| ਅਭਿਆਗਤ ਏਹਿ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਨਿ ਜਿ ਪਰ ਘਰਿ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥ |
| abhiaagath eaehi n aakheean j par ghar bhojan karaen || |
| They are not called renunciates, who take food in the homes of others. |

| ਉਦਰੈ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਹਲੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥ |
| oudharai kaaran aapanae behalae bhaekh karaen || |
| For the sake of their bellies, they wear various religious robes. |
|
| ਅਭਿਆਗਤ ਸੇਈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿ ਆਤਮ ਗਉਣੁ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥ |
| abhiaagath saeee naanakaa j aatham goun karaen || |
| They alone are renunciates, O Nanak, who enter into their own souls. |

| ਭਾਲਿ ਲਹਨਿ ਸਹੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਰਹਣੁ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥੨॥ |
| bhaal lehan sahu aapanaa nij ghar rehan karaen ||2|| |
| They seek and find their Husband Lord; they dwell within the home of their own inner self. ||2|| |

| anbar dhharath vishhorrian vich sachaa asaraao || |
| They sky and the earth are separate, but the True Lord supports them from within. |

| ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਸਭੋ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| ghar dhar sabho sach hai jis vich sachaa naao || |
| True are all those homes and gates, within which the True Name is enshrined. |

| ਸਭੁ ਸਚਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥ |
| sabh sachaa hukam varathadhaa guramukh sach samaao || |
| The Hukam of the True Lord's Command is effective everywhere. The Gurmukh merges in the True Lord. |

| ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਤਖਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਬਹਿ ਸਚਾ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਆਉ ॥ |
| sachaa aap thakhath sachaa behi sachaa karae niaao || |
| He Himself is True, and True is His throne. Seated upon it, He administers true justice. |

| ਸਭੁ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਈ ॥੬॥ |
| sabh sacho sach varathadhaa guramukh alakh lakhaaee ||6|| |
| The Truest of the True is all-pervading everywhere; the Gurmukh sees the unseen. ||6|| |

| ਰੈਣਾਇਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਨੰਤੁ ਹੈ ਕੂੜੀ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| rainaaeir maahi ananth hai koorree aavai jaae || |
| In the world-ocean, the Infinite Lord abides. The false come and go in reincarnation. |

| ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੈ ਆਪਣੈ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਲਹੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥ |
| bhaanai chalai aapanai bahuthee lehai sajaae || |
| One who walks according to his own will, suffers terrible punishment. |
|
| ਰੈਣਾਇਰ ਮਹਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| rainaaeir mehi sabh kishh hai karamee palai paae || |
| All things are in the world-ocean, but they are obtained only by the karma of good actions. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਚਲੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak no nidhh paaeeai jae chalai thisai rajaae ||1|| |
| O Nanak, he alone obtains the nine treasures, who walks in the Will of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਸਹਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਨਮਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥ |
| sehajae sathigur n saeviou vich houmai janam binaas || |
| One who intuitively serves the True Guru, loses his life in egotism. |
|
| ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਚਖਿਓ ਕਮਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਇਓ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ |
| rasanaa har ras n chakhiou kamal n hoeiou paragaas || |
| His tongue does not taste the sublime essence of the Lord, and his heart-lotus does not blossom forth. |

| ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਧੀ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਮੁਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਣਾਸੁ ॥ |
| bikh khaadhhee manamukh muaa maaeiaa mohi vinaas || |
| The self-willed manmukh eats poison and dies; he is ruined by love and attachment to Maya. |
|
| ਇਕਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਣੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਵਾਸੁ ॥ |
| eikas har kae naam vin dhhrig jeevan dhhrig vaas || |
| Without the Name of the One Lord, his life is cursed, and his home is cursed as well. |

| ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਚਾ ਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ॥ |
| jaa aapae nadhar karae prabh sachaa thaa hovai dhaasan dhaas || |
| When God Himself bestows His Glance of Grace, then one becomes the slave of His slaves. |
|
| ਤਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਛੋਡੈ ਪਾਸੁ ॥ |
| thaa anadhin saevaa karae sathiguroo kee kabehi n shhoddai paas || |
| And then, night and day, he serves the True Guru, and never leaves His side. |

| ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਅਲਿਪਤੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਤਿਉ ਵਿਚੇ ਗਿਰਹ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥ |
| jio jal mehi kamal alipatho varathai thio vichae gireh oudhaas || |
| As the lotus flower floats unaffected in the water, so does he remain detached in his own household. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥੨॥ |
| jan naanak karae karaaeiaa sabh ko jio bhaavai thiv har gunathaas ||2|| |
| O servant Nanak, the Lord acts, and inspires everyone to act, according to the Pleasure of His Will. He is the treasure of virtue. ||2|| |

