| ਸਬਦੁ ਸਲਾਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥ |
| sabadh salaahehi sae jan niramal nij ghar vaasaa thaahaa hae ||14|| |
| Those humble beings who praise the Shabad are immaculate; they dwell within the home of their own inner self. ||14|| |

| ਸਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ |
| sadhaa bhagath thaeree saranaaee || |
| The devotees abide forever in Your Sanctuary, Lord. |

| ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| agam agochar keemath nehee paaee || |
| You are inaccessible and unfathomable; Your value cannot be estimated. |

| ਜਿਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥ |
| jio thudhh bhaavehi thio thoo raakhehi guramukh naam dhhiaahaa hae ||15|| |
| As it pleases Your Will, You keep us; the Gurmukh meditates on the Naam. ||15|| |

| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa thaerae gun gaavaa || |
| Forever and ever, I sing Your Glorious Praises. |

| ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਾ ॥ |
| sachae saahib thaerai man bhaavaa || |
| O my True Lord and Master, may I become pleasing to Your Mind. |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥੧੦॥ |
| naanak saach kehai baenanthee sach dhaevahu sach samaahaa hae ||16||1||10|| |
| Nanak offers this true prayer: O Lord, please bless me with Truth, that I may merge in the Truth. ||16||1||10|| |

| Those who serve the True Guru are very fortunate. |

| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ |
| anadhin saach naam liv laagee || |
| Night and day, they remain lovingly attuned to the True Name. |
 |
| ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਓਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ |
| sadhaa sukhadhaathaa raviaa ghatt anthar sabadh sachai oumaahaa hae ||1|| |
| The Lord, the Giver of peace, abides forever deep within their hearts; they delight in the True Word of the Shabad. ||1|| |

| ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| nadhar karae thaa guroo milaaeae || |
| When the Lord grants His Grace, one meets with the Guru. |

| ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| har kaa naam mann vasaaeae || |
| The Name of the Lord is enshrined within the mind. |
 |
| ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਬਦੇ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥ |
| har man vasiaa sadhaa sukhadhaathaa sabadhae man oumaahaa hae ||2|| |
| The Lord, the Giver of peace, abides forever within the mind; the mind is delighted with the Word of the Shabad. ||2|| |

| ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| kirapaa karae thaa mael milaaeae || |
| When the Lord bestows His Mercy, He unites in His Union. |
 |
| ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥ |
| houmai mamathaa sabadh jalaaeae || |
| Egotism and attachment are burned away by the Shabad. |
 |
| ਸਦਾ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਕਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥ |
| sadhaa mukath rehai eik rangee naahee kisai naal kaahaa hae ||3|| |
| In the Love of the One Lord, one remains liberated forever; he is not in conflict with anyone. ||3|| |
 |
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥ |
| bin sathigur saevae ghor andhhaaraa || |
| Without serving the True Guru, there is only pitch-black darkness. |
 |
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਪਾਰਾ ॥ |
| bin sabadhai koe n paavai paaraa || |
| Without the Shabad, no one crosses over to the other side. |
 |
| ਜੋ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਹਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥ |
| jo sabadh raathae mehaa bairaagee so sach sabadhae laahaa hae ||4|| |
| Those who are imbued with the Shabad, are very detached. They earn the profit of the True Word of the Shabad. ||4|| |

| ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| dhukh sukh karathai dhhur likh paaeiaa || |
| Pain and pleasure are pre-ordained by the Creator. |
 |
| ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਾਇਆ ॥ |
| dhoojaa bhaao aap varathaaeiaa || |
| He Himself has caused the love of duality to be pervasive. |
 |
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਅਲਿਪਤੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਵੇਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥ |
| guramukh hovai s alipatho varathai manamukh kaa kiaa vaesaahaa hae ||5|| |
| One who becomes Gurmukh remains detached; how can anyone trust the self-willed manmukh? ||5|| |

| ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥ |
| sae manamukh jo sabadh n pashhaanehi || |
| Those who do not recognize the Shabad are manmukhs. |
 |
| ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਭੈ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥ |
| gur kae bhai kee saar n jaanehi || |
| They do not know the essence of the Fear of the Guru. |
 |
| ਭੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਮੁ ਕਾਢਿ ਲਏਗਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥ |
| bhai bin kio nirabho sach paaeeai jam kaadt leaegaa saahaa hae ||6|| |
| Without this Fear, how can anyone find the Fearless True Lord? The Messenger of Death will pull the breath out. ||6|| |

