| Why do you try to deceive others, O people of the world? The Fascinating Lord is Merciful to the meek. ||1|| |

| The brave and heroic Guru, the Generous Giver, gives Sanctuary and preserves our honor. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| bhagathaa kaa aagiaakaaree sadhaa sadhaa sukhadhaaee ||2|| |
| He submits to the Will of His devotees; He is forever and ever the Giver of peace. ||2|| |

| ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੩॥ |
| apanae ko kirapaa kareeahu eik naam dhhiaaee ||3|| |
| Please bless me with Your Mercy, that I may meditate on Your Name alone. ||3|| |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੀਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥੪॥੪॥੨੦॥ |

| Nanak, the meek and humble, begs for the Naam, the Name of the Lord; it eradicates duality and doubt. ||4||4||20|| |

| My Lord and Master is utterly powerful. |

| ਮੋਹਿ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ |

| I am just His poor servant. ||1|| |

| ਮੋਹਨੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਾ ॥ |
| mohan laal maeraa preetham man praanaa || |
| My Enticing Beloved is very dear to my mind and my breath of life. |

| I have seen and tested all. |

| There is none other than Him. ||2|| |

| ਜੀਅਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਿ ਸਮਾਹੈ ॥ |

| He sustains and nurtures all beings. |

| ਹੈ ਹੋਸੀ ਆਹੇ ॥੩॥ |
| hai hosee aahae ||3|| |
| He was, and shall always be. ||3|| |

| ਦਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਕੀਜੈ ਦੇਵਾ ॥ |
| dhaeiaa mohi keejai dhaevaa || |
| Please bless me with Your Mercy, O Divine Lord, |

| The Redeemer of sinners, who carries us across; I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice to Him. |

| ਐਸਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੇਟੈ ਸੰਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ |
| aisaa koee bhaettai santh jith har harae har dhhiaaeeai ||1|| |
| If only I could meet with such a Saint, who would inspire me to meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||1|| |

| ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥ |
| mo ko koe n jaanath keheeath dhaas thumaaraa || |
| No one knows me; I am called Your slave. |

| ਏਹਾ ਓਟ ਆਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| eaehaa outt aadhhaaraa ||1|| rehaao || |
| This is my support and sustenance. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਰਬ ਧਾਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰਨ ਇਕ ਬਿਨਉ ਦੀਨਾ ॥ |
| sarab dhhaaran prathipaaran eik bino dheenaa || |
| You support and cherish all; I am meek and humble - this is my only prayer. |

| ਤੁਮਰੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਜਲ ਹਮ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੨॥ |
| thumaree bidhh thum hee jaanahu thum jal ham meenaa ||2|| |
| You alone know Your Way; You are the water, and I am the fish. ||2|| |

| ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਸਥੀਰਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਹਿ ਆਇਓ ਪਾਛੈ ॥ |
| pooran bisathheeran suaamee aahi aaeiou paashhai || |
| O Perfect and Expansive Lord and Master, I follow You in love. |

| ਅਟਲ ਅਖਇਓ ਦੇਵਾ ਮੋਹਨ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ |
| attal akhaeiou dhaevaa mohan alakh apaaraa || |
| You are eternal and unchanging, imperishable, invisible and infinite, O divine fascinating Lord. |

| ਦਾਨੁ ਪਾਵਉ ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੇਨੁ ਦਾਸਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੨੨॥ |
| dhaan paavo santhaa sang naanak raen dhaasaaraa ||4||6||22|| |
| Please bless Nanak with the gift of the Society of the Saints, and the dust of the feet of Your slaves. ||4||6||22|| |

| ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਆਘਾਏ ਸੰਤਾ ॥ |

| The Saints are fulfilled and satisfied; |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਜਾਨੇ ਜਿਨ ਮੰਤਾ ॥ |
| gur jaanae jin manthaa || |
| they know the Guru's Mantra and the Teachings. |
|
| ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| thaa kee kishh kehan n jaaee || |
| They cannot even be described; |
|
| ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਾਮ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| jaa ko naam baddaaee ||1|| |
| they are blessed with the glorious greatness of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਲਾਲੁ ਅਮੋਲਾ ਲਾਲੋ ॥ |
| laal amolaa laalo || |
| My Beloved is a priceless jewel. |
|
| ਅਗਹ ਅਤੋਲਾ ਨਾਮੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ageh atholaa naamo ||1|| rehaao || |
| His Name is unattainable and immeasurable. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਅਵਿਗਤ ਸਿਉ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਮਾਨੋ ॥ |
| avigath sio maaniaa maano || |
| One whose mind is satisfied believing in the imperishable Lord God, |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੋ ॥ |
| guramukh thath giaano || |
| becomes Gurmukh and attains the essence of spiritual wisdom. |
|
| ਪੇਖਤ ਸਗਲ ਧਿਆਨੋ ॥ |
| paekhath sagal dhhiaano || |
| He sees all in his meditation. |
|
| ਤਜਿਓ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੋ ॥੨॥ |
| thajiou man thae abhimaano ||2|| |
| He banishes egotistical pride from his mind. ||2|| |
|
| ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਠਾਣਾ ॥ |
| nihachal thin kaa thaanaa || |
| Permanent is the place of those |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ ॥ |
| gur thae mehal pashhaanaa || |
| who, through the Guru, realize the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. |
|
| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਾਗੇ ॥ |
| anadhin gur mil jaagae || |
| Meeting the Guru, they remain awake and aware night and day; |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੩॥ |
| har kee saevaa laagae ||3|| |
| they are committed to the Lord's service. ||3|| |
|
| ਪੂਰਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਏ ॥ |
| pooran thripath aghaaeae || |
| They are perfectly fulfilled and satisfied, |
|
| ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ |
| sehaj samaadhh subhaaeae || |
| intuitively absorbed in Samaadhi. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ |
| har bhanddaar haathh aaeiaa || |
| The Lord's treasure comes into their hands; |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੩॥ |
| naanak gur thae paaeiaa ||4||7||23|| |
| O Nanak, through the Guru, they attain it. ||4||7||23|| |

| shhodd sagal siaanapaa mil saadhh thiaag gumaan || |
| Abandon all your clever tricks; meet with the Holy, and renounce your egotistical pride. |

| ਅਵਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਵਖਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ |
| avar sabh kishh mithhiaa rasanaa raam raam vakhaan ||1|| |
| Everything else is false; with your tongue, chant the Name of the Lord, Raam, Raam. ||1|| |
