| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਹੋਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥ |
| jaa kai keenhai hoth bikaar || |
| He gathers up that which brings corruption; |

| ਸੇ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੫॥ |
| sae shhodd chaliaa khin mehi gavaar ||5|| |
| leaving them, the fool must depart in an instant. ||5|| |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਭਰਮਿਆ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohi bahu bharamiaa || |
| He wanders in attachment to Maya. |
|
| ਕਿਰਤ ਰੇਖ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਮਿਆ ॥ |
| kirath raekh kar karamiaa || |
| He acts in accordance with the karma of his past actions. |
|
| ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਆਪਿ ॥ |
| karanaihaar alipath aap || |
| Only the Creator Himself remains detached. |
|
| ਨਹੀ ਲੇਪੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪਿ ॥੬॥ |
| nehee laep prabh punn paap ||6|| |
| God is not affected by virtue or vice. ||6|| |

| ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| raakh laehu gobindh dhaeiaal || |
| Please save me, O Merciful Lord of the Universe! |

| ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥ |
| thaeree saran pooran kirapaal || |
| I seek Your Sanctuary, O Perfect Compassionate Lord. |

| ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀ ਠਾਉ ॥ |
| thujh bin dhoojaa nehee thaao || |
| Without You, I have no other place of rest. |

| You are the Creator, and You are the Doer. |

| ਤੂ ਊਚਾ ਤੂ ਬਹੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ |
| thoo oochaa thoo bahu apaar || |
| You are High and Exalted, and You are totally Infinite. |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੜਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ |

| Please be merciful, and attach me to the hem of Your robe. |

| Meditate on the Lord's Name, and blossom forth in green abundance. |

| ਕਰਮਿ ਲਿਖੰਤੈ ਪਾਈਐ ਇਹ ਰੁਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥ |
| karam likhanthai paaeeai eih ruth suhaaee || |
| By your high destiny, you have been blessed with this wondrous spring of the soul. |

| ਵਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| van thrin thribhavan mouliaa anmrith fal paaee || |
| See all the three worlds in bloom, and obtain the Fruit of Ambrosial Nectar. |

| ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਲਥੀ ਸਭ ਛਾਈ ॥ |
| mil saadhhoo sukh oopajai lathhee sabh shhaaee || |
| Meeting with the Holy Saints, peace wells up, and all sins are erased. |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਈ ॥੧॥ |

| O Nanak, remember in meditation the One Name, and you shall never again be consigned to the womb of reincarnation.. ||1|| |

| ਪੰਜੇ ਬਧੇ ਮਹਾਬਲੀ ਕਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਢੋਆ ॥ |
| panjae badhhae mehaabalee kar sachaa dtoaa || |
| The five powerful desires are bound down, when you lean on the True Lord. |
|
| ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਣ ਜਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਦਯੁ ਖੜੋਆ ॥ |
| aapanae charan japaaeian vich dhay kharroaa || |
| The Lord Himself leads us to dwell at His Feet. He stands right in our midst. |

| ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਨਿਤ ਨਵਾ ਨਿਰੋਆ ॥ |
| rog sog sabh mitt geae nith navaa niroaa || |
| All sorrows and sicknesses are eradicated, and you become ever-fresh and rejuvenated. |

| ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਾਇ ਨ ਮੋਆ ॥ |
| dhin rain naam dhhiaaeidhaa fir paae n moaa || |
| Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. You shall never again die. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸੋਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਆ ॥੨॥ |
| jis thae oupajiaa naanakaa soee fir hoaa ||2|| |
| And the One, from whom we came, O Nanak, into Him we merge once again. ||2|| |

| ਕਿਥਹੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਕਹ ਰਹੈ ਕਹ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥ |
| kithhahu oupajai keh rehai keh maahi samaavai || |
| Where do we come from? Where do we live? Where do we go in the end? |
|
| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਖਸਮ ਕੇ ਕਉਣੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
| jeea janth sabh khasam kae koun keemath paavai || |
| All creatures belong to God, our Lord and Master. Who can place a value on Him? |
|
| ਕਹਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸੁਣਨਿ ਨਿਤ ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥ |
| kehan dhhiaaein sunan nith sae bhagath suhaavai || |
| Those who meditate, listen and chant, those devotees are blessed and beautified. |
|
| ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੋ ਦੂਸਰੁ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ |
| agam agochar saahibo dhoosar lavai n laavai || |
| The Lord God is Inaccessible and Unfathomable; there is no other equal to Him. |

| ਸਚੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥੩॥੧॥ |

| ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਆਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥ |
| ghatt ghatt mouliaa aatham pragaas ||1|| |
| Each and every heart has blossomed forth, and the soul is illumined. ||1|| |

| My Sovereign Lord King blossoms forth in countless ways. |

| Wherever I look, I see Him there pervading. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਦੁਤੀਆ ਮਉਲੇ ਚਾਰਿ ਬੇਦ ॥ |
| dhutheeaa moulae chaar baedh || |
| The four Vedas blossom forth in duality. |
|
| ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਮਉਲੀ ਸਿਉ ਕਤੇਬ ॥੨॥ |
| sinmrith moulee sio kathaeb ||2|| |
| The Simritees blossom forth, along with the Koran and the Bible. ||2|| |
|
| ਸੰਕਰੁ ਮਉਲਿਓ ਜੋਗ ਧਿਆਨ ॥ |
| sankar mouliou jog dhhiaan || |
| Shiva blossoms forth in Yoga and meditation. |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਭ ਸਮਾਨ ॥੩॥੧॥ |

| Kabeer's Lord and Master pervades in all alike. ||3||1|| |

| The Pandits, the Hindu religious scholars, are intoxicated, reading the Puraanas. |

| ਜੋਗੀ ਮਾਤੇ ਜੋਗ ਧਿਆਨ ॥ |
| jogee maathae jog dhhiaan || |
| The Yogis are intoxicated in Yoga and meditation. |
|
| ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਮਾਤੇ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ॥ |
| sanniaasee maathae ahanmaev || |
| The Sannyaasees are intoxicated in egotism. |
|
| ਤਪਸੀ ਮਾਤੇ ਤਪ ਕੈ ਭੇਵ ॥੧॥ |
| thapasee maathae thap kai bhaev ||1|| |
| The penitents are intoxicated with the mystery of penance. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਭ ਮਦ ਮਾਤੇ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਜਾਗ ॥ |
| sabh madh maathae kooo n jaag || |
| All are intoxicated with the wine of Maya; no one is awake and aware. |
|
| ਸੰਗ ਹੀ ਚੋਰ ਘਰੁ ਮੁਸਨ ਲਾਗ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| The thieves are with them, plundering their homes. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਾਗੈ ਸੁਕਦੇਉ ਅਰੁ ਅਕੂਰੁ ॥ |
