| ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਪ ਦਰਬੁ ਕੀਆ ਵਰਤਣ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥ |
| kar kar paap dharab keeaa varathan kai thaaee || |
| You commit sins again and again, to gather wealth to spend. |

| ਮਾਟੀ ਸਿਉ ਮਾਟੀ ਰਲੀ ਨਾਗਾ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| maattee sio maattee ralee naagaa outh jaaee ||2|| |
| But your dust shall mix with dust; you shall arise and depart naked. ||2|| |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕੀਐ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰੈ ਤੇ ਬੈਰ ਬਿਰੋਧੀ ॥ |
| jaa kai keeai sram karai thae bair birodhhee || |
| Those for whom you work, will become your spiteful enemies. |

| ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲਿ ਭਜਿ ਜਾਹਿਗੇ ਕਾਹੇ ਜਲਹੁ ਕਰੋਧੀ ॥੩॥ |
| anth kaal bhaj jaahigae kaahae jalahu karodhhee ||3|| |
| In the end, they will run away from you; why do you burn for them in anger? ||3|| |
|
| ਦਾਸ ਰੇਣੁ ਸੋਈ ਹੋਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮਾ ॥ |
| dhaas raen soee hoaa jis masathak karamaa || |
| He alone becomes the dust of the Lord's slaves, who has such good karma upon his forehead. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੁਟੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੩੬॥ |
| kahu naanak bandhhan shhuttae sathigur kee saranaa ||4||6||36|| |
| Says Nanak, he is released from bondage, in the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||4||6||36|| |

| The cripple crosses over the mountain, the fool becomes a wise man, |

| ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸੂਝਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਿ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ॥੧॥ |
| andhhulae thribhavan soojhiaa gur bhaett puneethaa ||1|| |
| and the blind man sees the three worlds, by meeting with the True Guru and being purified. ||1|| |

| ਮਹਿਮਾ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ਕੀ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ॥ |
| mehimaa saadhhoo sang kee sunahu maerae meethaa || |
| This is the Glory of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; listen, O my friends. |

| ਮੈਲੁ ਖੋਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਘ ਹਰੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਭਏ ਚੀਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| mail khoee kott agh harae niramal bheae cheethaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| Filth is washed away, millions of sins are dispelled, and the consciousness becomes immaculate and pure. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਐਸੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਕੀਟਿ ਹਸਤੀ ਜੀਤਾ ॥ |
| aisee bhagath govindh kee keett hasathee jeethaa || |
| Such is devotional worship of the Lord of the Universe, that the ant can overpower the elephant. |

| ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕੀਨੋ ਆਪਨੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਭੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਤਾ ॥੨॥ |
| jo jo keeno aapano this abhai dhaan dheethaa ||2|| |
| Whoever the Lord makes His own, is blessed with the gift of fearlessness. ||2|| |

| ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਦਮ ਆਢ ਕਉ ਤੇ ਗਨੀ ਧਨੀਤਾ ॥੩॥ |
| sram karathae dham aadt ko thae ganee dhhaneethaa ||3|| |
| Those who worked for half a shell, will be judged very wealthy. ||3|| |

| ਕਵਨ ਵਡਾਈ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਉ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਨੀਤਾ ॥ |
| kavan vaddaaee kehi sako baeanth guneethaa || |
| What glorious greatness of Yours can I describe, O Lord of infinite excellences? |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰ ਸਰੀਤਾ ॥੪॥੭॥੩੭॥ |
| kar kirapaa mohi naam dhaehu naanak dhar sareethaa ||4||7||37|| |
| Please bless me with Your Mercy, and grant me Your Name; O Nanak, I am lost without the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||4||7||37|| |

| He is constantly entangled in pride, conflict, greed and tasty flavors. |

| ਲਪਟਿ ਕਪਟਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਬਿਖਿਆਦਿ ॥੧॥ |
| lapatt kapatt grihi baedhhiaa mithhiaa bikhiaadh ||1|| |
| He is involved in deception, fraud, household affairs and corruption. ||1|| |
|
| ਐਸੀ ਪੇਖੀ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਮਹਿ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ |
| aisee paekhee naethr mehi poorae gur parasaadh || |
| I have seen this with my eyes, by the Grace of the Perfect Guru. |

| ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਖ ਧਨ ਜੋਬਨਾ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਦਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| raaj milakh dhhan jobanaa naamai bin baadh ||1|| rehaao || |
| Power, property, wealth and youth are useless, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| roop dhhoop sogandhhathaa kaapar bhogaadh || |
| Beauty, incense, scented oils, beautiful clothes and foods |

| ਮਿਲਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਪਿਸਟ ਤਨ ਹੋਏ ਦੁਰਗਾਦਿ ॥੨॥ |
| milath sang paapisatt than hoeae dhuragaadh ||2|| |
| - when they come into contact with the body of the sinner, they stink. ||2|| |
|
| ਫਿਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਮਾਨੁਖੁ ਭਇਆ ਖਿਨ ਭੰਗਨ ਦੇਹਾਦਿ ॥ |
| firath firath maanukh bhaeiaa khin bhangan dhaehaadh || |
| Wandering, wandering around, the soul is reincarnated as a human, but this body lasts only for an instant. |