| ਅਫਰਿਓ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| afariou jam maariaa n jaaee || |
| The invulnerable Messenger of Death cannot be killed. |
 |
| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਈ ॥ |
| gur kai sabadhae naerr n aaee || |
| The Word of the Guru's Shabad prevents him from approaching. |
 |
| ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣੇ ਤਾ ਦੂਰਹੁ ਭਾਗੈ ਮਤੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥ |
| sabadh sunae thaa dhoorahu bhaagai math maarae har jeeo vaeparavaahaa hae ||7|| |
| When he hears the Word of the Shabad, he runs far away. He is afraid that the self-sufficient Dear Lord will kill him. ||7|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਸਿਰਕਾਰਾ ॥ |
| har jeeo kee hai sabh sirakaaraa || |
| The Dear Lord is the Ruler above all. |
 |
| ਏਹੁ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥ |
| eaehu jam kiaa karae vichaaraa || |
| What can this wretched Messenger of Death do? |
 |
| ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਢਦਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥ |
| hukamee bandhaa hukam kamaavai hukamae kadtadhaa saahaa hae ||8|| |
| As slave to the Hukam of the Lord's Command, the mortal acts according to His Hukam. According to His Hukam, he is deprived of his breath. ||8|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਕੀਆ ਅਕਾਰਾ ॥ |
| guramukh saachai keeaa akaaraa || |
| The Gurmukh realizes that the True Lord created the creation. |
 |
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| guramukh pasariaa sabh paasaaraa || |
| The Gurmukh knows that the Lord has expanded the entire expanse. |
 |
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥ |
| guramukh hovai so sach boojhai sabadh sachai sukh thaahaa hae ||9|| |
| One who becomes Gurmukh, understands the True Lord. Through the True Word of the Shabad, he finds peace. ||9|| |

| ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ |
| jug chaarae gur sabadh pashhaathaa || |
| Throughout the four ages, he recognizes the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਨਮੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥ |
| guramukh marai n janamai guramukh guramukh sabadh samaahaa hae ||10|| |
| The Gurmukh does not die, the Gurmukh is not reborn; the Gurmukh is immersed in the Shabad. ||10|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ॥ |

| The Gurmukh praises the Naam, and the Shabad. |
 |
| ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥ |
| agam agochar vaeparavaahae || |
| God is inaccessible, unfathomable and self-sufficient. |
 |
| ਏਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਸਬਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥ |
| eaek naam jug chaar oudhhaarae sabadhae naam visaahaa hae ||11|| |
| The Naam, the Name of the One Lord, saves and redeems throughout the four ages. Through the Shabad, one trades in the Naam. ||11|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| guramukh saanth sadhaa sukh paaeae || |
| The Gurmukh obtains eternal peace and tranqulity. |
 |
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| guramukh hiradhai naam vasaaeae || |
| The Gurmukh enshrines the Naam within his heart. |
 |
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਕਾਟੇ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥ |
| guramukh hovai so naam boojhai kaattae dhuramath faahaa hae ||12|| |
| One who becomes Gurmukh recognizes the Naam, and the noose of evil-mindedness is snapped. ||12|| |
 |
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥ |
| guramukh oupajai saach samaavai || |
| The Gurmukh wells up from, and then merges back into Truth. |
 |
| ਨਾ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਨ ਜੂਨੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
| naa mar janmai n joonee paavai || |
| He does not die and take birth, and is not consigned to reincarnation. |
 |
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲੈਦੇ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥ |
| guramukh sadhaa rehehi rang raathae anadhin laidhae laahaa hae ||13|| |
| The Gurmukh remains forever imbued with the color of the Lord's Love. Night and day, he earns a profit. ||13|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥ |
| guramukh bhagath sohehi dharabaarae || |
| The Gurmukhs, the devotees, are exalted and beautified in the Court of the Lord. |
 |
| ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥ |
| sachee baanee sabadh savaarae || |
| They are embellished with the True Word of His Bani, and the Word of the Shabad. |
 |
| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥ |
| anadhin gun gaavai dhin raathee sehaj saethee ghar jaahaa hae ||14|| |
| Night and day, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, day and night, and they intuitively go to their own home. ||14|| |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥ |
