| The cat sees the meat, but does not eat it, |

| ਮਹਾ ਕਸਾਬਿ ਛੁਰੀ ਸਟਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| mehaa kasaab shhuree satt paaee || |
| and the great butcher throws away his knife; |
|
| ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵੂਠਾ ॥ |
| karanehaar prabh hiradhai voothaa || |
| the Creator Lord God abides in the heart; |
|
| ਫਾਥੀ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਕਾ ਜਾਲਾ ਤੂਟਾ ॥੨॥ |
| faathhee mashhulee kaa jaalaa thoottaa ||2|| |
| the net holding the fish breaks apart. ||2|| |
|
| ਸੂਕੇ ਕਾਸਟ ਹਰੇ ਚਲੂਲ ॥ |
| sookae kaasatt harae chalool || |
| The dry wood blossoms forth in greenery and red flowers; |

| ਊਚੈ ਥਲਿ ਫੂਲੇ ਕਮਲ ਅਨੂਪ ॥ |
| oochai thhal foolae kamal anoop || |
| in the high desert, the beautiful lotus flower blooms. |

| ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ॥ |
| agan nivaaree sathigur dhaev || |
| The Divine True Guru puts out the fire. |
|
| ਸੇਵਕੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਲਾਇਓ ਸੇਵ ॥੩॥ |
| saevak apanee laaeiou saev ||3|| |
| He links His servant to His service. ||3|| |
|
| ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣਾ ਕਾ ਕਰੇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| akirathaghanaa kaa karae oudhhaar || |
| He saves even the ungrateful; |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਰੁ ॥ |
| prabh maeraa hai sadhaa dhaeiaar || |
| my God is forever merciful. |

| ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ॥ |
| santh janaa kaa sadhaa sehaaee || |
| He is forever the helper and support of the humble Saints. |

| ਤੀਨਿ ਆਵਰਤ ਕੀ ਚੂਕੀ ਘੇਰ ॥ |

| The three whirl-pools have stopped spinning. |

| The mountain of sin is burnt down, like straw, |

| by chanting and meditating on the Name, and worshipping God's feet. |

| ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਸਭ ਥਾਨਿ ॥ |

| God, the embodiment of bliss, becomes manifest everywhere. |

| ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੋਰੀ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਨਿ ॥੨॥ |

| Linked to His loving devotional worship, I enjoy peace. ||2|| |

| I have crossed over the world-ocean, as if it were no bigger than a calf's footprint on the ground. |

| ਖੇਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਨਹ ਫੁਨਿ ਰੋਜ ॥ |

| I shall never again have to endure suffering or grief. |

| ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਘਟੁਕੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |

| The ocean is contained in the pitcher. |

| ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਕਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੩॥ |
| karanehaar ko kishh acharaj naahi ||3|| |
| This is not such an amazing thing for the Creator to do. ||3|| |

| ਜਉ ਛੂਟਉ ਤਉ ਜਾਇ ਪਇਆਲ ॥ |
| jo shhootto tho jaae paeiaal || |
| When I am separated from Him, then I am consigned to the nether regions. |

| ਜਉ ਕਾਢਿਓ ਤਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥ |
| jo kaadtiou tho nadhar nihaal || |
| When He lifts me up and pulls me out, then I am enraptured by His Glance of Grace. |

| ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਹਮਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ |

| Vice and virtue are not under my control. |

| Neither your body nor your mind belong to you. |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਧੋਹਿ ॥ |

| Attached to Maya, you are entangled in fraud. |
|
| ਕੁਦਮ ਕਰੈ ਗਾਡਰ ਜਿਉ ਛੇਲ ॥ |

| You play like a baby lamb. |
|
| ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਜਾਲੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਚਕ੍ਰੁ ਪੇਲ ॥੧॥ |

| But suddenly, Death will catch you in its noose. ||1|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਨਾਇ ਮਨਾ ॥ |

| Seek the Sanctuary of the Lord's lotus feet, O my mind. |

| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਧਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| raam naam jap sang sehaaee guramukh paavehi saach dhhanaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| Chant the Name of the Lord, which will be your help and support. As Gurmukh, you shall obtain the true wealth. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਊਨੇ ਕਾਜ ਨ ਹੋਵਤ ਪੂਰੇ ॥ |
| oonae kaaj n hovath poorae || |
| Your unfinished worldly affairs will never be resolved. |

| ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਮਦਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਝੂਰੇ ॥ |
| kaam krodhh madh sadh hee jhoorae || |
| You shall always regret your sexual desire, anger and pride. |
|
| ਕਰੈ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਜੀਅਰੇ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥ |
| karai bikaar jeearae kai thaaee || |
| You act in corruption in order to survive, |
|
| ਗਾਫਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਤਸੂਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| gaafal sang n thasooaa jaaee ||2|| |
| but not even an iota will go along with you, you ignorant fool! ||2|| |
|
| ਧਰਤ ਧੋਹ ਅਨਿਕ ਛਲ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ |
| dhharath dhhoh anik shhal jaanai || |
| You practice deception, and you know many tricks; |
|
| ਕਉਡੀ ਕਉਡੀ ਕਉ ਖਾਕੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਾਨੈ ॥ |
| kouddee kouddee ko khaak sir shhaanai || |
| for the sake of mere shells, you throw dust upon your head. |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਤਿਸੈ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਮੂਲਿ ॥ |
| jin dheeaa thisai n chaethai mool || |
| You never even think of the One who gave you life. |
|
| ਮਿਥਿਆ ਲੋਭੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸੂਲੁ ॥੩॥ |
| mithhiaa lobh n outharai sool ||3|| |
| The pain of false greed never leaves you. ||3|| |
|
| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| paarabreham jab bheae dhaeiaal || |
| When the Supreme Lord God becomes merciful, |
|
| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲ ॥ |
| eihu man hoaa saadhh ravaal || |
| this mind becomes the dust of the feet of the Holy. |

| ਹਸਤ ਕਮਲ ਲੜਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਲਾਇ ॥ |

| With His lotus hands, He has attached us to the hem of His robe. |