| ਇਹ ਅਉਸਰ ਤੇ ਚੂਕਿਆ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਦਿ ॥੩॥ |

| Losing this opportunity, he must wander again through countless incarnations. ||3|| |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥ |

| By God's Grace,he meets the Guru; contemplating the Lord,Har, Har, he is wonderstruck. |

| The feet of the Saints are the boat, to cross over the world-ocean. |

| ਮਾਰਗ ਪਾਏ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਦਸੇ ਭੇਤ ॥੧॥ |
| maarag paaeae oudhiaan mehi gur dhasae bhaeth ||1|| |
| In the wilderness, the Guru places them on the Path, and reveals the secrets of the Lord's Mystery. ||1|| |

| While standing up, sitting down and sleeping, think of the Lord, Har Har Har. ||1||Pause|| |

| panch chor aagai bhagae jab saadhhasangaeth || |
| The five thieves run away, when one joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. |

| ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਘਣੋ ਲਾਭੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੇਤ ॥੨॥ |
| poonjee saabath ghano laabh grihi sobhaa saeth ||2|| |
| His investment is intact, and he earns great profits; his household is blessed with honor. ||2|| |
|
| ਨਿਹਚਲ ਆਸਣੁ ਮਿਟੀ ਚਿੰਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਡੋਲੇਤ ॥ |
| nihachal aasan mittee chinth naahee ddolaeth || |
| His position is unmoving and eternal, his anxiety is ended, and he wavers no more. |
|
| ਭਰਮੁ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਤ ਨੇਤ ॥੩॥ |
| bharam bhulaavaa mitt gaeiaa prabh paekhath naeth ||3|| |
| His doubts and misgivings are dispelled, and he sees God everywhere. ||3|| |
|
| ਗੁਣ ਗਭੀਰ ਗੁਨ ਨਾਇਕਾ ਗੁਣ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਕੇਤ ॥ |
| gun gabheer gun naaeikaa gun keheeahi kaeth || |
| The Virtues of our Virtuous Lord and Master are so profound; how many of His Glorious Virtues should I speak? |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰੇਤ ॥੪॥੯॥੩੯॥ |
| naanak paaeiaa saadhhasang har har anmraeth ||4||9||39|| |
| Nanak has obtained the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord, Har, Har, in the Company of the Holy. ||4||9||39|| |

| That life, which has no contact with the Holy, is useless. |
|
| ਮਿਲਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਭਿ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਮਿਟੇ ਗਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| milath sang sabh bhram mittae gath bhee hamaaree ||1|| |
| Joining their congregation, all doubts are dispelled, and I am emancipated. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਾ ਦਿਨ ਭੇਟੇ ਸਾਧ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਆ ਦਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ |
| jaa dhin bhaettae saadhh mohi ouaa dhin balihaaree || |
| That day, when I meet with the Holy - I am a sacrifice to that day. |
|
| ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਪਨੋ ਜੀਅਰਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| than man apano jeearaa fir fir ho vaaree ||1|| rehaao || |
| Again and again, I sacrifice my body, mind and soul to them. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਏਤ ਛਡਾਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਤੇ ਇਤਨੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾਰੀ ॥ |
| eaeth shhaddaaee mohi thae eithanee dhrirrathaaree || |
| They have helped me renounce this ego, and implant this humility within myself. |
|
| ਸਗਲ ਰੇਨ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਅਪਧਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| sagal raen eihu man bhaeiaa binasee apadhhaaree ||2|| |
| This mind has become the dust of all men's feet, and my self-conceit has been dispelled. ||2|| |
|
| ਨਿੰਦ ਚਿੰਦ ਪਰ ਦੂਖਨਾ ਏ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਰੀ ॥ |
| nindh chindh par dhookhanaa eae khin mehi jaaree || |
| In an instant, I burnt away the ideas of slander and ill-will towards others. |
|
| ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਅਰੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਪੇਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਰਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ |
| dhaeiaa maeiaa ar nikatt paekh naahee dhooraaree ||3|| |
| I see close at hand, the Lord of mercy and compassion; He is not far away at all. ||3|| |
|
| ਤਨ ਮਨ ਸੀਤਲ ਭਏ ਅਬ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥ |
| than man seethal bheae ab mukathae sansaaree || |
| My body and mind are cooled and soothed, and now, I am liberated from the world. |

| ਹੀਤ ਚੀਤ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਧਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੪੦॥ |
| heeth cheeth sabh praan dhhan naanak dharasaaree ||4||10||40|| |
| Love, consciousness, the breath of life, wealth and everything, O Nanak, are in the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||4||10||40|| |
