| He satisfies the kings, emperors and nobles. |

| ਦੁਸਟ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਚਾਏ ॥ |
| dhusatt ahankaaree maar pachaaeae || |
| He destroys the egotistical villains. |
 |
| ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਰੋਗੁ ॥ |
| nindhak kai mukh keeno rog || |
| He puts illness into the mouths of the slanderers. |
 |
| ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਲੋਗੁ ॥੨॥ |
| jai jai kaar karai sabh log ||2|| |
| All the people celebrate His victory. ||2|| |
 |
| ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥ |
| santhan kai man mehaa anandh || |
| Supreme bliss fills the minds of the Saints. |
 |
| ਸੰਤ ਜਪਹਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥ |
| santh japehi guradhaeo bhagavanth || |
| The Saints meditate on the Divine Guru, the Lord God. |
 |
| ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਏ ॥ |
| sangath kae mukh oojal bheae || |
| The faces of His companions become radiant and bright. |
 |
| ਸਗਲ ਥਾਨ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੇ ਗਏ ॥੩॥ |
| sagal thhaan nindhak kae geae ||3|| |
| The slanderers lose all places of rest. ||3|| |
 |
| ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਜਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੇ ॥ |
| saas saas jan sadhaa salaahae || |
| With each and every breath, the Lord's humble slaves praise Him. |
 |
| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥ |
| paarabreham gur baeparavaahae || |
| The Supreme Lord God and the Guru are care-free. |
 |
| ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਮਿਟੇ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ॥ |
| sagal bhai mittae jaa kee saran || |
| All fears are eradicated, in His Sanctuary. |
 |
| ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਭਿ ਧਰਨਿ ॥੪॥ |
| nindhak maar paaeae sabh dhharan ||4|| |
| Smashing all the slanderers, the Lord knocks them to the ground. ||4|| |
 |
| ਜਨ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| jan kee nindhaa karai n koe || |
| Let no one slander the Lord's humble servants. |
 |
| ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਸੋ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| jo karai so dhukheeaa hoe || |
| Whoever does so, will be miserable. |
 |
| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਜਨੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ |
| aath pehar jan eaek dhhiaaeae || |
| Twenty-four hours a day, the Lord's humble servant meditates on Him alone. |
 |
| ਜਮੂਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੫॥ |
| jamooaa thaa kai nikatt n jaaeae ||5|| |
| The Messenger of Death does not even approach him. ||5|| |
 |
| ਜਨ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ |
| jan niravair nindhak ahankaaree || |
| The Lord's humble servant has no vengeance. The slanderer is egotistical. |
 |
| ਜਨ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ॥ |
| jan bhal maanehi nindhak vaekaaree || |
| The Lord's humble servant wishes well, while the slanderer dwells on evil. |
 |
| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਿਖਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ |
| gur kai sikh sathiguroo dhhiaaeiaa || |
| The Sikh of the Guru meditates on the True Guru. |
 |
| ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਰਕਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥ |
| jan oubarae nindhak narak paaeiaa ||6|| |
| The Lord's humble servants are saved, while the slanderer is cast into hell. ||6|| |

| ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ |
| sun saajan maerae meeth piaarae || |
| Listen, O my beloved friends and companions: |

| ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥ |
| sath bachan varathehi har dhuaarae || |
| these words shall be true in the Court of the Lord. |

| ਜੈਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| jaisaa karae s thaisaa paaeae || |
| As you plant, so shall you harvest. |
 |
| ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਕੀ ਜੜ ਸਰਪਰ ਜਾਏ ॥੭॥ |
| abhimaanee kee jarr sarapar jaaeae ||7|| |
| The proud, egotistical person will surely be uprooted. ||7|| |

| ਨੀਧਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਧਰ ਤੇਰੀ ॥ |

| O True Guru, You are the Support of the unsupported. |

| When you meet a Saint, talk to him and listen. |

| ਮਿਲੈ ਅਸੰਤੁ ਮਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ |

| Meeting with an unsaintly person, just remain silent. ||1|| |

| O father, if I speak, what words should I utter? |

| Speaking with the Saints, one becomes generous. |

| ਮੂਰਖ ਸਿਉ ਬੋਲੇ ਝਖ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| moorakh sio bolae jhakh maaree ||2|| |
| To speak with a fool is to babble uselessly. ||2|| |

| ਬੋਲਤ ਬੋਲਤ ਬਢਹਿ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ॥ |
| bolath bolath badtehi bikaaraa || |
| By speaking and only speaking, corruption only increases. |
 |
| ਬਿਨੁ ਬੋਲੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ |
| bin bolae kiaa karehi beechaaraa ||3|| |
| If I do not speak, what can the poor wretch do? ||3|| |

| ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਛੂਛਾ ਘਟੁ ਬੋਲੈ ॥ |

| Says Kabeer, the empty pitcher makes noise, |

| ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਡੋਲੈ ॥੪॥੧॥ |

| but that which is full makes no sound. ||4||1|| |

| ਨਰੂ ਮਰੈ ਨਰੁ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ |
| naroo marai nar kaam n aavai || |
| When a man dies, he is of no use to anyone. |

| ਪਸੂ ਮਰੈ ਦਸ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ |
| pasoo marai dhas kaaj savaarai ||1|| |
| But when an animal dies, it is used in ten ways. ||1|| |

| ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਮ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮੈ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਉ ॥ |
| apanae karam kee gath mai kiaa jaano || |
| What do I know, about the state of my karma? |

| ਮੈ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਉ ਬਾਬਾ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| ਹਾਡ ਜਲੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਲਕਰੀ ਕਾ ਤੂਲਾ ॥ |
| haadd jalae jaisae lakaree kaa thoolaa || |
| His bones burn, like a bundle of logs; |

| ਕੇਸ ਜਲੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਘਾਸ ਕਾ ਪੂਲਾ ॥੨॥ |
| kaes jalae jaisae ghaas kaa poolaa ||2|| |
| his hair burns like a bale of hay. ||2|| |

| ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਨਰੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥ |
| kahu kabeer thab hee nar jaagai || |
| Says Kabeer, the man wakes up, |

| ਜਮ ਕਾ ਡੰਡੁ ਮੂੰਡ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੩॥੨॥ |
| jam kaa ddandd moondd mehi laagai ||3||2|| |
| only when the Messenger of Death hits him over the head with his club. ||3||2|| |
