| The slanderer of the Saints is thrown down from the skies. |

| ਸੰਤ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਉ ਅਪਨੇ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ |

| I hold the Saints close to my soul. |

| ਸੰਤ ਉਧਾਰਉ ਤਤਖਿਣ ਤਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ |
| santh oudhhaaro thathakhin thaal ||1|| |
| The Saints are saved instantaneously. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੋਈ ਸੰਤੁ ਜਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥ |

| He alone is a Saint, who is pleasing to the Lord. |

| ਸੰਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੈ ਏਕੈ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| The Saints, and God, have only one job to do. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸੰਤ ਕੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਾਥ ॥ |
| santh kai oopar dhaee prabh haathh || |
| God gives His hand to shelter the Saints. |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ |
| santh kai sang basai dhin raath || |
| He dwells with His Saints, day and night. |
|
| ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸੰਤਹ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਿ ॥ |
| saas saas santheh prathipaal || |
| With each and every breath, He cherishes His Saints. |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਦੋਖੀ ਰਾਜ ਤੇ ਟਾਲਿ ॥੨॥ |
| santh kaa dhokhee raaj thae ttaal ||2|| |
| He takes the power away from the enemies of the Saints. ||2|| |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| santh kee nindhaa karahu n koe || |
| Let no one slander the Saints. |
|
| ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਪਤਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| jo nindhai this kaa pathan hoe || |
| Whoever slanders them, will be destroyed. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੁ ॥ |
| jis ko raakhai sirajanehaar || |
| One who is protected by the Creator Lord, |
|
| ਝਖ ਮਾਰਉ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੩॥ |
| jhakh maaro sagal sansaar ||3|| |
| cannot be harmed, no matter how much the whole world may try. ||3|| |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਭਇਆ ਬਿਸਾਸੁ ॥ |
| prabh apanae kaa bhaeiaa bisaas || |
| I place my faith in my God. |
|
| ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
| jeeo pindd sabh this kee raas || |
| My soul and body all belong to Him. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਉਪਜੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥ |

| This is the faith which inspires Nanak: |

| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਾਰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਦ ਜੀਤਿ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੧੮॥ |
| manamukh haar guramukh sadh jeeth ||4||16||18|| |
| the self-willed manmukhs will fail, while the Gurmukhs will always win. ||4||16||18|| |

| The Name of the Immaculate Lord is the Ambrosial Water. |

| ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥ |
| naaraaein sabh maahi nivaas || |
| The Lord abides in everyone. |
|
| ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥ |
| naaraaein ghatt ghatt paragaas || |
| The Lord illumines each and every heart. |
|
| ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਹਤੇ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ |
| naaraaein kehathae narak n jaahi || |
| Chanting the Lord's Name, one does not fall into hell. |
|
| ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਗਲ ਫਲ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ |

| Serving the Lord, all fruitful rewards are obtained. ||1|| |

| Within my mind is the Support of the Lord. |

| The Lord is the boat to cross over the world-ocean. |

| Chant the Lord's Name, and the Messenger of Death will run away. |

| ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੰਤ ਭਾਨੇ ਡਾਇਣ ॥੨॥ |

| The Lord breaks the teeth of Maya, the witch. ||2|| |

| The Lord is forever and ever the Forgiver. |

| The Lord blesses us with peace and bliss. |

| The Lord has revealed His glory. |

| The Lord is the mother and father of His Saint. ||3|| |

| The Lord, the Lord, is in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. |
|
| ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਨਰਾਇਣ ਗਾਇਣ ॥ |
| baaran baar naraaein gaaein || |
| Time and time again, I sing the Lord's Praises. |
|
| ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਲਹੀ ॥ |
| basath agochar gur mil lehee || |
| Meeting with the Guru, I have attained the incomprehensible object. |
|

| this kaa ang karae nirankaar ||1|| rehaao || |
| - the Formless Lord is on his side. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਜੋਹੈ ॥ |
| maath garabh mehi agan n johai || |
| In the mother's womb, the fire does not touch him. |
|
| ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ॥ |
| kaam krodhh lobh mohu n pohai || |
| Sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment do not affect him. |
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ |
| saadhhasang japai nirankaar || |
| In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he meditates on the Formless Lord. |
|
| ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ |
| nindhak kai muhi laagai shhaar ||1|| |
| Dust is thrown into the faces of the slanderers. ||1|| |
|
| ਰਾਮ ਕਵਚੁ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਸੰਨਾਹੁ ॥ |
| raam kavach dhaas kaa sannaahu || |
| The Lord's protective spell is the armor of His slave. |
|
| ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਟ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੋਹਤ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ |
| dhooth dhusatt this pohath naahi || |
| The wicked, evil demons cannot even touch him. |
|
| ਜੋ ਜੋ ਗਰਬੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| jo jo garab karae so jaae || |
| Whoever indulges in egotistical pride, shall waste away to ruin. |
|
| ਗਰੀਬ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| gareeb dhaas kee prabh saranaae ||2|| |
| God is the Sanctuary of His humble slave. ||2|| |
|
| ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥ |
| jo jo saran paeiaa har raae || |
| Whoever enters the Sanctuary of the Sovereign Lord |
|
| ਸੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਅਪਣੈ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| so dhaas rakhiaa apanai kanth laae || |
| - He saves that slave, hugging him close in His embrace. |
|
| ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ |
| jae ko bahuth karae ahankaar || |
| Whoever takes great pride in himself, |
|
| ਓਹੁ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰੁਲਤਾ ਖਾਕੂ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੩॥ |
| ouhu khin mehi rulathaa khaakoo naal ||3|| |
| in an instant, shall be like dust mixing with dust. ||3|| |
