| ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਕੀ ਤਿਉ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੧੪੧॥ |
| jio jio bhagath kabeer kee thio thio raam nivaas ||141|| |
| The more Kabeer worships Him, the more the Lord abides within his mind. ||141|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਗਹਗਚਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਕੈ ਕਾਂਠੈ ਰਹਿ ਗਇਓ ਰਾਮੁ ॥ |
| kabeer gehagach pariou kuttanb kai kaanthai rehi gaeiou raam || |
| Kabeer, the mortal has fallen into the grip of family life, and the Lord has been set aside. |

| ਆਇ ਪਰੇ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੇ ਬੀਚਹਿ ਧੂਮਾ ਧਾਮ ॥੧੪੨॥ |
| aae parae dhharam raae kae beechehi dhhoomaa dhhaam ||142|| |
| The messengers of the Righteous Judge of Dharma descend upon the mortal, in the midst of all his pomp and ceremony. ||142|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਸਾਕਤ ਤੇ ਸੂਕਰ ਭਲਾ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਛਾ ਗਾਉ ॥ |
| kabeer saakath thae sookar bhalaa raakhai aashhaa gaao || |
| Kabeer, even a pig is better than the faithless cynic; at least the pig keeps the village clean. |

| ਉਹੁ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਮਰਿ ਗਇਆ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਲੈਹੈ ਨਾਉ ॥੧੪੩॥ |
| ouhu saakath bapuraa mar gaeiaa koe n laihai naao ||143|| |
| When the wretched, faithless cynic dies, no one even mentions his name. ||143|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਕਉਡੀ ਕਉਡੀ ਜੋਰਿ ਕੈ ਜੋਰੇ ਲਾਖ ਕਰੋਰਿ ॥ |
| kabeer kouddee kouddee jor kai jorae laakh karor || |
| Kabeer, the mortal gathers wealth, shell by shell, accumulating thousands and millions. |

| ਚਲਤੀ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਕਛੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਲਈ ਲੰਗੋਟੀ ਤੋਰਿ ॥੧੪੪॥ |
| chalathee baar n kashh miliou lee langottee thor ||144|| |
| But when the time of his departure comes, he takes nothing at all with him. He is even stripped of his loin-cloth. ||144|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਹੂਆ ਤ ਕਿਆ ਭਇਆ ਮਾਲਾ ਮੇਲੀਂ ਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
| kabeer baisano hooaa th kiaa bhaeiaa maalaa maeleen chaar || |
| Kabeer, what good is it to become a devotee of Vishnu, and wear four malas? |

| ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਬਾਰਹਾ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਭਰੀ ਭੰਗਾਰ ॥੧੪੫॥ |
| baahar kanchan baarehaa bheethar bharee bhangaar ||145|| |
| On the outside, he may look like pure gold, but on the inside, he is stuffed with dust. ||145|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰ ਰੋੜਾ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੁ ਬਾਟ ਕਾ ਤਜਿ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| kabeer rorraa hoe rahu baatt kaa thaj man kaa abhimaan || |
| Kabeer, let yourself be a pebble on the path; abandon your egotistical pride. |

| ਐਸਾ ਕੋਈ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਤਾਹਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੧੪੬॥ |
| aisaa koee dhaas hoe thaahi milai bhagavaan ||146|| |
| Such a humble slave shall meet the Lord God. ||146|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰ ਰੋੜਾ ਹੂਆ ਤ ਕਿਆ ਭਇਆ ਪੰਥੀ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ |
| kabeer rorraa hooaa th kiaa bhaeiaa panthhee ko dhukh dhaee || |
| Kabeer, what good would it be, to be a pebble? It would only hurt the traveller on the path. |

| ਐਸਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਉ ਧਰਨੀ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਹ ॥੧੪੭॥ |
| aisaa thaeraa dhaas hai jio dhharanee mehi khaeh ||147|| |
| Your slave, O Lord, is like the dust of the earth. ||147|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰ ਖੇਹ ਹੂਈ ਤਉ ਕਿਆ ਭਇਆ ਜਉ ਉਡਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਅੰਗ ॥ |
| kabeer khaeh hooee tho kiaa bhaeiaa jo oudd laagai ang || |
| Kabeer, what then, if one could become dust? It is blown up by the wind, and sticks to the body. |

| ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਐਸਾ ਚਾਹੀਐ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਨੀ ਸਰਬੰਗ ॥੧੪੮॥ |
| har jan aisaa chaaheeai jio paanee sarabang ||148|| |
| The humble servant of the Lord should be like water, which cleans everything. ||148|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰ ਪਾਨੀ ਹੂਆ ਤ ਕਿਆ ਭਇਆ ਸੀਰਾ ਤਾਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| kabeer paanee hooaa th kiaa bhaeiaa seeraa thaathaa hoe || |
| Kabeer, what then, if one could become water? It becomes cold, then hot. |
 |
| ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਐਸਾ ਚਾਹੀਐ ਜੈਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਹੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੧੪੯॥ |
| har jan aisaa chaaheeai jaisaa har hee hoe ||149|| |
| The humble servant of the Lord should be just like the Lord. ||149|| |
 |
| ਊਚ ਭਵਨ ਕਨਕਾਮਨੀ ਸਿਖਰਿ ਧਜਾ ਫਹਰਾਇ ॥ |
| ooch bhavan kanakaamanee sikhar dhhajaa feharaae || |
| The banners wave above the lofty mansions, filled with gold and beautiful women. |
 |
| ਤਾ ਤੇ ਭਲੀ ਮਧੂਕਰੀ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧੫੦॥ |
| thaa thae bhalee madhhookaree santhasang gun gaae ||150|| |
| But better than these is dry bread, if one sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord in the Society of the Saints. ||150|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਪਾਟਨ ਤੇ ਊਜਰੁ ਭਲਾ ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤ ਜਿਹ ਠਾਇ ॥ |
| kabeer paattan thae oojar bhalaa raam bhagath jih thaae || |
| Kabeer, the wilderness is better than a city, if the Lord's devotees live there. |
 |
| ਰਾਮ ਸਨੇਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਜਮ ਪੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਂਇ ॥੧੫੧॥ |
| raam sanaehee baaharaa jam pur maerae bhaane ||151|| |
| Without my Beloved Lord, it is like the City of Death for me. ||151|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰ ਗੰਗ ਜਮੁਨ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰੇ ਸਹਜ ਸੁੰਨ ਕੇ ਘਾਟ ॥ |
| kabeer gang jamun kae antharae sehaj sunn kae ghaatt || |
| Kabeer, between the Ganges and Jamunaa Rivers, on the shore of Celestial Silence, |

