| ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਠਿਨ ਤਨਿ ਪੀਰਾ ॥ |

| The body is afflicted with the terribly painful illness of egotism. |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਰੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ |

| The Gurmukh has the Medicine: singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord's Name. |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| kar kirapaa gur rog gavaaeiaa ||3|| |
| Granting His Grace, the Guru has cured the illness. ||3|| |
|
| ਚਾਰਿ ਨਦੀਆ ਅਗਨੀ ਤਨਿ ਚਾਰੇ ॥ |
| chaar nadheeaa aganee than chaarae || |
| The four evils are the four rivers of fire flowing through the body. |
|
| ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਜਲੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੇ ॥ |
| thrisanaa jalath jalae ahankaarae || |
| It is burning in desire, and burning in egotism. |
|
| ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਤਾਰੇ ॥ |
| gur raakhae vaddabhaagee thaarae || |
| Those whom the Guru protects and saves are very fortunate. |
|
| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੨॥ |

| ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਲੋਗੁ ॥ |
| har saevae so har kaa log || |
| One who serves the Lord is the Lord's person. |
|
| ਸਾਚੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਗੁ ॥ |
| saach sehaj kadhae n hovai sog || |
| He dwells in intuitive peace, and never suffers in sorrow. |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਏ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| manamukh mueae naahee har man maahi || |
| The self-willed manmukhs are dead; the Lord is not within their minds. |
|
| ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਭੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ |
| mar mar janmehi bhee mar jaahi ||1|| |
| They die and die again and again, and are reincarnated, only to die once more. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜੀਵੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| sae jan jeevae jin har man maahi || |
| They alone are alive, whose minds are filled with the Lord. |
|
| ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਹਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| saach samhaalehi saach samaahi ||1|| rehaao || |
| They contemplate the True Lord, and are absorbed in the True Lord. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ |
| har n saevehi thae har thae dhoor || |
| Those who do not serve the Lord are far away from the Lord. |
|
| ਦਿਸੰਤਰੁ ਭਵਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ |
| dhisanthar bhavehi sir paavehi dhhoor || |
| They wander in foreign lands, with dust thrown on their heads. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਨ ਲੀਏ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| har aapae jan leeeae laae || |
| The Lord Himself enjoins His humble servants to serve Him. |
|
| ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਚੂਕੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| nadhar karae chookai abhimaan || |
| When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, egotism is eradicated. |
|
| ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| saachee dharageh paavai maan || |
| Then, the mortal is honored in the Court of the True Lord. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥ |
| har jeeo vaekhai sadh hajoor || |
| He sees the Dear Lord always close at hand, ever-present. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੩॥ |
| gur kai sabadh rehiaa bharapoor ||3|| |
| Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he sees the Lord pervading and permeating all. ||3|| |

| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੀ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥ |
| jeea janth kee karae prathipaal || |
| The Lord cherishes all beings and creatures. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਦ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee sadh samhaal || |
| By Guru's Grace, contemplate Him forever. |
|
| ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| dhar saachai path sio ghar jaae || |
| You shall go to your true home in the Lord's Court with honor. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥ |

| O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall be blessed with glorious greatness. ||4||3|| |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| anthar poojaa man thae hoe || |
| One who worships the Lord within his mind, |
|
| ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖੈ ਅਉਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| eaeko vaekhai aour n koe || |
| sees the One and Only Lord, and no other. |
|
| ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਕੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| dhoojai lokee bahuth dhukh paaeiaa || |
| People in duality suffer terrible pain. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੈਨੋ ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ |
| sathigur maino eaek dhikhaaeiaa ||1|| |
| The True Guru has shown me the One Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਸਦ ਬਸੰਤੁ ॥ |
| maeraa prabh mouliaa sadh basanth || |
| My God is in bloom, forever in spring. |
|
| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| eihu man mouliaa gaae gun gobindh ||1|| rehaao || |
| This mind blossoms forth, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ |
| gur pooshhahu thumh karahu beechaar || |
| So consult the Guru, and reflect upon His wisdom; |
|
| ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ |
| thaan prabh saachae lagai piaar || |
| then, you shall be in love with the True Lord God. |
|
| ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਦਾਸਤ ਭਾਇ ॥ |
| aap shhodd hohi dhaasath bhaae || |
| Abandon your self-conceit, and be His loving servant. |
|
| ਤਉ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੨॥ |
| tho jagajeevan vasai man aae ||2|| |
| Then, the Life of the World shall come to dwell in your mind. ||2|| |
|
| ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਦ ਵੇਖੈ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥ |
| bhagath karae sadh vaekhai hajoor || |
| Worship Him with devotion, and see Him always ever-present, close at hand. |
|
| ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ |
| maeraa prabh sadh rehiaa bharapoor || |
| My God is forever permeating and pervading all. |
|
| ਇਸੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਾ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਭੇਉ ॥ |
| eis bhagathee kaa koee jaanai bhaeo || |
| Only a rare few know the mystery of this devotional worship. |
|
| ਸਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਤਮ ਦੇਉ ॥੩॥ |
| sabh maeraa prabh aatham dhaeo ||3|| |
| My God is the Enlightener of all souls. ||3|| |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| aapae sathigur mael milaaeae || |
| The True Guru Himself unites us in His Union. |
|
| ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਸਿਉ ਆਪਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ |
| jagajeevan sio aap chith laaeae || |
| He Himself links our consciousness to the Lord, the Life of the World. |
|
| ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ |
| man than hariaa sehaj subhaaeae || |
| Thus, our minds and bodies are rejuvenated with intuitive ease. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੪॥੪॥ |

| O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, we remain attuned to the String of His Love. ||4||4|| |

| by Guru's Grace, with intuitive ease. |

| Through devotional worship, self-conceit is eradicated from within, |

| ਤਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ |
| thadh hee saach milaavaa hoe ||1|| |
| and then, one meets the True Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥ |
| bhagath sohehi sadhaa har prabh dhuaar || |
| His devotees are forever beauteous at the Door of the Lord God. |
