| ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੀਮ ਕੇਵਡੁ ਮਟਿਆ ॥ |

| No one knows His worth, or the greatness of His resting place. |

| ਸੁਣਿ ਸਜਣ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਿਖਾਲਿ ॥ |
| sun sajan preetham maeriaa mai sathigur dhaehu dhikhaal || |
| Listen, O my beloved friend: please show me the True Guru. |

| ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਮਨੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਤ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਖਾ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ |
| ho this dhaevaa man aapanaa nith hiradhai rakhaa samaal || |
| I dedicate my mind to Him; I keep Him continually enshrined within my heart. |
|
| ਇਕਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥ |
| eikas sathigur baaharaa dhhrig jeevan sansaar || |
| Without the One and Only True Guru, life in this world is cursed. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਮਿਲਾਇਓਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਵਰਤੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ |

| maerai anthar lochaa milan kee kio paavaa prabh thohi || |
| Deep within me is the longing to meet You; how can I find You, God? |
|
| ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਸਜਣੁ ਲੋੜਿ ਲਹੁ ਜੋ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮੋਹਿ ॥ |
| koee aisaa sajan lorr lahu jo maelae preetham mohi || |
| I will search for someone, some friend, who will unite me with my Beloved. |
|
| ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ਜਤ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਤ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| gur poorai maelaaeiaa jath dhaekhaa thath soe || |
| The Perfect Guru has united me with Him; wherever I look, there He is. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥ |

| Servant Nanak serves that God; there is no other as great as He is. ||2|| |

| ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ॥ |
| dhaevanehaar dhaathaar kith mukh saalaaheeai || |
| He is the Great Giver, the Generous Lord; with what mouth can I praise Him? |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਰਖੈ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਮਾਹੀਐ ॥ |
| jis rakhai kirapaa dhhaar rijak samaaheeai || |
| In His Mercy, He protects, preserves and sustains us. |
|
| ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਵਸਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਇਕ ਧਰ ॥ |
| koe n kis hee vas sabhanaa eik dhhar || |
| No one is under anyone else's control; He is the One Support of all. |
|
| ਪਾਲੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਵਾਗਿ ਦੇ ਕੈ ਆਪਿ ਕਰ ॥ |
| paalae baalak vaag dhae kai aap kar || |
| He cherishes all as His children, and reaches out with His hand. |
|
| ਕਰਦਾ ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥ |
| karadhaa anadh binodh kishhoo n jaaneeai || |
| He stages His joyous plays, which no one understands at all. |
|
| ਸਰਬ ਧਾਰ ਸਮਰਥ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀਐ ॥ |
| sarab dhhaar samarathh ho this kurabaaneeai || |
| The all-powerful Lord gives His Support to all; I am a sacrifice to Him. |
|
| ਗਾਈਐ ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਨੰਤੁ ਗਾਵਣ ਜੋਗਿਆ ॥ |
| gaaeeai raath dhinanth gaavan jogiaa || |
| Night and day, sing the Praises of the One who is worthy of being praised. |

| ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਹਿ ਤਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਭੋਗਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
| jo gur kee pairee paahi thinee har ras bhogiaa ||2|| |
| Those who fall at the Guru's Feet, enjoy the sublime essence of the Lord. ||2|| |

| ਭੀੜਹੁ ਮੋਕਲਾਈ ਕੀਤੀਅਨੁ ਸਭ ਰਖੇ ਕੁਟੰਬੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ |
| bheerrahu mokalaaee keetheean sabh rakhae kuttanbai naal || |
| He has widened the narrow path for me, and preserved my integrity, along with that of my family. |
|
| ਕਾਰਜ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਸਭਾਲਿ ॥ |
| kaaraj aap savaarian so prabh sadhaa sabhaal || |
| He Himself has arranged and resolved my affairs. I dwell upon that God forever. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇਦਾ ਲਹੁੜੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਾਲਿ ॥ |

| God is my mother and father; He hugs me close in His embrace, and cherishes me, like His tiny baby. |

| ਵਿਣੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਜਿ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੁਖਾ ਕੈ ਦੁਖ ॥ |
| vin thudhh hor j manganaa sir dhukhaa kai dhukh || |
| To ask for any other than You, Lord, is the most miserable of miseries. |
|
| ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਉਤਰੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਭੁਖ ॥ |
| dhaehi naam santhokheeaa outharai man kee bhukh || |
| Please bless me with Your Name, and make me content; may the hunger of my mind be satisfied. |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਵਣੁ ਤਿਣੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਕੀਤਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਮਨੁਖ ॥੨॥ |
| gur van thin hariaa keethiaa naanak kiaa manukh ||2|| |
| The Guru has made the woods and meadows green again. O Nanak, is it any wonder that He blesses human beings as well? ||2|| |

| ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ॥ |

| Such is that Great Giver; may I never forget Him from my mind. |

| ਘੜੀ ਨ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਚਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾ ਸਰੈ ॥ |
| gharree n muhath chasaa this bin naa sarai || |
| I cannot survive without Him, for an instant, for a moment, for a second. |
|
| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਲੁਕਿ ਕਰੈ ॥ |
| anthar baahar sang kiaa ko luk karai || |
| Inwardly and outwardly, He is with us; how can we hide anything from Him? |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਪਤਿ ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਸੋ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥ |
| jis path rakhai aap so bhavajal tharai || |
| One whose honor He Himself has preserved, crosses over the terrifying world-ocean. |

| ਭਗਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਤਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥ |
| bhagath giaanee thapaa jis kirapaa karai || |
| He alone is a devotee, a spiritual teacher, and a disciplined pratictioner of meditation, whom the Lord has so blessed. |
|
| ਸੋ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਲੁ ਧਰੈ ॥ |
| so pooraa paradhhaan jis no bal dhharai || |
| He alone is perfect and renowned as supreme, whom the Lord has blessed with His power. |
|
| ਜਿਸਹਿ ਜਰਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਸੋਈ ਅਜਰੁ ਜਰੈ ॥ |
| jisehi jaraaeae aap soee ajar jarai || |
| He alone endures the unendurable, whom the Lord inspires to endure it. |
|
| ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਨਿ ਧਰੈ ॥੩॥ |
| this hee miliaa sach manthra gur man dhharai ||3|| |
| And he alone meets the True Lord, within whose mind the Guru's Mantra is implanted. ||3|| |

| ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਰਾਗ ਸੁਰੰਗੜੇ ਆਲਾਪਤ ਸਭ ਤਿਖ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| dhhann s raag surangarrae aalaapath sabh thikh jaae || |
| Blessed are those beautiful Ragas which, when chanted, quench all thirst. |
|
| ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਜੰਤ ਸੁਹਾਵੜੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਪਦੇ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| dhhann s janth suhaavarrae jo guramukh japadhae naao || |
| Blessed are those beautiful people who, as Gurmukh, chant the Name of the Lord. |
|
| ਜਿਨੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥ |
| jinee eik man eik araadhhiaa thin sadh balihaarai jaao || |
| I am a sacrifice to those who single-mindedly worship and adore the One Lord. |
|
| ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਧੂੜਿ ਹਮ ਬਾਛਦੇ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| thin kee dhhoorr ham baashhadhae karamee palai paae || |
| I yearn for the dust of their feet; by His Grace, it is obtained. |
|
| ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥ |
| jo rathae rang govidh kai ho thin balihaarai jaao || |
| I am a sacrifice to those who are imbued with love for the Lord of the Universe. |
|
| ਆਖਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਰਾਇ ॥ |
| aakhaa birathhaa jeea kee har sajan maelahu raae || |
| I tell them the state of my soul, and pray that I may be united with the Sovereign Lord King, my Friend. |
|
| ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| gur poorai maelaaeiaa janam maran dhukh jaae || |
| The Perfect Guru has united me with Him, and the pains of birth and death have departed. |
|
| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਗਮ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| jan naanak paaeiaa agam roop anath n kaahoo jaae ||1|| |
| Servant Nanak has found the inaccessible, infinitely beautiful Lord, and he will not go anywhere else. ||1|| |

| dhhann s vaelaa gharree dhhann dhhan moorath pal saar || |
| Blessed is that time, blessed is that hour, blessed is that second, excellent is that instant; |

| ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸੰਜੋਗੜਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਡਿਠਾ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਾਰੁ ॥ |
| dhhann s dhinas sanjogarraa jith ddithaa gur dharasaar || |
| blessed is that day,and that opportunity, when I gazed upon the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. |
