ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਮਾਨੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥ |
guramukh hoe s hukam pashhaanai maanai hukam samaaeidhaa ||9|| |
One who becomes Gurmukh realizes the Hukam of His command; surrendering to His Command, one merges in the Lord. ||9|| |

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
hukamae aaeiaa hukam samaaeiaa || |
By His Command we come, and by His command we merge into Him again. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਦੀਸੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
hukamae dheesai jagath oupaaeiaa || |
By His Command, the world was formed. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸੁਰਗੁ ਮਛੁ ਪਇਆਲਾ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਲਾ ਰਹਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥ |
hukamae surag mashh paeiaalaa hukamae kalaa rehaaeidhaa ||10|| |
By His Command, the heavens, this world and the nether regions were created; by His Command, His Power supports them. ||10|| |

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਧਉਲ ਸਿਰਿ ਭਾਰੰ ॥ |
hukamae dhharathee dhhoul sir bhaaran || |
The Hukam of His Command is the mythical bull which supports the burden of the earth on its head. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਪਉਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਗੈਣਾਰੰ ॥ |
hukamae poun paanee gainaaran || |
By His Hukam, air, water and fire came into being. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸਿਵ ਸਕਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਖੇਲ ਖੇਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥ |
hukamae siv sakathee ghar vaasaa hukamae khael khaelaaeidhaa ||11|| |
By His Hukam, one dwells in the house of matter and energy - Shiva and Shakti. By His Hukam, He plays His plays. ||11|| |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਆਡਾਣੇ ਆਗਾਸੀ ॥ |
hukamae aaddaanae aagaasee || |
By the Hukam of His command, the sky is spread above. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜਲ ਥਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਵਾਸੀ ॥ |
hukamae jal thhal thribhavan vaasee || |
By His Hukam, His creatures dwell in the water, on the land and throughout the three worlds. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥ |
hukamae saas giraas sadhaa fun hukamae dhaekh dhikhaaeidhaa ||12|| |
By His Hukam, we draw our breath and receive our food; by His Hukam, He watches over us, and inspires us to see. ||12|| |
|
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਦਸ ਅਉਤਾਰਾ ॥ |
hukam oupaaeae dhas aouthaaraa || |
By His Hukam, He created His ten incarnations, |
|
ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨਵ ਅਗਣਤ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ |
dhaev dhaanav aganath apaaraa || |
and the uncounted and infinite gods and devils. |

ਮਾਨੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਝੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥ |
maanai hukam s dharageh paijhai saach milaae samaaeidhaa ||13|| |
Whoever obeys the Hukam of His Command, is robed with honor in the Court of the Lord; united with the Truth, He merges in the Lord. ||13|| |

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜੁਗ ਛਤੀਹ ਗੁਦਾਰੇ ॥ |
hukamae jug shhatheeh gudhaarae || |
By the Hukam of His Command, the thirty-six ages passed. |
|
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ |
hukamae sidhh saadhhik veechaarae || |
By His Hukam, the Siddhas and seekers contemplate Him. |

ਆਪਿ ਨਾਥੁ ਨਥਂੀ ਸਭ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥ |
aap naathh nathhanaee sabh jaa kee bakhasae mukath karaaeidhaa ||14|| |
The Lord Himself has brought all under His control. Whoever He forgives, is liberated. ||14|| |

ਕਾਇਆ ਕੋਟੁ ਗੜੈ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਜਾ ॥ਨੇਬ ਖਵਾਸ ਭਲਾ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ॥ |
kaaeiaa kott garrai mehi raajaa || naeb khavaas bhalaa dharavaajaa || |
In the strong fortress of the body with its beautiful doors, is the king, with his special assistants and ministers. |

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਲੋਭੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਲਬਿ ਪਾਪਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥ |
mithhiaa lobh naahee ghar vaasaa lab paap pashhuthaaeidhaa ||15|| |
Those gripped by falsehood and greed do not dwell in the celestial home; engrossed in greed and sin, they come to regret and repent. ||15|| |

ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਰੀ ॥ |
sath santhokh nagar mehi kaaree || |
Truth and contentment govern this body-village. |
|
ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ |
jath sath sanjam saran muraaree || |
Chastity, truth and self-control are in the Sanctuary of the Lord. |

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੪॥੧੬॥ |
naanak sehaj milai jagajeevan gur sabadhee path paaeidhaa ||16||4||16|| |
O Nanak, one intuitively meets the Lord, the Life of the World; the Word of the Guru's Shabad brings honor. ||16||4||16|| |

In the Primal Void, the Infinite Lord assumed His Power. |

ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਅਪਰ ਅਪਾਰੀ ॥ |
aap niraalam apar apaaree || |
He Himself is unattached, infinite and incomparable. |

ਆਪੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਸੁੰਨਹੁ ਸੁੰਨੁ ਉਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥ |
aapae kudharath kar kar dhaekhai sunnahu sunn oupaaeidhaa ||1|| |
He Himself exercised His Creative Power, and He gazes upon His creation; from the Primal Void, He formed the Void. ||1|| |

ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਸੁੰਨੈ ਤੇ ਸਾਜੇ ॥ |

From this Primal Void, He fashioned air and water. |

ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਕਾਇਆ ਗੜ ਰਾਜੇ ॥ |
srisatt oupaae kaaeiaa garr raajae || |
He created the universe, and the king in the fortress of the body. |

ਅਗਨਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਜੀਉ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਸੁੰਨੇ ਕਲਾ ਰਹਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥ |
agan paanee jeeo joth thumaaree sunnae kalaa rehaaeidhaa ||2|| |
Your Light pervades fire, water and souls; Your Power rests in the Primal Void. ||2|| |

ਸੁੰਨਹੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸੁ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ |
sunnahu brehamaa bisan mehaes oupaaeae || |
From this Primal Void, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva issued forth. |

ਸੁੰਨੇ ਵਰਤੇ ਜੁਗ ਸਬਾਏ ॥ |
sunnae varathae jug sabaaeae || |
This Primal Void is pervasive throughout all the ages. |
|
ਇਸੁ ਪਦ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥ |
eis padh veechaarae so jan pooraa this mileeai bharam chukaaeidhaa ||3|| |
That humble being who contemplates this state is perfect; meeting with him, doubt is dispelled. ||3|| |

ਸੁੰਨਹੁ ਸਪਤ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਥਾਪੇ ॥ |
sunnahu sapath sarovar thhaapae || |
From this Primal Void, the seven seas were established. |
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਆਪੇ ॥ |
jin saajae veechaarae aapae || |
The One who created them, Himself contemplates them. |
|
ਤਿਤੁ ਸਤ ਸਰਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥ |
thith sath sar manooaa guramukh naavai fir baahurr jon n paaeidhaa ||4|| |
That human being who becomes Gurmukh, who bathes in the pool of Truth, is not cast into the womb of reincarnation again. ||4|| |

ਸੁੰਨਹੁ ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਗੈਣਾਰੇ ॥ |
sunnahu chandh sooraj gainaarae || |
From this Primal Void, came the moon, the sun and the earth. |
|
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸਾਰੇ ॥ |
this kee joth thribhavan saarae || |
His Light pervades all the three worlds. |
|
ਸੁੰਨੇ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਸੁੰਨੇ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥ |
sunnae alakh apaar niraalam sunnae thaarree laaeidhaa ||5|| |
The Lord of this Primal Void is unseen, infinite and immaculate; He is absorbed in the Primal Trance of Deep Meditation. ||5|| |

ਸੁੰਨਹੁ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ |
sunnahu dhharath akaas oupaaeae || |
From this Primal Void, the earth and the Akaashic Ethers were created. |
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਥੰਮਾ ਰਾਖੇ ਸਚੁ ਕਲ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
bin thhanmaa raakhae sach kal paaeae || |
He supports them without any visible support, by exercising His True Power. |

ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸਾਜਿ ਮੇਖੁਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਖਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥ |
thribhavan saaj maekhulee maaeiaa aap oupaae khapaaeidhaa ||6|| |
He fashioned the three worlds, and the rope of Maya; He Himself creates and destroys. ||6|| |

ਸੁੰਨਹੁ ਖਾਣੀ ਸੁੰਨਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ |
sunnahu khaanee sunnahu baanee || |
From this Primal Void, came the four sources of creation, and the power of speech. |
|
ਸੁੰਨਹੁ ਉਪਜੀ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ |
sunnahu oupajee sunn samaanee || |
They were created from the Void, and they will merge into the Void. |
|
ਉਤਭੁਜੁ ਚਲਤੁ ਕੀਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਦੇਖਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥ |
outhabhuj chalath keeaa sir karathai bisamaadh sabadh dhaekhaaeidhaa ||7|| |
The Supreme Creator created the play of Nature; through the Word of His Shabad, He stages His Wondrous Show. ||7|| |

ਸੁੰਨਹੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਦੁਇ ਕੀਏ ॥ |
sunnahu raath dhinas dhue keeeae || |
From this Primal Void, He made both night and day; |

ਓਪਤਿ ਖਪਤਿ ਸੁਖਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੀਏ ॥ |
oupath khapath sukhaa dhukh dheeeae || |
creation and destruction, pleasure and pain. |
|
ਸੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਅਮਰੁ ਅਤੀਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਜ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥ |
sukh dhukh hee thae amar atheethaa guramukh nij ghar paaeidhaa ||8|| |
The Gurmukh is immortal, untouched by pleasure and pain. He obtains the home of his own inner being. ||8|| |
