| When selfishness and conceit are eradicated from within, then there is no attachment to Maya. |

| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| niramal giaan dhhiaan ath niramal niramal baanee mann vasaavaniaa ||3|| |
| Immaculate is the spiritual wisdom, and utterly immaculate is the meditation, of those whose minds are filled with the Immaculate Bani of the Word. ||3|| |

| ਜੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ |
| jo niramal saevae s niramal hovai || |
| One who serves the Immaculate Lord becomes immaculate. |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੇ ਧੋਵੈ ॥ |
| houmai mail gur sabadhae dhhovai || |
| Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the filth of egotism is washed away. |

| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਵਾਜੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ |
| niramal vaajai anehadh dhhun baanee dhar sachai sobhaa paavaniaa ||4|| |
| The Immaculate Bani and the Unstruck Melody of the Sound-current vibrate, and in the True Court, honor is obtained. ||4|| |
|
| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ |
| niramal thae sabh niramal hovai || |
| Through the Immaculate Lord, all become immaculate. |
|
| ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਰੋਵੈ ॥ |
| niramal manooaa har sabadh parovai || |
| Immaculate is the mind which weaves the Word of the Lord's Shabad into itself. |

| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ |
| niramal naam lagae baddabhaagee niramal naam suhaavaniaa ||5|| |
| Blessed and very fortunate are those who are committed to the Immaculate Name; through the Immaculate Name, they are blessed and beautified. ||5|| |

| ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜੋ ਸਬਦੇ ਸੋਹੈ ॥ |
| so niramal jo sabadhae sohai || |
| Immaculate is the one who is adorned with the Shabad. |
|
| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥ |
| niramal naam man than mohai || |
| The Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord, entices the mind and body. |
|
| ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਲੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ |
| sach naam mal kadhae n laagai mukh oojal sach karaavaniaa ||6|| |
| No filth ever attaches itself to the True Name; one's face is made radiant by the True One. ||6|| |

| ਮਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ |
| man mailaa hai dhoojai bhaae || |
| The mind is polluted by the love of duality. |
|
| ਮੈਲਾ ਚਉਕਾ ਮੈਲੈ ਥਾਇ ॥ |
| mailaa choukaa mailai thhaae || |
| Filthy is that kitchen, and filthy is that dwelling; |
|
| ਮੈਲਾ ਖਾਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਵਧਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ |
| mailaa khaae fir mail vadhhaaeae manamukh mail dhukh paavaniaa ||7|| |
| eating filth, the self-willed manmukhs become even more filthy. Because of their filth, they suffer in pain. ||7|| |

| ਮੈਲੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਭਿ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਬਾਏ ॥ |
| mailae niramal sabh hukam sabaaeae || |
| The filthy, and the immaculate as well, are all subject to the Hukam of God's Command. |
|
| ਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਏ ॥ |
| sae niramal jo har saachae bhaaeae || |
| They alone are immaculate, who are pleasing to the True Lord. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੯॥੨੦॥ |
| naanak naam vasai man anthar guramukh mail chukaavaniaa ||8||19||20|| |
| O Nanak, the Naam abides deep within the minds of the Gurmukhs, who are cleansed of all their filth. ||8||19||20|| |

| The Lord of the Universe is radiant, and radiant are His soul-swans. |

| ਮਨੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਨਸਾ ॥ |
| man baanee niramal maeree manasaa || |
| Their minds and their speech are immaculate; they are my hope and ideal. |

| ਮਨਿ ਊਜਲ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਖ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਅਤਿ ਊਜਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| man oojal sadhaa mukh sohehi ath oojal naam dhhiaavaniaa ||1|| |
| Their minds are radiant, and their faces are always beautiful; they meditate on the most radiant Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥ |
| ho vaaree jeeo vaaree gobindh gun gaavaniaa || |
| I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. |

| ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਕਹੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਣ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| gobidh gobidh kehai dhin raathee gobidh gun sabadh sunaavaniaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| So chant Gobind, Gobind, the Lord of the Universe, day and night; sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord Gobind, through the Word of His Shabad. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ |

| Sing of the Lord Gobind with intuitive ease, |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ ਊਜਲ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਏ ॥ |
| gur kai bhai oojal houmai mal jaaeae || |
| in the Fear of the Guru; you shall become radiant, and the filth of egotism shall depart. |

| ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
| sadhaa anandh rehehi bhagath karehi dhin raathee sun gobidh gun gaavaniaa ||2|| |
| Remain in bliss forever, and perform devotional worship, day and night. Hear and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord Gobind. ||2|| |

| ਮਨੂਆ ਨਾਚੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥ |
| manooaa naachai bhagath dhrirraaeae || |
| Channel your dancing mind in devotional worship, |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| gur kai sabadh manai man milaaeae || |
| and through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, merge your mind with the Supreme Mind. |

| ਸਚਾ ਤਾਲੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਸਬਦੇ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| sachaa thaal poorae maaeiaa mohu chukaaeae sabadhae nirath karaavaniaa ||3|| |
| Let your true and perfect tune be the subjugation of your love of Maya, and let yourself dance to the Shabad. ||3|| |
|
| ਊਚਾ ਕੂਕੇ ਤਨਹਿ ਪਛਾੜੇ ॥ |
| oochaa kookae thanehi pashhaarrae || |
| People shout out loud and move their bodies, |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਇਸੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਨਚਾਏ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ |
| maaeiaa mohu eis manehi nachaaeae anthar kapatt dhukh paavaniaa ||4|| |
| The love of Maya makes this mind dance, and the deceit within makes people suffer in pain. ||4|| |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥ |
| guramukh bhagath jaa aap karaaeae || |
| When the Lord inspires one to become Gurmukh, and perform devotional worship, |
|
| ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ |
| than man raathaa sehaj subhaaeae || |
| then his body and mind are attuned to His Love with intuitive ease. |
|
| ਬਾਣੀ ਵਜੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਜਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ |
| baanee vajai sabadh vajaaeae guramukh bhagath thhaae paavaniaa ||5|| |
| The Word of His Bani vibrates, and the Word of His Shabad resounds, for the Gurmukh whose devotional worship is accepted. ||5|| |
|
| ਬਹੁ ਤਾਲ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਜੇ ਵਜਾਏ ॥ |
| bahu thaal poorae vaajae vajaaeae || |
| One may beat upon and play all sorts of instruments, |
|
| ਨਾ ਕੋ ਸੁਣੇ ਨ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| naa ko sunae n mann vasaaeae || |
| but no one will listen, and no one will enshrine it in the mind. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਪਿੜ ਬੰਧਿ ਨਾਚੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ |
| maaeiaa kaaran pirr bandhh naachai dhoojai bhaae dhukh paavaniaa ||6|| |
| For the sake of Maya, they set the stage and dance, but they are in love with duality, and they obtain only sorrow. ||6|| |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੈ ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ॥ |
| jis anthar preeth lagai so mukathaa || |
| Those whose inner beings are attached to the Lord's Love are liberated. |
|
| ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਵਸਿ ਸਚ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥ |
| eindhree vas sach sanjam jugathaa || |
| They control their sexual desires, and their lifestyle is the self-discipline of Truth. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਏ ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ |
| gur kai sabadh sadhaa har dhhiaaeae eaehaa bhagath har bhaavaniaa ||7|| |
| Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they meditate forever on the Lord. This devotional worship is pleasing to the Lord. ||7|| |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| guramukh bhagath jug chaarae hoee || |
| To live as Gurmukh is devotional worship, throughout the four ages. |
|
| ਹੋਰਤੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
| horath bhagath n paaeae koee || |
| This devotional worship is not obtained by any other means. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੦॥੨੧॥ |
| naanak naam gur bhagathee paaeeai gur charanee chith laavaniaa ||8||20||21|| |
| O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is obtained only through devotion to the Guru. So focus your consciousness on the Guru's Feet. ||8||20||21|| |

| With the True Name, pain shall never afflict you. |

| ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| sukhadhaathaa saevan sukh paaein guramath mann vasaavaniaa ||1|| |
| Those who serve the Giver of peace find peace. They enshrine the Guru's Teachings within their minds. ||1|| |

| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥ |
| ho vaaree jeeo vaaree sukh sehaj samaadhh lagaavaniaa || |
| I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who intuitively enter into the peace of Samaadhi. |

| ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jo har saevehi sae sadhaa sohehi sobhaa surath suhaavaniaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| Those who serve the Lord are always beautiful. The glory of their intuitive awareness is beautiful. ||1||Pause|| |
