| ਨਿਧਨਿਆ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਗੁਰਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਿੰਮਾਣਿਆ ਤੂ ਮਾਣੁ ॥ |
| nidhhaniaa dhhan niguriaa gur ninmaaniaa thoo maan || |
| You are the wealth of the poor, the Guru of the guru-less, the honor of the dishonored. |

| ਅੰਧੁਲੈ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਕੜਿਆ ਨਿਤਾਣਿਆ ਤੂ ਤਾਣੁ ॥ |
| andhhulai maanak gur pakarriaa nithaaniaa thoo thaan || |
| I am blind; I have grasped hold of the jewel, the Guru. You are the strength of the weak. |

| ਹੋਮ ਜਪਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥ |
| hom japaa nehee jaaniaa guramathee saach pashhaan || |
| He is not known through burnt offerings and ritual chanting; the True Lord is known through the Guru's Teachings. |

| ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਦਰਿ ਢੋਈ ਝੂਠਾ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੩॥ |
| naam binaa naahee dhar dtoee jhoothaa aavan jaan ||3|| |
| Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, no one finds shelter in the Court of the Lord; the false come and go in reincarnation. ||3|| |

| ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| saachaa naam salaaheeai saachae thae thripath hoe || |
| So praise the True Name, and through the True Name, you will find satisfaction. |

| ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਜੀਐ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਮੈਲਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| giaan rathan man maajeeai bahurr n mailaa hoe || |
| When the mind is cleaned with the jewel of spiritual wisdom, it does not become dirty again. |

| ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| jab lag saahib man vasai thab lag bighan n hoe || |
| As long as the Lord and Master dwells in the mind, no obstacles are encountered. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੇ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੦॥ |

| The Yogi who is joined to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is pure; he is not stained by even a particle of dirt. |

| ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨਾਥੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੰਗੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਗਤਿ ਬੀਤੀ ॥੧॥ |
| preetham naathh sadhaa sach sangae janam maran gath beethee ||1|| |
| The True Lord, his Beloved, is always with him; the rounds of birth and death are ended for him. ||1|| |

| ਜਾ ਤਉ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਵਹਿ ਪੂਛਉ ਬਾਤ ਨਿਰੰਤੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jaa tho bheethar mehal bulaavehi pooshho baath niranthee ||1|| rehaao || |
| If You summon me into the Mansion of Your Presence, I will ask You, how I can become one with You. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬ੍ਰਹਮਣੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਪੂਜੇ ਪਾਤੀ ॥ |
| brehaman breham giaan eisanaanee har gun poojae paathee || |
| He alone is a Brahmin, who takes his cleansing bath in the spiritual wisdom of God, and whose leaf-offerings in worship are the Glorious Praises of the Lord. |

| ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤੀ ॥੨॥ |
| eaeko naam eaek naaraaein thribhavan eaekaa jothee ||2|| |
| The One Name, the One Lord, and His One Light pervade the three worlds. ||2|| |
|
| ਜਿਹਵਾ ਡੰਡੀ ਇਹੁ ਘਟੁ ਛਾਬਾ ਤੋਲਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਜਾਚੀ ॥ |
| jihavaa ddanddee eihu ghatt shhaabaa tholo naam ajaachee || |
| My tongue is the balance of the scale, and this heart of mine is the pan of the scale; I weigh the immeasurable Naam. |

| ਏਕੋ ਹਾਟੁ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਇਕ ਭਾਤੀ ॥੩॥ |
| eaeko haatt saahu sabhanaa sir vanajaarae eik bhaathee ||3|| |
| There is one store, and one banker above all; the merchants deal in the one commodity. ||3|| |
|
| ਦੋਵੈ ਸਿਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਿਬੇੜੇ ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਜੀਅਹੁ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਭਰਾਤੀ ॥ |
| dhovai sirae sathiguroo nibaerrae so boojhai jis eaek liv laagee jeeahu rehai nibharaathee || |
| The True Guru saves us at both ends; he alone understands, who is lovingly focused on the One Lord; his inner being remains free of doubt. |

| ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸਾਏ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਸਦਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੪॥ |
| sabadh vasaaeae bharam chukaaeae sadhaa saevak dhin raathee ||4|| |
| The Word of the Shabad abides within, and doubt is ended, for those who constantly serve, day and night. ||4|| |

