ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਸੁਨਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੇਇ ॥ |
gun gaae sun likh dhaee || |
One who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and hears them, and writes them, |
|
ਸੋ ਸਰਬ ਫਲ ਹਰਿ ਲੇਇ ॥ |
so sarab fal har laee || |
receives all fruits and rewards from the Lord. |
|
ਕੁਲ ਸਮੂਹ ਕਰਤ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
kul samooh karath oudhhaar || |
He saves all his ancestors and generations, |
|
ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥ |
sansaar outharas paar || |
and crosses over the world-ocean. |
|
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਤਾਹਿ ॥ |
har charan bohithh thaahi || |
The Lord's Feet are the boat to carry him across. |
|
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਹਿ ॥ |
mil saadhhasang jas gaahi || |
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he sings the Praises of the Lord. |
|
ਹਰਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥ |
har paij rakhai muraar || |
The Lord protects his honor. |
|
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥੧੦॥੨॥ |
har naanak saran dhuaar ||10||2|| |
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord's door. ||10||2|| |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: |

ਏਕਮ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ॥ |
eaekam eaekankaar niraalaa || |
The First Day: The One Universal Creator is unique, |
|
ਅਮਰੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਲਾ ॥ |
amar ajonee jaath n jaalaa || |
immortal, unborn, beyond social class or involvement. |
|
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ॥ |
agam agochar roop n raekhiaa || |
He is inaccessible and unfathomable, with no form or feature. |
|
ਜੋ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
jo dhaekh dhikhaavai this ko bal jaaee || |
I am a sacrifice to one who sees, and inspires others to see Him. |

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
gur parasaadh param padh paaee ||1|| |
By Guru's Grace, I have obtained the supreme status. ||1|| |

ਕਿਆ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਗਦੀਸੈ ॥ |
kiaa jap jaapo bin jagadheesai || |
Whose Name should I chant, and meditate on, except the Lord of the Universe? |

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਦੀਸੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
gur kai sabadh mehal ghar dheesai ||1|| rehaao || |
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Mansion of the Lord's Presence is revealed within the home of one's own heart. ||1||Pause|| |

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਗੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੇ ॥ |
dhoojai bhaae lagae pashhuthaanae || |
The Second Day: Those who are in love with another, come to regret and repent. |
|
ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧੇ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੇ ॥ |
jam dhar baadhhae aavan jaanae || |
The are tied up at Death's door, and continue coming and going. |
|
ਕਿਆ ਲੈ ਆਵਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਲੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ |
kiaa lai aavehi kiaa lae jaahi || |
What have they brought, and what will they take with them when they go? |
|
ਸਿਰਿ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਸਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਹਿ ॥ |
sir jamakaal s chottaa khaahi || |
The Messenger of Death looms over their heads, and they endure his beating. |
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਨ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
bin gur sabadh n shhoottas koe || |
Without the Word of the Guru's Shabad, no one finds release. |
|
ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ |
paakhandd keenhai mukath n hoe ||2|| |
Practicing hypocrisy, no one finds liberation. ||2|| |
|
ਆਪੇ ਸਚੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ॥ |
aapae sach keeaa kar jorr || |
The True Lord Himself created the universe, joining the elements together. |
|
ਅੰਡਜ ਫੋੜਿ ਜੋੜਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਿ ॥ |
anddaj forr jorr vishhorr || |
Breaking the cosmic egg, He united, and separated. |
|
ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਕੀਏ ਬੈਸਣ ਕਉ ਥਾਉ ॥ |
dhharath akaas keeeae baisan ko thhaao || |
He made the earth and the sky into places to live. |
|
ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਨੰਤੁ ਕੀਏ ਭਉ ਭਾਉ ॥ |
raath dhinanth keeeae bho bhaao || |
He created day and night, fear and love. |
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ |
jin keeeae kar vaekhanehaaraa || |
The One who created the Creation, also watches over it. |
|
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ |
avar n dhoojaa sirajanehaaraa ||3|| |
There is no other Creator Lord. ||3|| |
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸਾ ॥ |
thritheeaa brehamaa bisan mehaesaa || |
The Third Day: He created Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, |
|
ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵ ਉਪਾਏ ਵੇਸਾ ॥ |
dhaevee dhaev oupaaeae vaesaa || |
the gods, goddesses and various manifestations. |
|
ਜੋਤੀ ਜਾਤੀ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ |
jothee jaathee ganath n aavai || |
The lights and forms cannot be counted. |
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
jin saajee so keemath paavai || |
The One who fashioned them, knows their value. |
|
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ |
keemath paae rehiaa bharapoor || |
He evaluates them, and totally pervades them. |
|
ਕਿਸੁ ਨੇੜੈ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖਾ ਦੂਰਿ ॥੪॥ |
kis naerrai kis aakhaa dhoor ||4|| |
Who is close, and who is far away? ||4|| |
|
ਚਉਥਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਚਾਰੇ ਬੇਦਾ ॥ |
chouthh oupaaeae chaarae baedhaa || |
The Fourth Day: He created the four Vedas, |
|
ਖਾਣੀ ਚਾਰੇ ਬਾਣੀ ਭੇਦਾ ॥ |
khaanee chaarae baanee bhaedhaa || |
the four sources of creation, and distinct forms of speech. |
|
ਅਸਟ ਦਸਾ ਖਟੁ ਤੀਨਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ |
asatt dhasaa khatt theen oupaaeae || |
He created the eighteen Puraanas, the six Shaastras and the three qualities. |
|
ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥ |
so boojhai jis aap bujhaaeae || |
He alone understands, whom the Lord causes to understand. |
|
ਤੀਨਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਚਉਥੈ ਵਾਸਾ ॥ |
theen samaavai chouthhai vaasaa || |
One who overcomes the three qualities, dwells in the fourth state. |
|
ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੫॥ |
pranavath naanak ham thaa kae dhaasaa ||5|| |
Prays Nanak, I am his slave. ||5|| |
|
ਪੰਚਮੀ ਪੰਚ ਭੂਤ ਬੇਤਾਲਾ ॥ |
panchamee panch bhooth baethaalaa || |
The Fifth Day: The five elements are demons. |
|
ਆਪਿ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ॥ |
aap agochar purakh niraalaa || |
The Lord Himself is unfathomable and detached. |
|
ਇਕਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭੂਖੇ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਸੇ ॥ |
eik bhram bhookhae moh piaasae || |
Some are gripped by doubt, hunger, emotional attachment and desire. |
|
ਇਕਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ॥ |
eik ras chaakh sabadh thripathaasae || |
Some taste the sublime essence of the Shabad, and are satisfied. |
|
ਇਕਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਇਕਿ ਮਰਿ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ |
eik rang raathae eik mar dhhoor || |
Some are imbued with the Lord's Love, while some die, and are reduced to dust. |
|
ਇਕਿ ਦਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੬॥ |
eik dhar ghar saachai dhaekh hadhoor ||6|| |
Some attain the Court and the Mansion of the True Lord, and behold Him, ever-present. ||6|| |

ਝੂਠੇ ਕਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
jhoothae ko naahee path naao || |
The false one has no honor or fame; |
|
ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਸੂਚਾ ਕਾਲਾ ਕਾਉ ॥ |
kabahu n soochaa kaalaa kaao || |
like the black crow, he never becomes pure. |
|
ਪਿੰਜਰਿ ਪੰਖੀ ਬੰਧਿਆ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
pinjar pankhee bandhhiaa koe || |
He is like the bird, imprisoned in a cage; |
