ਸਭ ਘਟ ਆਪੇ ਭੋਗਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ |
sabh ghatt aapae bhoganehaaraa || |
He is the Enjoyer of all hearts. |

ਅਲਖੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ |
alakh varathai agam apaaraa || |
The Invisible, Inaccessible and Infinite is pervading everywhere. |

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
gur kai sabadh maeraa har prabh dhhiaaeeai sehajae sach samaavaniaa ||1|| |
Meditating on my Lord God, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I am intuitively absorbed in the Truth. ||1|| |

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥ |
ho vaaree jeeo vaaree gur sabadh mann vasaavaniaa || |
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who implant the Word of the Guru's Shabad in their minds. |

ਸਬਦੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਤਾ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਲੂਝੈ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
sabadh soojhai thaa man sio loojhai manasaa maar samaavaniaa ||1|| rehaao || |
When someone understands the Shabad, then he wrestles with his own mind; subduing his desires, he merges with the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਮੁਹਹਿ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
panch dhooth muhehi sansaaraa || |
The five enemies are plundering the world. |
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
manamukh andhhae sudhh n saaraa || |
The blind, self-willed manmukhs do not understand or appreciate this. |
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਅਪਣਾ ਘਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
guramukh hovai s apanaa ghar raakhai panch dhooth sabadh pachaavaniaa ||2|| |
Those who become Gurmukh-their houses are protected. The five enemies are destroyed by the Shabad. ||2|| |

ਇਕਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥ |
eik guramukh sadhaa sachai rang raathae || |
The Gurmukhs are forever imbued with love for the True One. |
|
ਸਹਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਮਾਤੇ ॥ |
sehajae prabh saevehi anadhin maathae || |
They serve God with intuitive ease. Night and day, they are intoxicated with His Love. |

ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
mil preetham sachae gun gaavehi har dhar sobhaa paavaniaa ||3|| |
Meeting with their Beloved, they sing the Glorious Praises of the True one; they are honored in the Court of the Lord. ||3|| |
|
ਏਕਮ ਏਕੈ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
eaekam eaekai aap oupaaeiaa || |
First, the One created Himself; |
|
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
dhubidhhaa dhoojaa thribidhh maaeiaa || |
second, the sense of duality; third, the three-phased Maya. |
|
ਚਉਥੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਊਚੀ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ |
chouthhee pourree guramukh oochee sacho sach kamaavaniaa ||4|| |
The fourth state, the highest, is obtained by the Gurmukh, who practices Truth, and only Truth. ||4|| |
|
ਸਭੁ ਹੈ ਸਚਾ ਜੇ ਸਚੇ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ |
sabh hai sachaa jae sachae bhaavai || |
Everything which is pleasing to the True Lord is true. |
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥ |
jin sach jaathaa so sehaj samaavai || |
Those who know the Truth merge in intuitive peace and poise. |
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ |
guramukh karanee sachae saevehi saachae jaae samaavaniaa ||5|| |
The life-style of the Gurmukh is to serve the True Lord. He goes and blends with the True Lord. ||5|| |
|
ਸਚੇ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਆ ॥ |
sachae baajhahu ko avar n dhooaa || |
Without the True One, there is no other at all. |
|
ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਜਗੁ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਮੂਆ ॥ |
dhoojai laag jag khap khap mooaa || |
Attached to duality, the world is distracted and distressed to death. |
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ |
guramukh hovai s eaeko jaanai eaeko saev sukh paavaniaa ||6|| |
One who becomes Gurmukh knows only the One. Serving the One, peace is obtained. ||6|| |
|
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥ |
jeea janth sabh saran thumaaree || |
All beings and creatures are in the Protection of Your Sanctuary. |

ਆਪੇ ਧਰਿ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਕਚੀ ਪਕੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥ |
aapae dhhar dhaekhehi kachee pakee saaree || |
You place the chessmen on the board; You see the imperfect and the perfect as well. |
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ |
anadhin aapae kaar karaaeae aapae mael milaavaniaa ||7|| |
Night and day, You cause people to act; You unite them in Union with Yourself. ||7|| |
|
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥ |
thoon aapae maelehi vaekhehi hadhoor || |
You Yourself unite, and You see Yourself close at hand. |
|
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ |
sabh mehi aap rehiaa bharapoor || |
You Yourself are totally pervading amongst all. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੬॥੭॥ |
naanak aapae aap varathai guramukh sojhee paavaniaa ||8||6||7|| |
O Nanak, God Himself is pervading and permeating everywhere; only the Gurmukhs understand this. ||8||6||7|| |

