| ਮੋਹਨ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਾਵੈ ਹਾਰ ਕਜਰ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਭਰਨ ਕੀਨੇ ॥ |
| mohan needh n aavai haavai haar kajar basathr abharan keenae || |
| O Enticing Lord, I cannot sleep; I sigh. I am adorned with necklaces, gowns, ornaments and make-up. |

| ਉਡੀਨੀ ਉਡੀਨੀ ਉਡੀਨੀ ॥ |
| ouddeenee ouddeenee ouddeenee || |
| I am sad, sad and depressed. |
|
| ਕਬ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| When will You come home? ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਰਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਚਰਨ ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰਿ ॥ |
| saran suhaagan charan sees dhhar || |
| I seek the Sanctuary of the happy soul-brides; I place my head upon their feet. |

| ਲਾਲਨੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ॥ |
| laalan mohi milaavahu || |
| Unite me with my Beloved. |
|
| ਕਬ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| kab ghar aavai ree ||1|| |
| When will He come to my home? ||1|| |
|
| ਸੁਨਹੁ ਸਹੇਰੀ ਮਿਲਨ ਬਾਤ ਕਹਉ ਸਗਰੋ ਅਹੰ ਮਿਟਾਵਹੁ ਤਉ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥ |
| sunahu sehaeree milan baath keho sagaro ahan mittaavahu tho ghar hee laalan paavahu || |
| Listen, my companions: tell me how to meet Him. Eradicate all egotism, and then you shall find your Beloved Lord within the home of your heart. |
|
| ਤਬ ਰਸ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥ |
| thab ras mangal gun gaavahu || |
| Then, in delight, you shall sing the songs of joy and praise. |
|
| ਆਨਦ ਰੂਪ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ॥ |
| aanadh roop dhhiaavahu || |
| Meditate on the Lord, the embodiment of bliss. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਆਇਓ ॥ |
| naanak dhuaarai aaeiou || |
| O Nanak, I came to the Lord's Door, |
|
| ਤਉ ਮੈ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| tho mai laalan paaeiou ree ||2|| |
| and then, I found my Beloved. ||2|| |
|
| ਮੋਹਨ ਰੂਪੁ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ॥ |
| mohan roop dhikhaavai || |
| The Enticing Lord has revealed His form to me, |
|
| ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਨੀਦ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥ |
| ab mohi needh suhaavai || |
| and now, sleep seems sweet to me. |
|
| ਸਭ ਮੇਰੀ ਤਿਖਾ ਬੁਝਾਨੀ ॥ |
| sabh maeree thikhaa bujhaanee || |
| My thirst is totally quenched, |
|
| ਅਬ ਮੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥ |
| ab mai sehaj samaanee || |
| and now, I am absorbed in celestial bliss. |
|
| ਮੀਠੀ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥ |
| meethee pirehi kehaanee || |
| How sweet is the story of my Husband Lord. |
|
| ਮੋਹਨੁ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥੧੨੮॥ |

| ਮੋਰੀ ਅਹੰ ਜਾਇ ਦਰਸਨ ਪਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥ |
| moree ahan jaae dharasan paavath hae || |
| My ego is gone; I have obtained the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. |
|
| ਰਾਚਹੁ ਨਾਥ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਈ ਸੰਤਨਾ ॥ |
| raachahu naathh hee sehaaee santhanaa || |
| I am absorbed in my Lord and Master, the help and support of the Saints. |
|
| ਅਬ ਚਰਨ ਗਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ab charan gehae ||1|| rehaao || |
| Now, I hold tight to His Feet. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਆਹੇ ਮਨ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਚਰਨਾਵੈ ਚਰਨਾਵੈ ਉਲਝਿਓ ਅਲਿ ਮਕਰੰਦ ਕਮਲ ਜਿਉ ॥ |
| aahae man avar n bhaavai charanaavai charanaavai oulajhiou al makarandh kamal jio || |
| My mind longs for Him, and does not love any other. I am totally absorbed, in love with His Lotus Feet, like the bumble bee attached to the honey of the lotus flower. |

| ਅਨ ਰਸ ਨਹੀ ਚਾਹੈ ਏਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਹੈ ॥੧॥ |
| an ras nehee chaahai eaekai har laahai ||1|| |
| I do not desire any other taste; I seek only the One Lord. ||1|| |

| ਅਨ ਤੇ ਟੂਟੀਐ ਰਿਖ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੀਐ ॥ |
| an thae ttootteeai rikh thae shhootteeai || |
| I have broken away from the others, and I have been released from the Messenger of Death. |
|
| ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਘੂਟੀਐ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਉਲਟੀਐ ॥ |
| man har ras ghootteeai sang saadhhoo oulatteeai || |
| O mind, drink in the subtle essence of the Lord; join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and turn away from the world. |
|
| ਅਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ॥ |
| an naahee naahee rae || |
| There is no other, none other than the Lord. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਰਨ ਚਰਨ ਹੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੨੯॥ |

