| ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥ |
| raajaa raam kee saranaae || |
| I seek the Sanctuary of the Sovereign Lord. |
|
| ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| nirabho bheae gobindh gun gaavath saadhhasang dhukh jaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| I have become fearless, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, my pains have been taken away. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ |
| jaa kai raam basai man maahee || |
| That person, within whose mind the Lord abides, |
|
| ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| so jan dhuthar paekhath naahee || |
| does not see the impassible world-ocean. |
|
| ਸਗਲੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਅਪਨੇ ॥ |
| sagalae kaaj savaarae apanae || |
| All one's affairs are resolved, |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨ ਨਿਤ ਜਪਨੇ ॥੧॥ |
| har har naam rasan nith japanae ||1|| |
| by chanting continually the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਧਰੈ ॥ਸੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਅਦੇਸਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਰੈ ॥ |
| jis kai masathak haathh gur dhharai || so dhaas adhaesaa kaahae karai || |
| Why should His slave feel any anxiety? The Guru places His hand upon my forehead. |

| ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੀ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ॥ |
| janam maran kee chookee kaan || |
| The fear of birth and death is dispelled; |
|
| ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਕੁਰਬਾਣ ॥੨॥ |
| poorai gur oopar kurabaan ||2|| |
| I am a sacrifice to the Perfect Guru. ||2|| |

| ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥ |
| gur paramaesar bhaett nihaal || |
| I am enraptured, meeting with the Guru, the Transcendent Lord. |
|
| ਸੋ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ॥ |
| so dharasan paaeae jis hoe dhaeiaal || |
| He alone obtains the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, who is blessed by His Mercy. |

| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥ |
| paarabreham jis kirapaa karai || |
| One who is blessed by the Grace of the Supreme Lord God, |
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸੋ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥੩॥ |
| saadhhasang so bhavajal tharai ||3|| |
| crosses over the terrifying world-ocean in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||3|| |

| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਸਾਧ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ |
| anmrith peevahu saadhh piaarae || |
| Drink in the Ambrosial Nectar, O Beloved Holy people. |
|
| ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਸਾਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥ |
| mukh oojal saachai dharabaarae || |
| Your face shall be radiant and bright in the Court of the Lord. |
|
| ਅਨਦ ਕਰਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥ |
| anadh karahu thaj sagal bikaar || |
| Celebrate and be blissful, and abandon all corruption. |

| ੲੰੀਧਨ ਤੇ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਭਾਗੈ ॥ |
| eaneedhhan thae baisanthar bhaagai || |
| The fire runs away from the fuel. |
|
| ਮਾਟੀ ਕਉ ਜਲੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਤਿਆਗੈ ॥ |
| maattee ko jal dheh dhis thiaagai || |
| The water runs away from the dust in all directions. |
|
| ਊਪਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਤਲੈ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥ |
| oopar charan thalai aakaas || |
| The feet are above, and the sky is beneath. |
|
| ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਕੀਓ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥ |
| ghatt mehi sindhh keeou paragaas ||1|| |
| The ocean appears in the cup. ||1|| |
|
| ਐਸਾ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ॥ |
| aisaa sanmrathh har jeeo aap || |
| Such is our all-powerful dear Lord. |
|
| ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜੀਅ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੈ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮਨ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| nimakh n bisarai jeea bhagathan kai aath pehar man thaa ko jaap ||1|| rehaao || |
| His devotees do not forget Him, even for an instant. Twenty-four hours a day, O mind, meditate on Him. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਮਾਖਨੁ ਪਾਛੈ ਦੂਧੁ ॥ |
| prathhamae maakhan paashhai dhoodhh || |
| First comes the butter, and then the milk. |
|
| ਮੈਲੂ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਾਬੁਨੁ ਸੂਧੁ ॥ |
| mailoo keeno saabun soodhh || |
| The dirt cleans the soap. |
|
| ਭੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਡਰਤਾ ਫਿਰੈ ॥ |
| bhai thae nirabho ddarathaa firai || |
| The fearless are afraid of fear. |
|
| ਹੋਂਦੀ ਕਉ ਅਣਹੋਂਦੀ ਹਿਰੈ ॥੨॥ |
| honadhee ko anehonadhee hirai ||2|| |
| The living are killed by the dead. ||2|| |
|
| ਦੇਹੀ ਗੁਪਤ ਬਿਦੇਹੀ ਦੀਸੈ ॥ |
| dhaehee gupath bidhaehee dheesai || |
| The visible body is hidden, and the etheric body is seen. |
|
| ਸਗਲੇ ਸਾਜਿ ਕਰਤ ਜਗਦੀਸੈ ॥ |
| sagalae saaj karath jagadheesai || |
| The Lord of the world does all these things. |
|
| ਠਗਣਹਾਰ ਅਣਠਗਦਾ ਠਾਗੈ ॥ |
| thaganehaar anathagadhaa thaagai || |
| The one who is cheated, is not cheated by the cheat. |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਵਖਰ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਉਠਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੩॥ |
| bin vakhar fir fir outh laagai ||3|| |
| With no merchandise, the trader trades again and again. ||3|| |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਖਿਆਣ ॥ |
| santh sabhaa mil karahu bakhiaan || |
| So join the Society of the Saints, and chant the Lord's Name. |
|
| ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ॥ |
| sinmrith saasath baedh puraan || |
| So say the Simritees, Shaastras, Vedas and Puraanas. |
|
| ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| breham beechaar beechaarae koe || |
| Rare are those who contemplate and meditate on God. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੪੩॥੫੪॥ |