| shhatheeh jug gubaar saa aapae ganath keenee || |
| For thirty-six ages, there was utter darkness. Then, the Lord revealed Himself. |

| ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਮਤਿ ਦੀਨੀ ॥ |
| aapae srisatt sabh saajeean aap math dheenee || |
| He Himself created the entire universe. He Himself blessed it with understanding. |

| ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਸਾਜਿਅਨੁ ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਗਣਤ ਗਣੀਨੀ ॥ |
| simrith saasath saajian paap punn ganath ganeenee || |
| He created the Simritees and the Shaastras; He calculates the accounts of virtue and vice. |

| ਜਿਸੁ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸੋ ਬੁਝਸੀ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਤੀਨੀ ॥ |
| jis bujhaaeae so bujhasee sachai sabadh patheenee || |
| He alone understands, whom the Lord inspires to understand and to be pleased with the True Word of the Shabad. |
|
| ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੭॥ |
| sabh aapae aap varathadhaa aapae bakhas milaaee ||7|| |
| He Himself is all-pervading; He Himself forgives, and unites with Himself. ||7|| |

| ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਭੋ ਰਤੁ ਹੈ ਰਤੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਤੰਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| eihu than sabho rath hai rath bin thann n hoe || |
| This body is all blood; without blood, the body cannot exist. |
|
| ਜੋ ਸਹਿ ਰਤੇ ਆਪਣੈ ਤਿਨ ਤਨਿ ਲੋਭ ਰਤੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| jo sehi rathae aapanai thin than lobh rath n hoe || |
| Those who are attuned to their Lord - their bodies are not filled with the blood of greed. |

| ਜਿਉ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਧਾਤੁ ਸੁਧੁ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ |
| jio baisanthar dhhaath sudhh hoe thio har kaa bho dhuramath mail gavaae || |
| As fire purifies metal, so does the Fear of the Lord eradicate the filth of evil-mindedness. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak thae jan sohanae jo rathae har rang laae ||1|| |
| O Nanak, beautiful are those humble beings, who are imbued with the Lord's Love. ||1|| |

| ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਤਾ ਬਨਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ |
| raamakalee raam man vasiaa thaa baniaa seegaar || |
| In Raamkalee, I have enshrined the Lord in my mind; thus I have been embellished. |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸਿਆ ਤਾ ਸਉਪਿਆ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥ |
| gur kai sabadh kamal bigasiaa thaa soupiaa bhagath bhanddaar || |
| Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, my heart-lotus has blossomed forth; the Lord blessed me with the treasure of devotional worship. |

| ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਤਾ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਚੂਕਾ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| bharam gaeiaa thaa jaagiaa chookaa agiaan andhhaar || |
| My doubt was dispelled, and I woke up; the darkness of ignorance was dispelled. |

| ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਲਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ |
| this no roop ath agalaa jis har naal piaar || |
| She who is in love with her Lord, is the most infinitely beautiful. |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਰਵੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ |
| sadhaa ravai pir aapanaa sobhaavanthee naar || |
| Such a beautiful, happy soul-bride enjoys her Husband Lord forever. |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਜਾਸਨਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਾਰਿ ॥ |
| manamukh seegaar n jaananee jaasan janam sabh haar || |
| The self-willed manmukhs do not know how to decorate themselves; wasting their whole lives, they depart. |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ |
| bin har bhagathee seegaar karehi nith janmehi hoe khuaar || |
| Those who decorate themselves without devotional worship to the Lord, are continually reincarnated to suffer. |
|
| ਸੈਸਾਰੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੋਭ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਅਗੈ ਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥ |
| saisaarai vich sobh n paaeinee agai j karae s jaanai karathaar || |
| They do not obtain respect in this world; the Creator Lord alone knows what will happen to them in the world hereafter. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਹੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ |
| naanak sachaa eaek hai dhuhu vich hai sansaar || |
| O Nanak, the True Lord is the One and only; duality exists only in the world. |
|
| ਚੰਗੈ ਮੰਦੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਸੋ ਕਰਨਿ ਜਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ |
| changai mandhai aap laaeian so karan j aap karaaeae karathaar ||2|| |
| He Himself enjoins them to good and bad; they do only that which the Creator Lord causes them to do. ||2|| |

| Without serving the True Guru, tranquility is not obtained. It cannot be found anywhere else. |
