereign Lord God has met me. |

| ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੋਹਿਆ ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਸਰਸੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੰਗਲ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| maeraa man sohiaa meeth saajan sarasae gun mangal har gaaeiaa raam || |
| My mind is adorned, and my friends rejoice; I sing the songs of joy, and the Glorious Praises of the Lord. |

| ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਗਲ ਇਛਾ ਪਾਈਆ ॥ |
| gun gaae prabhoo dhhiaae saachaa sagal eishhaa paaeeaa || |
| Singing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord God, all desires are fulfilled. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਗੇ ਮਨਿ ਵਜੀਆ ਵਾਧਾਈਆ ॥ |
| gur charan laagae sadhaa jaagae man vajeeaa vaadhhaaeeaa || |
| Those who are attached to the Guru's Feet are always awake and aware; His Praises resound and resonate through their minds. |

| ਕਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਖਹ ਗਾਮੀ ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| karee nadhar suaamee sukheh gaamee halath palath savaariaa || |
| My Lord and Master, the bringer of peace, has blessed me with His Grace; He has arranged this world, and the world hereafter for me. |

| The terrifying world-ocean, the terrifying world-ocean - I have crossed over it, meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. |

| ਬੋਹਿਥੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਅਰਾਧੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| bohithharraa har charan araadhhae mil sathigur paar laghaaeae raam || |
| I worship and adore the Lord's Feet, the boat to carry me across. Meeting the True Guru, I am carried over. |

| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਤਰੀਐ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਮਰੀਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥ |
| gur sabadhee thareeai bahurr n mareeai chookai aavan jaanaa || |
| Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I cross over, and I shall not die again; my comings and goings are ended. |

| ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਉ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥ |
| jo kishh karai soee bhal maano thaa man sehaj samaanaa || |
| Whatever He does, I accept as good, and my mind merges in celestial peace. |

| ਦੂਖ ਨ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| dhookh n bhookh n rog n biaapai sukh saagar saranee paaeae || |
| Neither pain, nor hunger, nor disease afflicts me. I have found the Sanctuary of the Lord, the ocean of peace. |
