| I perform service for Your slave, O Lord, and wipe his feet with my hair. |

| masathak apanaa bhaett dhaeo gun suno rasaal ||1|| |
| I offer my head to him, and listen to the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the source of bliss. ||1|| |

| ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਿਲਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਓ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| thumh milathae maeraa man jeeou thumh milahu dhaeiaal || |
| Meeting You, my mind is rejuvenated, so please meet me, O Merciful Lord. |

| ਜਗਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਸਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਲਾਗਹੁ ਪਾਲ ॥ |
| jagath oudhhaaran saadhh prabh thinh laagahu paal || |
| God's Holy people are the saviors of the world; I grab hold of the hem of their robes. |

| ਮੋ ਕਉ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਗ ਰਾਲ ॥੨॥ |
| mo ko dheejai dhaan prabh santhan pag raal ||2|| |
| Bless me, O God, with the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||2|| |

| ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਕਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਘਾਲ ॥ |
| oukath siaanap kashh nehee naahee kashh ghaal || |
| I have no skill or wisdom at all, nor any work to my credit. |

| ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਮੋਹ ਤੇ ਕਾਟਹੁ ਜਮ ਜਾਲ ॥੩॥ |
| bhram bhai raakhahu moh thae kaattahu jam jaal ||3|| |
| Please, protect me from doubt, fear and emotional attachment, and cut away the noose of Death from my neck. ||3|| |

| ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰਉ ਕਰੁਣਾਪਤੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥ |
| bino karo karunaapathae pithaa prathipaal || |
| I beg of You, O Lord of Mercy, O my Father, please cherish me! |

| keethaa lorrehi so karehi thujh bin kashh naahi || |
| Whatever You wish, You do. Without You, there is nothing. |

| ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਛਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ |
| parathaap thumhaaraa dhaekh kai jamadhooth shhadd jaahi ||1|| |
| Gazing upon Your Glory, the Messenger of Death leaves and goes away. ||1|| |
|
| ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ॥ |
| thumharee kirapaa thae shhootteeai binasai ahanmaev || |
| By Your Grace, one is emancipated, and egotism is dispelled. |

| ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sarab kalaa samarathh prabh poorae guradhaev ||1|| rehaao || |
| God is omnipotent, possessing all powers; He is obtained through the Perfect, Divine Guru. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਿਆ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੂਰੁ ॥ |

| Searching, searching, searching - without the Naam, everything is false. |

| ਜੀਵਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੁ ॥੨॥ |
| jeevan sukh sabh saadhhasang prabh manasaa poor ||2|| |
| All the comforts of life are found in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; God is the Fulfiller of desires. ||2|| |

| ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਹਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਭ ਜਾਲੀ ॥ |
| jith jith laavahu thith thith lagehi siaanap sabh jaalee || |
| Whatever You attach me to, to that I am attached; I have burnt away all my cleverness. |

| ਜਤ ਕਤ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲੀ ॥੩॥ |
| jath kath thumh bharapoor hahu maerae dheen dhaeiaalee ||3|| |
| You are permeating and pervading everywhere, O my Lord, Merciful to the meek. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਨਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| sabh kishh thum thae maaganaa vaddabhaagee paaeae || |
| I ask for everything from You, but only the very fortunate ones obtain it. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਵਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੪੨॥ |
| naanak kee aradhaas prabh jeevaa gun gaaeae ||4||12||42|| |
| This is Nanak's prayer, O God, I live by singing Your Glorious Praises. ||4||12||42|| |

| Dwelling in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all sins are erased. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਿਆ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਗ੍ਰਸਨਾ ॥੧॥ |
| prabh saethee rang raathiaa thaa thae garabh n grasanaa ||1|| |
| One who is attuned to the Love of God, is not cast into the womb of reincarnation. ||1|| |
|
| ਨਾਮੁ ਕਹਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਸੂਚੀ ਭਈ ਰਸਨਾ ॥ |
| naam kehath govindh kaa soochee bhee rasanaa || |
| Chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, the tongue becomes holy. |

| ਮਨ ਤਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਜਪੁ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| man than niramal hoee hai gur kaa jap japanaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| The mind and body become immaculate and pure, chanting the Chant of the Guru. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਤ ਧ੍ਰਾਪਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਰਸੁ ਲੈ ਹਸਨਾ ॥ |
| har ras chaakhath dhhraapiaa man ras lai hasanaa || |
| Tasting the subtle essence of the Lord, one is satisfied; receiving this essence, the mind becomes happy. |

| ਬੁਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਈ ਉਲਟਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸਨਾ ॥੨॥ |
| budhh pragaas pragatt bhee oulatt kamal bigasanaa ||2|| |
| The intellect is brightened and illuminated; turning away from the world, the heart-lotus blossoms forth. ||2|| |
|
| ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਭ ਬੂਝੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ॥ |
| seethal saanth santhokh hoe sabh boojhee thrisanaa || |
| He is cooled and soothed, peaceful and content; all his thirst is quenched. |
|
| ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਵਤ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਥਾਨਿ ਬਸਨਾ ॥੩॥ |
| dheh dhis dhhaavath mitt geae niramal thhaan basanaa ||3|| |
| The mind's wandering in the ten directions is stopped, and one dwells in the immaculate place. ||3|| |
|
| ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਭਏ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਸਨਾ ॥ |
| raakhanehaarai raakhiaa bheae bhram bhasanaa || |
| The Savior Lord saves him, and his doubts are burnt to ashes. |
|
| ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਸਾਧ ਦਰਸਨਾ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੪੩॥ |
| naam nidhhaan naanak sukhee paekh saadhh dharasanaa ||4||13||43|| |
| Nanak is blessed with the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. He finds peace, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Saints' Darshan. ||4||13||43|| |

| paanee pakhaa pees dhaas kai thab hohi nihaal || |
| Carry water for the Lord's slave wave the fan over him and grind his corn; then, you shall be happy. |

| ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਖ ਸਿਕਦਾਰੀਆ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ |
| raaj milakh sikadhaareeaa aganee mehi jaal ||1|| |
| Burn in the fire your power, property and authority. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਛੋਹਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ॥ |
| santh janaa kaa shhoharaa this charanee laag || |
| Grasp hold of the feet of the servant of the humble Saints. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆਧਾਰੀ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਛੋਡਉ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| maaeiaadhhaaree shhathrapath thinh shhoddo thiaag ||1|| rehaao || |
| Renounce and abandon the wealthy, the regal overlords and kings. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਨਾ ਰੂਖਾ ਸੋ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥ |
| santhan kaa dhaanaa rookhaa so sarab nidhhaan || |
| The dry bread of the Saints is equal to all treasures. |
|
| ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਛਤੀਹ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਬਿਖੂ ਸਮਾਨ ॥੨॥ |
| grihi saakath shhatheeh prakaar thae bikhoo samaan ||2|| |
| The thirty-six tasty dishes of the faithless cynic, are just like poison. ||2|| |
|
| ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਲੂਗਰਾ ਓਢਿ ਨਗਨ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| bhagath janaa kaa loogaraa oudt nagan n hoee || |
| Wearing the old blankets of the humble devotees, one is not naked. |
|
| ਸਾਕਤ ਸਿਰਪਾਉ ਰੇਸਮੀ ਪਹਿਰਤ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੩॥ |
| saakath sirapaao raesamee pehirath path khoee ||3|| |
| But by putting on the silk clothes of the faithless cynic, one loses one's honor. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਾਕਤ ਸਿਉ ਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਰਿਐ ਅਧ ਵੀਚਹੁ ਟੂਟੈ ॥ |
| saakath sio mukh joriai adhh veechahu ttoottai || |
| Friendship with the faithless cynic breaks down mid-way. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਜੋ ਕਰੇ ਇਤ ਊਤਹਿ ਛੂਟੈ ॥੪॥ |
| har jan kee saevaa jo karae eith oothehi shhoottai ||4|| |
| But whoever serves the humble servants of the Lord, is emancipated here and hereafter. ||4|| |
|
| ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਆ ਆਪਿ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥ |

| Everything comes from You, O Lord; You Yourself created the creation. |

| sravanee suno har har harae thaakur jas gaavo || |
| With my ears, I listen to the Lord, Har, Har; I sing the Praises of my Lord and Master. |

| ਸੰਤ ਚਰਣ ਕਰ ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥੧॥ |
| santh charan kar sees dhhar har naam dhhiaavo ||1|| |
| I place my hands and my head upon the feet of the Saints, and meditate on the Lord's Name. ||1|| |
|
| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਇਹ ਨਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਵਉ ॥ |
| kar kirapaa dhaeiaal prabh eih nidhh sidhh paavo || |
| Be kind to me, O Merciful God, and bless me with this wealth and success. |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁਕਾ ਲੈ ਮਾਥੈ ਲਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| santh janaa kee raenukaa lai maathhai laavo ||1|| rehaao || |
| Obtaining the dust of the feet of the Saints, I apply it to my forehead. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਨੀਚ ਤੇ ਨੀਚੁ ਅਤਿ ਨੀਚੁ ਹੋਇ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਨਉ ਬੁਲਾਵਉ ॥ |
| neech thae neech ath neech hoe kar bino bulaavo || |
| I am the lowest of the low, absolutely the lowest; I offer my humble prayer. |

| ਪਾਵ ਮਲੋਵਾ ਆਪੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਵਉ ॥੨॥ |
| paav malovaa aap thiaag santhasang samaavo ||2|| |
| I wash their feet, and renounce my self-conceit; I merge in the Saints' Congregation. ||2|| |