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੀਠੀ ॥ |

The Nectar of the Guru's Bani is very sweet. |

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਚਖਿ ਡੀਠੀ ॥ |
guramukh viralai kinai chakh ddeethee || |
Rare are the Gurmukhs who see and taste it. |
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
anthar paragaas mehaa ras peevai dhar sachai sabadh vajaavaniaa ||1|| |
The Divine Light dawns within, and the supreme essence is found. In the True Court, the Word of the Shabad vibrates. ||1|| |

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥ |
ho vaaree jeeo vaaree gur charanee chith laavaniaa || |
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who focus their consciousness on the Guru's Feet. |

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
sathigur hai anmrith sar saachaa man naavai mail chukaavaniaa ||1|| rehaao || |
The True Guru is the True Pool of Nectar; bathing in it, the mind is washed clean of all filth. ||1||Pause|| |

ਤੇਰਾ ਸਚੇ ਕਿਨੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
thaeraa sachae kinai anth n paaeiaa || |
Your limits, O True Lord, are not known to anyone. |

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
gur parasaadh kinai viralai chith laaeiaa || |
Rare are those who, by Guru's Grace, focus their consciousness on You. |

ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਨ ਰਜਾ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਭੁਖ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
thudhh saalaahi n rajaa kabehoon sachae naavai kee bhukh laavaniaa ||2|| |
Praising You, I am never satisfied; such is the hunger I feel for the True Name. ||2|| |
|
ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਬੀਆ ॥ |
eaeko vaekhaa avar n beeaa || |
I see only the One, and no other. |
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ॥ |
gur parasaadhee anmrith peeaa || |
By Guru's Grace, I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. |

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੂਖਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
gur kai sabadh thikhaa nivaaree sehajae sookh samaavaniaa ||3|| |
My thirst is quenched by the Word of the Guru's Shabad; I am absorbed in intuitive peace and poise. ||3|| |

ਰਤਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਲਰਿ ਤਿਆਗੈ ॥ |
rathan padhaarathh palar thiaagai || |
The Priceless Jewel is discarded like straw; |
|
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ |
manamukh andhhaa dhoojai bhaae laagai || |
the blind self-willed manmukhs are attached to the love of duality. |
|
ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ |
jo beejai soee fal paaeae supanai sukh n paavaniaa ||4|| |
As they plant, so do they harvest. They shall not obtain peace, even in their dreams. ||4|| |
|
ਅਪਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
apanee kirapaa karae soee jan paaeae || |
Those who are blessed with His Mercy find the Lord. |
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਭੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਭੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ |
anadhin sadhaa rehai bhai andhar bhai maar bharam chukaavaniaa ||5|| |
Night and day, they remain in the Fear of God; conquering their fears, their doubts are dispelled. ||5|| |
|
ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
bharam chukaaeiaa sadhaa sukh paaeiaa || |
Dispelling their doubts, they find a lasting peace. |
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
gur parasaadh param padh paaeiaa || |
By Guru's Grace, the supreme status is attained. |
|
ਅੰਤਰੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਹਜੇ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ |
anthar niramal niramal baanee har gun sehajae gaavaniaa ||6|| |
Deep within, they are pure, and their words are pure as well; intuitively, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||6|| |
|
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਬੇਦ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥ |
simrith saasath baedh vakhaanai || |
They recite the Simritees, the Shaastras and the Vedas, |
|
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ |
bharamae bhoolaa thath n jaanai || |
but deluded by doubt, they do not understand the essence of reality. |
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਦੁਖੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ |
bin sathigur saevae sukh n paaeae dhukho dhukh kamaavaniaa ||7|| |
Without serving the True Guru, they find no peace; they earn only pain and misery. ||7|| |

ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖੈ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
aap karae kis aakhai koee || |
The Lord Himself acts; unto whom should we complain? |