| O Nanak, love the Feet, the Feet of the Lord. ||2||2||129|| |

| ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੋ ॥ |
| dhukh harathaa har naam pashhaano || |
| The Name of the Lord is the Dispeller of sorrow - realize this. |
|
| ਅਜਾਮਲੁ ਗਨਿਕਾ ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮੁਕਤ ਭਏ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ajaamal ganikaa jih simarath mukath bheae jeea jaano ||1|| rehaao || |
| Remembering Him in meditation, even Ajaamal the robber and Ganikaa the prostitute were liberated; let your soul know this. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਗਜ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟੀ ਛਿਨਹੂ ਮਹਿ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਖਾਨੋ ॥ |
| gaj kee thraas mittee shhinehoo mehi jab hee raam bakhaano || |
| The elephant's fear was taken away in an instant, as soon as he chanted the Lord's Name. |
|
| ਨਾਰਦ ਕਹਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਧ੍ਰੂਅ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਭਜਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਨੋ ॥੧॥ |
| naaradh kehath sunath dhhrooa baarik bhajan maahi lapattaano ||1|| |
| Listening to Naarad's teachings, the child Dhroo was absorbed in deep meditation. ||1|| |
|
| ਅਚਲ ਅਮਰ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਜਗਤ ਜਾਹਿ ਹੈਰਾਨੋ ॥ |
| achal amar nirabhai padh paaeiou jagath jaahi hairaano || |
| He obtained the immovable, eternal state of fearlessness, and all the world was amazed. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਭਗਤ ਰਛਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਮਾਨੋ ॥੨॥੧॥ |
| naanak kehath bhagath rashhak har nikatt thaahi thum maano ||2||1|| |
| Says Nanak, the Lord is the Saving Grace and the Protector of His devotees; believe it - He is close to you. ||2||1|| |

| Bilaaval, Ninth Mehl: |

| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
| har kae naam binaa dhukh paavai || |
| Without the Name of the Lord, you shall only find pain. |
|
| ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਹਸਾ ਨਹ ਚੂਕੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਭੇਦੁ ਬਤਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| bhagath binaa sehasaa neh chookai gur eihu bhaedh bathaavai ||1|| rehaao || |
| Without devotional worship, doubt is not dispelled; the Guru has revealed this secret. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਜੋਗ ਜਗ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਨਉ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਸੁ ਬਿਸਰਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
| jog jag nihafal thih maano jo prabh jas bisaraavai ||1|| |
| Know that Yoga and sacrificial feasts are fruitless, if one forgets the Praises of God. ||1|| |
|
| ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਦੋਨੋ ਕਉ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥ |
| maan moh dhono ko parehar gobindh kae gun gaavai || |
| One who lays aside both pride and attachment, sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੨॥ |
| kahu naanak eih bidhh ko praanee jeevan mukath kehaavai ||2||2|| |
| Says Nanak, the mortal who does this is said to be 'jivan mukta' - liberated while yet alive. ||2||2|| |

| ਜਾ ਮੈ ਭਜਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| jaa mai bhajan raam ko naahee || |
| There is no meditation on the Lord within him. |
|
| ਤਿਹ ਨਰ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਰਥੁ ਖੋਇਆ ਯਹ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| thih nar janam akaarathh khoeiaa yeh raakhahu man maahee ||1|| rehaao || |
| That man wastes his life uselessly - keep this in mind. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਤੀਰਥ ਕਰੈ ਬ੍ਰਤ ਫੁਨਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਨਹ ਮਨੂਆ ਬਸਿ ਜਾ ਕੋ ॥ |
| theerathh karai brath fun raakhai neh manooaa bas jaa ko || |
| He bathes at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, and adheres to fasts, but he has no control over his mind. |
|
| ਨਿਹਫਲ ਧਰਮੁ ਤਾਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹਤ ਮੈ ਯਾ ਕਉ ॥੧॥ |
| nihafal dhharam thaahi thum maanahu saach kehath mai yaa ko ||1|| |
| Know that such religion is useless to him. I speak the Truth for his sake. ||1|| |
|
| ਜੈਸੇ ਪਾਹਨੁ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਭੇਦੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਨੀ ॥ |
| jaisae paahan jal mehi raakhiou bhaedhai naahi thih paanee || |
| It's like a stone, kept immersed in water; still, the water does not penetrate it. |
|
| ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਤੁਮ ਤਾਹਿ ਪਛਾਨਹੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੀਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥੨॥ |
| thaisae hee thum thaahi pashhaanahu bhagath heen jo praanee ||2|| |
| So, understand it: that mortal being who lacks devotional worship is just like that. ||2|| |
