| anadhin rang rathaa gun gaavai andhar mehal bulaavaniaa ||7|| |
| Night and day, he is imbued with the Lord's Love. He sings the Lord's Glorious Praises, and he is called to the Mansion of His Presence. ||7|| |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sathigur dhaathaa milai milaaeiaa || |
| The True Guru, the Giver, is met when the Lord leads us to meet Him. |
|
| ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਨਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥ |
| poorai bhaag man sabadh vasaaeiaa || |
| Through perfect destiny, the Shabad is enshrined in the mind. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੯॥੧੦॥ |
| naanak naam milai vaddiaaee har sachae kae gun gaavaniaa ||8||9||10|| |
| O Nanak, the greatness of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is obtained by chanting the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. ||8||9||10|| |

| Those who lose their own selves obtain everything. |

| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥ |
| gur sabadhee sachee liv laaeae || |
| They trade in Truth, they gather in Truth, and they deal only in Truth. ||1|| |

| ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੰਘਰਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| sach vananjehi sach sangharehi sach vaapaar karaavaniaa ||1|| |
| They trade in Truth, they gather in Truth, and they deal only in Truth. ||1|| |

| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥ |
| ho vaaree jeeo vaaree har gun anadhin gaavaniaa || |
| I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day. |

| ਹਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ho thaeraa thoon thaakur maeraa sabadh vaddiaaee dhaevaniaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am Yours, You are my Lord and Master. You bestow greatness through the Word of Your Shabad. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਵੇਲਾ ਵਖਤ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥ |
| vaelaa vakhath sabh suhaaeiaa || |
| That time, that moment is totally beautiful, |
|
| ਜਿਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jith sachaa maerae man bhaaeiaa || |
| when the True One becomes pleasing to my mind. |

| ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਚੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ |

| ਭਾਉ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਪਾਏ ॥ |

| The food of spiritual love is obtained when the True Guru is pleased. |
|
| ਅਨ ਰਸੁ ਚੂਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| an ras chookai har ras mann vasaaeae || |
| Other essences are forgotten, when the Lord's Essence comes to dwell in the mind. |

| ਸਚੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| sach santhokh sehaj sukh baanee poorae gur thae paavaniaa ||3|| |
| Truth, contentment and intuitive peace and poise are obtained from the Bani, the Word of the Perfect Guru. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਧ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥ |
| sathigur n saevehi moorakh andhh gavaaraa || |
| The blind and ignorant fools do not serve the True Guru; |

| ਫਿਰਿ ਓਇ ਕਿਥਹੁ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥ |
| fir oue kithhahu paaein mokh dhuaaraa || |
| how will they find the gate of salvation? |
|
| ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ |
| mar mar janmehi fir fir aavehi jam dhar chottaa khaavaniaa ||4|| |
| They die and die, over and over again, only to be reborn, over and over again. They are struck down at Death's Door. ||4|| |
|
| ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਤਾ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥ |
| sabadhai saadh jaanehi thaa aap pashhaanehi || |
| Those who know the essence of the Shabad, understand their own selves. |
|
| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ॥ |
| niramal baanee sabadh vakhaanehi || |
| Immaculate is the speech of those who chant the Word of the Shabad. |
|
| ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ |
| sachae saev sadhaa sukh paaein no nidhh naam mann vasaavaniaa ||5|| |
| Serving the True One, they find a lasting peace; they enshrine the nine treasures of the Naam within their minds. ||5|| |
|
| ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ |
| so thhaan suhaaeiaa jo har man bhaaeiaa || |
| Beautiful is that place, which is pleasing to the Lord's Mind. |
|
| ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sathasangath behi har gun gaaeiaa || |
| There, sitting in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung. |

| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਖੋਟੀ ਰਾਸਿ ਖੋਟਾ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| manamukh khottee raas khottaa paasaaraa || |
| The wealth of the self-willed manmukhs is false, and false is their ostentatious display. |
|
| ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵਨਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਭਾਰਾ ॥ |
| koorr kamaavan dhukh laagai bhaaraa || |
| They practice falsehood, and suffer terrible pain. |
|
| ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲੇ ਫਿਰਨਿ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ |
| bharamae bhoolae firan dhin raathee mar janamehi janam gavaavaniaa ||7|| |
| Deluded by doubt, they wander day and night; through birth and death, they lose their lives. ||7|| |
|
| ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥ |
| sachaa saahib mai ath piaaraa || |
| My True Lord and Master is very dear to me. |
|
| ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥ |
| poorae gur kai sabadh adhhaaraa || |
| The Shabad of the Perfect Guru is my Support. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੦॥੧੧॥ |
| naanak naam milai vaddiaaee dhukh sukh sam kar jaananiaa ||8||10||11|| |
| O Nanak, one who obtains the Greatness of the Naam, looks upon pain and pleasure as one and the same. ||8||10||11|| |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੀ ॥ |
| bin naavai sabh bharam bhulaanee || |
| Without the Name, all are deluded by doubt. |

| ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ |

| I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who focus their consciousness on the Lord. |

| ਹਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਹਜੇ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har sachaa gur bhagathee paaeeai sehajae mann vasaavaniaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| Through devotion to the Guru, the True One is found; He comes to abide in the mind, with intuitive ease. ||1||Pause|| |

| As are the desires one harbors, so are the rewards one receives. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਵਥੂ ਕਾ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
| sathigur dhaathaa sabhanaa vathhoo kaa poorai bhaag milaavaniaa ||2|| |
| The True Guru is the Giver of all things; through perfect destiny, He is met. ||2|| |
|
| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਇਕੁ ਨ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ |
| eihu man mailaa eik n dhhiaaeae || |
| This mind is filthy and polluted; it does not meditate on the One. |
|
| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਲਾਗੀ ਬਹੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਏ ॥ |
| anthar mail laagee bahu dhoojai bhaaeae || |
| Deep within, it is soiled and stained by the love of duality. |
|
| ਤਟਿ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਦਿਸੰਤਰਿ ਭਵੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਵਧੇਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| thatt theerathh dhisanthar bhavai ahankaaree hor vadhhaerai houmai mal laavaniaa ||3|| |
| The egotists may go on pilgrimages to holy rivers, sacred shrines and foreign lands, but they only gather more of the dirt of egotism. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਾ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਏ ॥ |
| sathigur saevae thaa mal jaaeae || |
| Serving the True Guru, filth and pollution are removed. |
|
| ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ |
| jeevath marai har sio chith laaeae || |
| Those who focus their consciousness on the Lord remain dead while yet alive. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ |
| har niramal sach mail n laagai sach laagai mail gavaavaniaa ||4|| |
| The True Lord is Pure; no filth sticks to Him. Those who are attached to the True One have their filth washed away. ||4|| |
|
| ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਅੰਧ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥ |
| baajh guroo hai andhh gubaaraa || |
| Without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness. |
|
| ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥ |
| agiaanee andhhaa andhh andhhaaraa || |
| The ignorant ones are blind-there is only utter darkness for them. |
|
| ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ |
| bisattaa kae keerrae bisattaa kamaavehi fir bisattaa maahi pachaavaniaa ||5|| |
| The maggots in manure do filthy deeds, and in filth they rot and putrefy. ||5|| |
|
| ਮੁਕਤੇ ਸੇਵੇ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ |
| mukathae saevae mukathaa hovai || |
| Serving the Lord of Liberation, liberation is achieved. |
