ਕੋਈ ਓਢੈ ਨੀਲ ਕੋਈ ਸੁਪੇਦ ॥੩॥ |
koee oudtai neel koee supaedh ||3|| |
Some wear blue robes, and some wear white. ||3|| |

ਕੋਈ ਕਹੈ ਤੁਰਕੁ ਕੋਈ ਕਹੈ ਹਿੰਦੂ ॥ |
koee kehai thurak koee kehai hindhoo || |
Some call themselves Muslim, and some call themselves Hindu. |
|
ਕੋਈ ਬਾਛੈ ਭਿਸਤੁ ਕੋਈ ਸੁਰਗਿੰਦੂ ॥੪॥ |
koee baashhai bhisath koee suragindhoo ||4|| |
Some yearn for paradise, and others long for heaven. ||4|| |

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ |
kahu naanak jin hukam pashhaathaa || |
Says Nanak, one who realizes the Hukam of God's Will, |

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਭੇਦੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੫॥੯॥ |
prabh saahib kaa thin bhaedh jaathaa ||5||9|| |
knows the secrets of his Lord and Master. ||5||9|| |

ਪਵਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਪਵਨੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
pavanai mehi pavan samaaeiaa || |
The wind merges into the wind. |
|
ਜੋਤੀ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਲਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ |
jothee mehi joth ral jaaeiaa || |
The light blends into the light. |
|
ਮਾਟੀ ਮਾਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਏਕ ॥ |
maattee maattee hoee eaek || |
The dust becomes one with the dust. |

ਰੋਵਨਹਾਰੇ ਕੀ ਕਵਨ ਟੇਕ ॥੧॥ |
rovanehaarae kee kavan ttaek ||1|| |
What support is there for the one who is lamenting? ||1|| |

ਕਉਨੁ ਮੂਆ ਰੇ ਕਉਨੁ ਮੂਆ ॥ |

Who has died? O, who has died? |

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ਇਹੁ ਤਉ ਚਲਤੁ ਭਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
breham giaanee mil karahu beechaaraa eihu tho chalath bhaeiaa ||1|| rehaao || |
O God-realized beings, meet together and consider this. What a wondrous thing has happened! ||1||Pause|| |

ਅਗਲੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
agalee kishh khabar n paaee || |
No one knows what happens after death. |
|
ਰੋਵਨਹਾਰੁ ਭਿ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਈ ॥ |
rovanehaar bh ooth sidhhaaee || |
The one who is lamenting will also arise and depart. |
|
ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਕੇ ਬਾਂਧੇ ਬੰਧ ॥ |
bharam moh kae baandhhae bandhh || |
Mortal beings are bound by the bonds of doubt and attachment. |
|
ਸੁਪਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਭਖਲਾਏ ਅੰਧ ॥੨॥ |
supan bhaeiaa bhakhalaaeae andhh ||2|| |
When life becomes a dream, the blind man babbles and grieves in vain. ||2|| |
|
ਇਹੁ ਤਉ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਿਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥ |
eihu tho rachan rachiaa karathaar || |
The Creator Lord created this creation. |
|
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਵਤ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥ |
aavath jaavath hukam apaar || |
It comes and goes, subject to the Will of the Infinite Lord. |
|
ਨਹ ਕੋ ਮੂਆ ਨ ਮਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ |
neh ko mooaa n maranai jog || |
No one dies; no one is capable of dying. |
|
ਨਹ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਹੋਗੁ ॥੩॥ |
neh binasai abinaasee hog ||3|| |
The soul does not perish; it is imperishable. ||3|| |
|
ਜੋ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਸੋ ਇਹੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ |
jo eihu jaanahu so eihu naahi || |
That which is known, does not exist. |
|
ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰੇ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ |
jaananehaarae ko bal jaao || |
I am a sacrifice to the one who knows this. |
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥ |
kahu naanak gur bharam chukaaeiaa || |
Says Nanak, the Guru has dispelled my doubt. |

ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੦॥ |
naa koee marai n aavai jaaeiaa ||4||10|| |
No one dies; no one comes or goes. ||4||10|| |

