| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥ |
| sathigur saev sadhaa prabh paaeiaa aapai aap milaaeidhaa ||6|| |
| Serving the True Guru forever, they find God; He Himself unites them with Himself. ||6|| |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohi bharam n paaeae || |
| In attachment to Maya and doubt, the Lord is not found. |
|
| ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਗਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| dhoojai bhaae lagaa dhukh paaeae || |
| Attached to the love of duality, one suffers in pain. |
|
| ਸੂਹਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਦਿਨ ਥੋੜੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਇਸੁ ਜਾਦੇ ਬਿਲਮ ਨ ਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥ |
| soohaa rang dhin thhorrae hovai eis jaadhae bilam n laaeidhaa ||7|| |
| The crimson color lasts for only a few days; all too soon, it fades away. ||7|| |
|
| ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਰੰਗਾਏ ॥ |
| eaehu man bhai bhaae rangaaeae || |
| So color this mind in the Fear and the Love of God. |
|
| ਇਤੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ |
| eith rang saachae maahi samaaeae || |
| Dyed in this color, one merges in the True Lord. |
|
| ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਕੋ ਇਹੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਚੜਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥ |
| poorai bhaag ko eihu rang paaeae guramathee rang charraaeidhaa ||8|| |
| By perfect destiny, some may obtain this color. Through the Guru's Teachings, this color is applied. ||8|| |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| manamukh bahuth karae abhimaan || |
| The self-willed manmukhs take great pride in themselves. |
|
| ਦਰਗਹ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| dharageh kab hee n paavai maan || |
| In the Court of the Lord, they are never honored. |
|
| ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥ |
| dhoojai laagae janam gavaaeiaa bin boojhae dhukh paaeidhaa ||9|| |
| Attached to duality, they waste their lives; without understanding, they suffer in pain. ||9|| |
|
| ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਆਪੁ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ॥ |
| maerai prabh andhar aap lukaaeiaa || |
| My God has hidden Himself deep within the self. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee har milai milaaeiaa || |
| By Guru's Grace, one is united in the Lord's Union. |
|
| ਸਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਚਾ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥ |
| sachaa prabh sachaa vaapaaraa naam amolak paaeidhaa ||10|| |
| God is True, and True is His trade, through which the priceless Naam is obtained. ||10|| |
|
| ਇਸੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| eis kaaeiaa kee keemath kinai n paaee || |
| No one has found this body's value. |
|
| ਮੇਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਇਹ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥ |
| maerai thaakur eih banath banaaee || |
| My Lord and Master has worked His handiwork. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਸੋਧੈ ਆਪਹਿ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥ |
| guramukh hovai s kaaeiaa sodhhai aapehi aap milaaeidhaa ||11|| |
| One who becomes Gurmukh purifies his body, and then the Lord unites him with Himself. ||11|| |
|
| ਕਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਤੋਟਾ ਕਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਲਾਹਾ ॥ |
| kaaeiaa vich thottaa kaaeiaa vich laahaa || |
| Within the body, one loses, and within the body, one wins. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਖੋਜੇ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ॥ |
| guramukh khojae vaeparavaahaa || |
| The Gurmukh seeks the self-sustaining Lord. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥ |
| guramukh vanaj sadhaa sukh paaeae sehajae sehaj milaaeidhaa ||12|| |
| The Gurmukh trades, and finds peace forever; he intuitively merges in the Celestial Lord. ||12|| |
|
| ਸਚਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਸਚੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥ |
| sachaa mehal sachae bhanddaaraa || |
| True is the Lord's Mansion, and True is His treasure. |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ |
| aapae dhaevai dhaevanehaaraa || |
| The Great Giver Himself gives. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਮਨਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥ |
| guramukh saalaahae sukhadhaathae man maelae keemath paaeidhaa ||13|| |
| The Gurmukh praises the Giver of peace; his mind is united with the Lord, and he comes to know His worth. ||13|| |
|
| ਕਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| kaaeiaa vich vasath keemath nehee paaee || |
| Within the body is the object; its value cannot be estimated. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ |
| guramukh aapae dhae vaddiaaee || |
| He Himself grants glorious greatness to the Gurmukh. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹਟੁ ਸੋਈ ਵਥੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਪਛੋਤਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥ |
| jis dhaa hatt soee vathh jaanai guramukh dhaee n pashhothaaeidhaa ||14|| |
| He alone knows this object, to whom this store belongs; the Gurmukh is blessed with it, and does not come to regret. ||14|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥ |
| har jeeo sabh mehi rehiaa samaaee || |
| The Dear Lord is pervading and permeating all. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee paaeiaa jaaee || |
| By Guru's Grace, He is found. |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| aapae sachaa sabadh milaaeae || |
| The True Lord Himself unites us in the Word of His Shabad. |
|
| ਸਬਦੇ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥ |
| sabadhae vichahu bharam chukaaeae || |
| Within the Shabad, doubt is driven out. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੮॥੨੨॥ |
| naanak naam milai vaddiaaee naamae hee sukh paaeidhaa ||16||8||22|| |
| O Nanak, He blesses us with His Naam, and throgh the Naam, peace is found. ||16||8||22|| |

| He is inaccessible, unfathomable and self-sustaining. |

| ਆਪੇ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹੇ ॥ |
| aapae miharavaan agam athhaahae || |
| He Himself is merciful, inaccessible and unlimited. |
|
| ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ |
| aparr koe n sakai this no gur sabadhee maelaaeiaa ||1|| |
| No one can reach up to Him; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is met. ||1|| |
|
| ਤੁਧੁਨੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
| thudhhuno saevehi jo thudhh bhaavehi || |
| He alone serves You, who pleases You. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
| gur kai sabadhae sach samaavehi || |
| Through the Guru's Shabad, he merges in the True Lord. |
|
| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ |
| anadhin gun ravehi dhin raathee rasanaa har ras bhaaeiaa ||2|| |
| Night and day, he chants the Lord's Praises, day and night; his tongue savors and delights in the sublime essence of the Lord. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਮਰਣੁ ਸਵਾਰਹਿ ॥ |
| sabadh marehi sae maran savaarehi || |
| Those who die in the Shabad - their death is exalted and glorified. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਹਿ ॥ |
| har kae gun hiradhai our dhhaarehi || |
| They enshrine the Lord's Glories in their hearts. |
|
| ਜਨਮੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| janam safal har charanee laagae dhoojaa bhaao chukaaeiaa ||3|| |
| Holding tight to the Guru's feet, their lives becomes prosperous, and they are rid of the love of duality. ||3|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮੇਲੇ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| har jeeo maelae aap milaaeae || |
| The Dear Lord unites them in Union with Himself. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ |
| gur kai sabadhae aap gavaaeae || |
| Through the Guru's Shabad, self-conceit is dispelled. |
|
| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਰਾਤੇ ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥ |
| anadhin sadhaa har bhagathee raathae eis jag mehi laahaa paaeiaa ||4|| |
| Those who remain attuned to devotional worship to the Lord, night and day, earn the profit in this world. ||4|| |
|
| ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਾ ਮੈ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| thaerae gun kehaa mai kehan n jaaee || |
| What Glorious Virtues of Yours should I describe? I cannot describe them. |
|
| ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| anth n paaraa keemath nehee paaee || |
| You have no end or limitation. Your value cannot be estimated. |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੫॥ |
| aapae dhaeiaa karae sukhadhaathaa gun mehi gunee samaaeiaa ||5|| |
| When the Giver of peace Himself bestows His Mercy, the virtuous are absorbed in virtue. ||5|| |
|
| ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਮੋਹੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| eis jag mehi mohu hai paasaaraa || |
| In this world, emotional attachment is spread all over. |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥ |
| manamukh agiaanee andhh andhhaaraa || |
| The ignorant, self-willed manmukh is immersed in utter darkness. |
|
| ਧੰਧੈ ਧਾਵਤੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥ |
| dhhandhhai dhhaavath janam gavaaeiaa bin naavai dhukh paaeiaa ||6|| |
| Chasing after worldly affairs, he wastes away his life in vain; without the Name, he suffers in pain. ||6|| |
|
| ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| karam hovai thaa sathigur paaeae || |
| If God grants His Grace, then one finds the True Guru. |