| ਊਪਰਿ ਗਗਨੁ ਗਗਨ ਪਰਿ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅਗਮੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਪੁਨਿ ਵਾਸੀ ॥ |
| oopar gagan gagan par gorakh thaa kaa agam guroo pun vaasee || |
| Above is the sky of the mind, and beyond this sky is the Lord, the Protector of the World; the Inaccessible Lord God; the Guru abides there as well. |

| Day and night, he remains awake and aware; he never sleeps or dreams. |

| He alone knows this, who feels the pain of separation from God. |

| ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੇ ਕਾਨ ਲਗੇ ਤਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਵੈਦੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ |

| My body is pierced through with the arrow of love. How can any physician know the cure? ||1|| |

| ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਿਫਤੀ ਲਾਏ ॥ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਿਸੈ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥ |

| Rare is that one, who as Gurmukh, understands, and whom the True Lord links to His Praise. |

| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| He alone appreciates the value of the Ambsosial Nectar, who deals in this Ambrosia. ||1||Pause|| |

| The soul-bride is in love with her Husband Lord; |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਥਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ |

| the focuses her consciousness on the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਸਹਜ ਸੇਤੀ ਧਨ ਖਰੀ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਤਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ |
| sehaj saethee dhhan kharee suhaelee thrisanaa thikhaa nivaaree jeeo ||2|| |
| The soul-bride is joyously embellished with intuitive ease; her hunger and thirst are taken away. ||2|| |

| ਸਹਸਾ ਤੋੜੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥ |
| sehasaa thorrae bharam chukaaeae || |
| Tear down skepticism and dispel your doubt; |
|
| ਸਹਜੇ ਸਿਫਤੀ ਧਣਖੁ ਚੜਾਏ ॥ |
| sehajae sifathee dhhanakh charraaeae || |
| with your intuition, draw the bow of the Praise of the Lord. |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਜੋਗਾਧਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ |
| gur kai sabadh marai man maarae sundhar jogaadhhaaree jeeo ||3|| |
| Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, conquer and subdue your mind; take the support of Yoga - Union with the beautiful Lord. ||3|| |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਜਲਿਆ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥ |
| houmai jaliaa manahu visaarae || |
| Burnt by egotism, one forgets the Lord from his mind. |

| ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਵਜਹਿ ਖੜਗ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥ |
| jam pur vajehi kharrag karaarae || |
| In the City of Death, he is attacked with massive swords. |
|
| ਅਬ ਕੈ ਕਹਿਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਮਿਲਈ ਤੂ ਸਹੁ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਭਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥ |
| ab kai kehiai naam n milee thoo sahu jeearrae bhaaree jeeo ||4|| |
| Then, even if he asks for it, he will not receive the Lord's Name; O soul, you shall suffer terrible punishment. ||4|| |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਪਵਹਿ ਖਿਆਲੀ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mamathaa pavehi khiaalee || |
| You are distracted by thoughts of Maya and worldly attachment. |
|
| ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਫਾਸਹਿਗਾ ਜਮ ਜਾਲੀ ॥ |
| jam pur faasehigaa jam jaalee || |
| In the City of Death, you will be caught by the noose of the Messenger of Death. |
|
| ਹੇਤ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਹਿ ਤਾ ਜਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਖੁਆਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥ |
| haeth kae bandhhan thorr n saakehi thaa jam karae khuaaree jeeo ||5|| |
| You cannot break free from the bondage of loving attachment, and so the Messenger of Death will torture you. ||5|| |
|
| ਨਾ ਹਉ ਕਰਤਾ ਨਾ ਮੈ ਕੀਆ ॥ |
| naa ho karathaa naa mai keeaa || |
| I have done nothing; I am doing nothing now. |
|
| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥ |

| The True Guru has blessed me with the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam. |

| sabh nagaree mehi eaeko raajaa sabhae pavith hehi thhaavaa ||1|| |
| In the entire village, there is only One King; all places are sacred. ||1|| |

| ਬਾਬਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਵਸਾ ਸਚ ਗਾਵਾ ॥ |
| baabaa dhaehi vasaa sach gaavaa || |
| O Baba, while I dwell in this body, let me sing Your True Praises, |

| ਜਾ ਤੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| buraa bhalaa kishh aapas thae jaaniaa eaeee sagal vikaaraa || |
| He thinks that good and bad deeds come from himself; this is the source of all evil. |

| ਇਹੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਹੋਆ ਵਰਤੈ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ |
| eihu furamaaeiaa khasam kaa hoaa varathai eihu sansaaraa ||2|| |
| Whatever happens in this world is only by the Order of our Lord and Master. ||2|| |
