| Meditating on Mukanday, one's forehead will bear the Lord's insignia of approval. |

| The renunciate serves Mukanday. |

| Mukanday is the wealth of the poor and forlorn. ||2|| |

| When the One Liberator does me a favor, |

| ਹਮਰਾ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ |

| then what can the world do to me? |

| ਮੇਟੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੂਏ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥ |
| maettee jaath hooeae dharabaar || |
| Erasing my social status, I have entered His Court. |
|
| ਤੁਹੀ ਮੁਕੰਦ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗ ਤਾਰਿ ॥੩॥ |

| You, Mukanday, are potent throughout the four ages. ||3|| |

| ਉਪਜਿਓ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਹੂਆ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥ |

| Spiritual wisdom has welled up, and I have been enlightened. |
|
| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੀਨੇ ਕੀਟ ਦਾਸ ॥ |

| In His Mercy, the Lord has made this worm His slave. |

| ਕਹੁ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਅਬ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਚੂਕੀ ॥ |

| Says Ravi Daas, now my thirst is quenched; |

| Someone may bathe at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage, |
|
| ਜੇ ਓਹੁ ਦੁਆਦਸ ਸਿਲਾ ਪੂਜਾਵੈ ॥ |
| jae ouhu dhuaadhas silaa poojaavai || |
| and worship the twelve Shiva-lingam stones, |
|
| ਜੇ ਓਹੁ ਕੂਪ ਤਟਾ ਦੇਵਾਵੈ ॥ |
| jae ouhu koop thattaa dhaevaavai || |
| and dig wells and pools, |
|
| ਕਰੈ ਨਿੰਦ ਸਭ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
| karai nindh sabh birathhaa jaavai ||1|| |
| but if he indulges in slander, then all of this is useless. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਾਧ ਕਾ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਕੈਸੇ ਤਰੈ ॥ |
| saadhh kaa nindhak kaisae tharai || |
| How can the slanderer of the Holy Saints be saved? |
|
| ਸਰਪਰ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਨਰਕ ਹੀ ਪਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sarapar jaanahu narak hee parai ||1|| rehaao || |
| Know for certain, that he shall go to hell. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜੇ ਓਹੁ ਗ੍ਰਹਨ ਕਰੈ ਕੁਲਖੇਤਿ ॥ |
| jae ouhu grehan karai kulakhaeth || |
| Someone may bathe at Kuruk-shaytra during a solar eclipse, |
|
| ਅਰਪੈ ਨਾਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਸਮੇਤਿ ॥ |
| arapai naar seegaar samaeth || |
| and give his decorated wife in offering, |
|
| ਸਗਲੀ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਨੀ ਸੁਨੈ ॥ |
| sagalee sinmrith sravanee sunai || |
| and listen to all the Simritees, |
|
| ਕਰੈ ਨਿੰਦ ਕਵਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਗੁਨੈ ॥੨॥ |
| karai nindh kavanai nehee gunai ||2|| |
| but if he indulges in slander, these are of no account. ||2|| |
|
| ਜੇ ਓਹੁ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥ |
| jae ouhu anik prasaadh karaavai || |
| Someone may give countless feasts, |
|
| ਭੂਮਿ ਦਾਨ ਸੋਭਾ ਮੰਡਪਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
| bhoom dhaan sobhaa manddap paavai || |
| and donate land, and build splendid buildings; |
|
| ਅਪਨਾ ਬਿਗਾਰਿ ਬਿਰਾਂਨਾ ਸਾਂਢੈ ॥ |
| apanaa bigaar biraannaa saandtai || |
| he may neglect his own affairs to work for others, |
|
| ਕਰੈ ਨਿੰਦ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਹਾਂਢੈ ॥੩॥ |
| karai nindh bahu jonee haandtai ||3|| |
| but if he indulges in slander, he shall wander in countless incarnations. ||3|| |
|
| ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਹਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| nindhaa kehaa karahu sansaaraa || |
| Why do you indulge in slander, O people of the world? |
|
| ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਪਰਗਟਿ ਪਾਹਾਰਾ ॥ |
| nindhak kaa paragatt paahaaraa || |
| The emptiness of the slanderer is soon exposed. |
|
| ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਸੋਧਿ ਸਾਧਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| nindhak sodhh saadhh beechaariaa || |
| I have thought, and determined the fate of the slanderer. |

| Some read the Sanskrit scriptures, and some read the Puraanas. |

| koee naam japai japamaalee laagai thisai dhhiaanaa || |
| Some meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and chant it on their malas, focusing on it in meditation. |

| ਅਬ ਹੀ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ |
| ab hee kab hee kishhoo n jaanaa thaeraa eaeko naam pashhaanaa ||1|| |
| I know nothing, now or ever; I recognize only Your One Name, Lord. ||1|| |

| ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਹਰੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਵਨ ਗਤੇ ॥ |

| I do not know, Lord, what my condition shall be. |

| kabehoo jeearraa oobh charrath hai kabehoo jaae paeiaalae || |
| Sometimes, the soul soars high in the heavens, and sometimes it falls to the depths of the nether regions. |

| ਲੋਭੀ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਤੁ ਹੈ ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਭਾਲੇ ॥੨॥ |
| lobhee jeearraa thhir n rehath hai chaarae kunddaa bhaalae ||2|| |
| The greedy soul does not remain stable; it searches in the four directions. ||2|| |

| ਮਰਣੁ ਲਿਖਾਇ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਆਏ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸਾਜਹਿ ਮਾਈ ॥ |

| With death pre-ordained, the soul comes into the world, gathering the riches of life. |
