| man keeaa eishhaa pooreeaa har paaeiaa agam apaar || |
| The mind's desires are fulfilled, when the inaccessible, unfathomable Lord is obtained. |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਤੁਟਾ ਮੋਹੜਾ ਇਕੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| houmai thuttaa moharraa eik sach naam aadhhaar || |
| Egotism and emotional attachment are eradicated, and one leans only on the Support of the True Name. |

| ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਲਗਾ ਸੇਵ ਹਰਿ ਉਧਰਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ |

| O servant Nanak, one who is committed to the Lord's service - the whole world is saved along with him. ||2|| |

| How rare are those who are blessed to praise the Lord, in devotional worship. |

| ਸਉਪੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਫਿਰਿ ਪੁਛ ਨ ਲੀਤੀਅਨੁ ॥ |
| soupae jis bhanddaar fir pushh n leetheean || |
| Those who are blessed with the Lord's treasures are not called to give their account again. |

| ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਗਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਸੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥ |
| jis no lagaa rang sae rang rathiaa || |
| Those who are imbued with His Love are absorbed in ecstasy. |
|
| ਓਨਾ ਇਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਇਕਾ ਉਨ ਭਤਿਆ ॥ |
| ounaa eiko naam adhhaar eikaa oun bhathiaa || |
| They take the Support of the One Name; the One Name is their only food. |

| ਓਨਾ ਪਿਛੈ ਜਗੁ ਭੁੰਚੈ ਭੋਗਈ ॥ |
| ounaa pishhai jag bhunchai bhogee || |
| For their sake, the world eats and enjoys. |
|
| ਓਨਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਬੁ ਓਨਾਹਾ ਜੋਗਈ ॥ |
| ounaa piaaraa rab ounaahaa jogee || |
| Their Beloved Lord belongs to them alone. |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥ |
| jis miliaa gur aae thin prabh jaaniaa || |
| The Guru comes and meets them; they alone know God. |
|
| ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਜਿ ਖਸਮੈ ਭਾਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ |
| ho balihaaree thin j khasamai bhaaniaa ||4|| |
| I am a sacrifice to those who are pleasing to their Lord and Master. ||4|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਇਕਸੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੈ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਇਕਸੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੈ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ |
| har eikasai naal mai dhosathee har eikasai naal mai rang || |
| My friendship is with the One Lord alone; I am in love with the One Lord alone. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਜਣੋ ਹਰਿ ਇਕਸੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੈ ਸੰਗੁ ॥ |
| har eiko maeraa sajano har eikasai naal mai sang || |
| The Lord is my only friend; my companionship is with the One Lord alone. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਇਕਸੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੈ ਗੋਸਟੇ ਮੁਹੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਭੰਗੁ ॥ |
| har eikasai naal mai gosattae muhu mailaa karai n bhang || |
| My conversation is with the One Lord alone; He never frowns, or turns His face away. |

| ਜਾਣੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਮੋੜੈ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ |
| jaanai birathhaa jeea kee kadhae n morrai rang || |
| He alone knows the state of my soul; He never ignores my love. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਸਲਤੀ ਭੰਨਣ ਘੜਨ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥ |
| har eiko maeraa masalathee bhannan gharran samarathh || |
| He is my only counselor, all-powerful to destroy and create. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਦਾਤਿਆ ਜਗ ਹਥੁ ॥ |
| har eiko maeraa dhaathaar hai sir dhaathiaa jag hathh || |
| The Lord is my only Giver. He places His hand upon the heads of the generous in the world. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਇਕਸੈ ਦੀ ਮੈ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥ |
| har eikasai dhee mai ttaek hai jo sir sabhanaa samarathh || |
| I take the Support of the One Lord alone; He is all-powerful, over the heads of all. |

| ਵਡਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਜਗਤੁ ॥ |
| vaddaa saahib guroo milaaeiaa jin thaariaa sagal jagath || |
| The Guru led me to meet the greatest Lord and Master; He saved the whole world. |
|
| ਮਨ ਕੀਆ ਇਛਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥ |
| man keeaa eishhaa pooreeaa paaeiaa dhhur sanjog || |
| The desires of the mind are fulfilled; I have attained my pre-destined Union with God. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਭੋਗੇ ਭੋਗ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak paaeiaa sach naam sadh hee bhogae bhog ||1|| |
| Nanak has obtained the True Name; He enjoys the enjoyments forever. ||1|| |

| ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਕੇਰੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਸਨਬੰਧੁ ॥ |
| manamukhaa kaeree dhosathee maaeiaa kaa sanabandhh || |
| Friendship with the self-willed manmukhs is an alliance with Maya. |
|
| ਵੇਖਦਿਆ ਹੀ ਭਜਿ ਜਾਨਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਬੰਧੁ ॥ |
| vaekhadhiaa hee bhaj jaan kadhae n paaein bandhh || |
| As we watch, they run away; they never stand firm. |
|
| ਜਿਚਰੁ ਪੈਨਨਿ ਖਾਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਰਖਨਿ ਗੰਢੁ ॥ |
| jichar painan khaavanhae thichar rakhan gandt || |
| As long as they get food and clothing, they stick around. |
|
| ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਬੋਲਨਿ ਗੰਧੁ ॥ |
| jith dhin kishh n hovee thith dhin bolan gandhh || |
| But on that day when they receive nothing, then they start to curse. |
|
| ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁ ॥ |
| jeea kee saar n jaananee manamukh agiaanee andhh || |
| The self-willed manmukhs are ignorant and blind; they do not know the secrets of the soul. |
|
| ਕੂੜਾ ਗੰਢੁ ਨ ਚਲਈ ਚਿਕੜਿ ਪਥਰ ਬੰਧੁ ॥ |
| koorraa gandt n chalee chikarr pathhar bandhh || |
| The false bond does not last; it is like stones joined with mud. |
|
| ਅੰਧੇ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਫਕੜੁ ਪਿਟਨਿ ਧੰਧੁ ॥ |
| andhhae aap n jaananee fakarr pittan dhhandhh || |
| The blind do not understand themselves; they are engrossed in false worldly entanglements. |
|
| ਝੂਠੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਇਆ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਹੰਧੁ ॥ |
| jhoothai mohi lapattaaeiaa ho ho karath bihandhh || |
| Entangled in false attachments, they pass their lives in egotism and self-conceit. |
|
| ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੁਰਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ |
| kirapaa karae jis aapanee dhhur pooraa karam karaee || |
| But that being, whom the Lord has blessed with His Mercy from the very beginning, does perfect deeds, and accumulates good karma. |
|
| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ॥੨॥ |
| jan naanak sae jan oubarae jo sathigur saran parae ||2|| |
| O servant Nanak, those humble beings alone are saved, who enter the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||2|| |

| ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਸੇਈ ਸਚੁ ਹਾਕੁ ॥ |

| Those who are imbued with the Lord's Vision, speak the Truth. |
|
| ਜਿਨੀ ਜਾਤਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਕਿਉ ਲਭੈ ਤਿਨਾ ਖਾਕੁ ॥ |
| jinee jaathaa khasam kio labhai thinaa khaak || |
| How can I obtain the dust of those who realize their Lord and Master? |
|
| ਮਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਵੇਕਾਰੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਕੁ ॥ |
| man mailaa vaekaar hovai sang paak || |
| The mind, stained by corruption, becomes pure by associating with them. |
|
| ਦਿਸੈ ਸਚਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਭਰਮ ਤਾਕੁ ॥ |
| dhisai sachaa mehal khulai bharam thaak || |
| One sees the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, when the door of doubt is opened. |
|
| ਜਿਸਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਲੇ ਮਹਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਧਾਕੁ ॥ |
| jisehi dhikhaalae mehal this n milai dhhaak || |
| That one, unto whom the Mansion of the Lord's Presence is revealed, is never pushed or shoved. |
|
| ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਬਿੰਦਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਝਾਕੁ ॥ |
| man than hoe nihaal bindhak nadhar jhaak || |
| My mind and body are enraptured, when the Lord blesses me, even for an instant, with His Glance of Grace. |
|
| ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥ |
| no nidhh naam nidhhaan gur kai sabadh laag || |
| The nine treasures, and the treasure of the Naam are obtained by commitment to the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਤਿਸੈ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੰਤ ਖਾਕੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਜਿਸੈ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੫॥ |
| thisai milai santh khaak masathak jisai bhaag ||5|| |
| He alone is blessed with the dust of the feet of the Saints, upon whose forehead such pre-ordained desiny is inscribed. ||5|| |

| ਹਰਣਾਖੀ ਕੂ ਸਚੁ ਵੈਣੁ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਜੋ ਤਉ ਕਰੇ ਉਧਾਰਣੁ ॥ |
| haranaakhee koo sach vain sunaaee jo tho karae oudhhaaran || |
| O deer-eyed bride, I speak the Truth, which shall save you. |

| ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਚਨ ਤੁਮ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਛਬੀਲੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਤੈਡਾ ਮਨ ਸਾਧਾਰਣੁ ॥ |
| sundhar bachan thum sunahu shhabeelee pir thaiddaa man saadhhaaran || |
| Listen to these beautiful words, O beauteous bride; your Beloved Lord is your mind's only support. |

| ਦੁਰਜਨ ਸੇਤੀ ਨੇਹੁ ਰਚਾਇਓ ਦਸਿ ਵਿਖਾ ਮੈ ਕਾਰਣੁ ॥ |
| dhurajan saethee naehu rachaaeiou dhas vikhaa mai kaaran || |
| You have fallen in love with an evil person; tell me - show me why! |
|
| ਊਣੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਝੂਣੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਵਿਹੂਣੀ ॥ |
| oonee naahee jhoonee naahee naahee kisai vihoonee || |
| I lack nothing, and I am not sad or depressed; I have no deficiency at all. |
|
| ਪਿਰੁ ਛੈਲੁ ਛਬੀਲਾ ਛਡਿ ਗਵਾਇਓ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਰਮਿ ਵਿਹੂਣੀ ॥ |
| pir shhail shhabeelaa shhadd gavaaeiou dhuramath karam vihoonee || |
| I abandoned and lost my fascinating and beautiful Husband Lord; in this evil-mindedness, I have lost my good fortune. |
|
| ਨਾ ਹਉ ਭੁਲੀ ਨਾ ਹਉ ਚੁਕੀ ਨਾ ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੋਸਾ ॥ |
| naa ho bhulee naa ho chukee naa mai naahee dhosaa || |
| I am not mistaken, and I am not confused; I have no egotism, and commit no offense. |