| ਤਹਾ ਕਬੀਰੈ ਮਟੁ ਕੀਆ ਖੋਜਤ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਬਾਟ ॥੧੫੨॥ |
| thehaa kabeerai matt keeaa khojath mun jan baatt ||152|| |
| there, Kabeer has made his home. The silent sages and the humble servants of the Lord search for the way to get there. ||152|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰ ਜੈਸੀ ਉਪਜੀ ਪੇਡ ਤੇ ਜਉ ਤੈਸੀ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਓੜਿ ॥ |
| kabeer jaisee oupajee paedd thae jo thaisee nibehai ourr || |
| Kabeer, if the mortal continues to love the Lord in the end, as he pledged in the beginning, |

| ਹੀਰਾ ਕਿਸ ਕਾ ਬਾਪੁਰਾ ਪੁਜਹਿ ਨ ਰਤਨ ਕਰੋੜਿ ॥੧੫੩॥ |
| heeraa kis kaa baapuraa pujehi n rathan karorr ||153|| |
| no poor diamond, not even millions of jewels, can equal him. ||153|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਅਚੰਭਉ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਹੀਰਾ ਹਾਟ ਬਿਕਾਇ ॥ |
| kabeeraa eaek achanbho dhaekhiou heeraa haatt bikaae || |
| Kabeer, I saw a strange and wonderful thing. A jewel was being sold in a store. |
 |
| ਬਨਜਨਹਾਰੇ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੫੪॥ |
| banajanehaarae baaharaa kouddee badhalai jaae ||154|| |
| Because there was no buyer, it was going in exchange for a shell. ||154|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰਾ ਜਹਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਤਹ ਧਰਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਹਾ ਝੂਠੁ ਤਹ ਪਾਪੁ ॥ |
| kabeeraa jehaa giaan theh dhharam hai jehaa jhooth theh paap || |
| Kabeer, where there is spiritual wisdom, there is righteousness and Dharma. Where there is falsehood, there is sin. |
 |
| ਜਹਾ ਲੋਭੁ ਤਹ ਕਾਲੁ ਹੈ ਜਹਾ ਖਿਮਾ ਤਹ ਆਪਿ ॥੧੫੫॥ |
| jehaa lobh theh kaal hai jehaa khimaa theh aap ||155|| |
| Where there is greed, there is death. Where there is forgiveness, there is God Himself. ||155|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਜੀ ਤ ਕਿਆ ਭਇਆ ਜਉ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਜਿਆ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| kabeer maaeiaa thajee th kiaa bhaeiaa jo maan thajiaa nehee jaae || |
| Kabeer, what good is it to give up Maya, if the mortal does not give up his pride? |
 |
| ਮਾਨ ਮੁਨੀ ਮੁਨਿਵਰ ਗਲੇ ਮਾਨੁ ਸਭੈ ਕਉ ਖਾਇ ॥੧੫੬॥ |
| maan munee munivar galae maan sabhai ko khaae ||156|| |
| Even the silent sages and seers are destroyed by pride; pride eats up everything. ||156|| |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਬਦੁ ਜੁ ਬਾਹਿਆ ਏਕੁ ॥ |
| kabeer saachaa sathigur mai miliaa sabadh j baahiaa eaek || |
| Kabeer, the True Guru has met me; He aimed the Arrow of the Shabad at me. |

| ਲਾਗਤ ਹੀ ਭੁਇ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਰਿਆ ਕਲੇਜੇ ਛੇਕੁ ॥੧੫੭॥ |
| laagath hee bhue mil gaeiaa pariaa kalaejae shhaek ||157|| |
| As soon as it struck me, I fell to the ground with a hole in my heart. ||157|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ ਜਉ ਸਿਖਾ ਮਹਿ ਚੂਕ ॥ |
| kabeer saachaa sathigur kiaa karai jo sikhaa mehi chook || |
| Kabeer, what can the True Guru do, when His Sikhs are at fault? |

| ਅੰਧੇ ਏਕ ਨ ਲਾਗਈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਂਸੁ ਬਜਾਈਐ ਫੂਕ ॥੧੫੮॥ |
| andhhae eaek n laagee jio baans bajaaeeai fook ||158|| |
| The blind do not take in any of His Teachings; it is as useless as blowing into bamboo. ||158|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਹੈ ਗੈ ਬਾਹਨ ਸਘਨ ਘਨ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤੀ ਕੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ |
| kabeer hai gai baahan saghan ghan shhathrapathee kee naar || |
| Kabeer, the wife of the king has all sorts of horses, elephants and carriages. |