Meditate on the Lord of the Universe, the Beloved Lord of the World. |

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਤੂ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਖਾਈ ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
raam naam simar thoo jeevehi fir n khaaee mehaa kaal ||1|| rehaao || |
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord's Name, you shall live, and the Great Death shall not consume you ever again. ||1||Pause|| |

ਬਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ |
baddai bhaag saadhhasang paaeiou ||1|| |
By the highest destiny, you found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1|| |
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
bin gur poorae naahee oudhhaar || |
Without the Perfect Guru, no one is saved. |

ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖੈ ਏਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੨॥੧੧॥ |
baabaa naanak aakhai eaehu beechaar ||2||11|| |
This is what Baba Nanak says, after deep reflection. ||2||11|| |

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: |

ਚਾਰਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਹਿ ਨਾ ਤੂ ਮਾਨਹਿ ॥ |
chaar pukaarehi naa thoo maanehi || |
The four Vedas proclaim it, but you don't believe them. |
|
ਖਟੁ ਭੀ ਏਕਾ ਬਾਤ ਵਖਾਨਹਿ ॥ |
khatt bhee eaekaa baath vakhaanehi || |
The six Shaastras also say one thing. |
|
ਦਸ ਅਸਟੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕੋ ਕਹਿਆ ॥ |
dhas asattee mil eaeko kehiaa || |
The eighteen Puraanas all speak of the One God. |
|
ਤਾ ਭੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਲਹਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
thaa bhee jogee bhaedh n lehiaa ||1|| |
Even so, Yogi, you do not understand this mystery. ||1|| |

ਕਿੰਕੁਰੀ ਅਨੂਪ ਵਾਜੈ ॥ |
kinkuree anoop vaajai || |
The celestial harp plays the incomparable melody, |

ਜੋਗੀਆ ਮਤਵਾਰੋ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
jogeeaa mathavaaro rae ||1|| rehaao || |
but in your intoxication, you do not hear it, O Yogi. ||1||Pause|| |

ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਤ ਕਾ ਖੇੜਾ ॥ |
prathhamae vasiaa sath kaa khaerraa || |
In the first age, the Golden Age, the village of truth was inhabited. |
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਏ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਤੇੜਾ ॥ |
thritheeeae mehi kishh bhaeiaa dhuthaerraa || |
In the Silver Age of Traytaa Yuga, things began to decline. |

ਦੁਤੀਆ ਅਰਧੋ ਅਰਧਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
dhutheeaa aradhho aradhh samaaeiaa || |
In the Brass Age of Dwaapur Yuga, half of it was gone. |
|
ਏਕੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ |
eaek rehiaa thaa eaek dhikhaaeiaa ||2|| |
Now, only one leg of Truth remains, and the One Lord is revealed. ||2|| |

ਏਕੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਏ ਮਣੀਏ ॥ |
eaekai sooth paroeae maneeeae || |
The beads are strung upon the one thread. |
|
ਗਾਠੀ ਭਿਨਿ ਭਿਨਿ ਭਿਨਿ ਭਿਨਿ ਤਣੀਏ ॥ |
gaathee bhin bhin bhin bhin thaneeeae || |
By means of many, various, diverse knots, they are tied, and kept separate on the string. |

ਫਿਰਤੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਾਇ ॥ |
firathee maalaa bahu bidhh bhaae || |
The beads of the mala are lovingly chanted upon in many ways. |
|
ਖਿੰਚਿਆ ਸੂਤੁ ਤ ਆਈ ਥਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
khinchiaa sooth th aaee thhaae ||3|| |
When the thread is pulled out, the beads come together in one place. ||3|| |
|
ਚਹੁ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੈ ਮਟੁ ਹੈ ਕੀਆ ॥ |
chahu mehi eaekai matt hai keeaa || |
Throughout the four ages, the One Lord made the body His temple. |
|
ਤਹ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਥਾਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਖਿੜਕੀਆ ॥ |
theh bikharrae thhaan anik khirrakeeaa || |
It is a treacherous place, with several windows. |
|
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਦੁਆਰੇ ਆਇਆ ॥ |
khojath khojath dhuaarae aaeiaa || |
Searching and searching, one comes to the Lord's door. |
|
ਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਗੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥ |
thaa naanak jogee mehal ghar paaeiaa ||4|| |
Then, O Nanak, the Yogi attains a home in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||4|| |