| O Nanak, they attain the supreme status. ||4||43||54|| |

| Whatever pleases Him happens. |

| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਆਨ ਬੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa har kee saranaaee prabh bin naahee aan beeaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| Forever and ever, I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord.There is none other than God. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਪੁਤੁ ਕਲਤ੍ਰੁ ਲਖਿਮੀ ਦੀਸੈ ਇਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੀਆ ॥ |
| puth kalathra lakhimee dheesai ein mehi kishhoo n sang leeaa || |
| You look upon your children, spouse and wealth; none of these will go along with you. |

| ਬਿਖੈ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਖਾਇ ਭੁਲਾਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਗਇਆ ॥੧॥ |
| bikhai thagouree khaae bhulaanaa maaeiaa mandhar thiaag gaeiaa ||1|| |
| Eating the poisonous potion, you have gone astray. You will have to go, and leave Maya and your mansions. ||1|| |
|
| ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਵਿਗੂਤਾ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਪਇਆ ॥ |
| nindhaa kar kar bahuth vigoothaa garabh jon mehi kirath paeiaa || |
| Slandering others, you are totally ruined; because of your past actions, you shall be consigned to the womb of reincarnation. |

| ਪੁਰਬ ਕਮਾਣੇ ਛੋਡਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮਦੂਤਿ ਗ੍ਰਾਸਿਓ ਮਹਾ ਭਇਆ ॥੨॥ |
| purab kamaanae shhoddehi naahee jamadhooth graasiou mehaa bhaeiaa ||2|| |
| Your past actions will not just go away; the most horrible Messenger of Death shall seize you. ||2|| |
|
| ਬੋਲੈ ਝੂਠੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਅਵਰਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਹਇਆ ॥ |
| bolai jhooth kamaavai avaraa thrisan n boojhai bahuth haeiaa || |
| You tell lies, and do not practice what you preach. Your desires are not satisfied - what a shame. |
|
| ਅਸਾਧ ਰੋਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਸੰਤ ਦੂਖਨਿ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਮਹਾ ਖਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| asaadhh rog oupajiaa santh dhookhan dhaeh binaasee mehaa khaeiaa ||3|| |
| You have contracted an incurable disease; slandering the Saints, your body is wasting away; you are utterly ruined. ||3|| |
|
| ਜਿਨਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਸਾਜੇ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਨੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਇਆ ॥ |
| jinehi nivaajae thin hee saajae aapae keenae santh jaeiaa || |
| He embellishes those whom He has fashioned. He Himself gave life to the Saints. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਇਆ ॥੪॥੪੪॥੫੫॥ |
| naanak dhaas kanth laae raakhae kar kirapaa paarabreham maeiaa ||4||44||55|| |
| O Nanak, He hugs His slaves close in His Embrace. Please grant Your Grace, O Supreme Lord God, and be kind to me as well. ||4||44||55|| |
