| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਮਨਹੁ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ॥ |
| har har kabehoo n manahu bisaarae || |
| Never forget the Lord, Har, Har, from your mind. |
|
| ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| eehaa oohaa sarab sukhadhaathaa sagal ghattaa prathipaarae ||1|| rehaao || |
| Here and hereafter, He is the Giver of all peace. He is the Cherisher of all hearts. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮਹਾ ਕਸਟ ਕਾਟੈ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ॥ |
| mehaa kasatt kaattai khin bheethar rasanaa naam chithaarae || |
| He removes the most terrible pains in an instant, if the tongue repeats His Name. |

| ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੂਖ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣੀ ਜਲਤੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ |
| seethal saanth sookh har saranee jalathee agan nivaarae ||1|| |
| In the Lord's Sanctuary there is soothing coolness, peace and tranquility. He has extinguished the burning fire. ||1|| |
|
| ਗਰਭ ਕੁੰਡ ਨਰਕ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥ |
| garabh kundd narak thae raakhai bhavajal paar outhaarae || |
| He saves us from the hellish pit of the womb, and carries us across the terrifying world-ocean. |

| ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਆਰਾਧਤ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਬਿਦਾਰੇ ॥੨॥ |
| charan kamal aaraadhhath man mehi jam kee thraas bidhaarae ||2|| |
| Adoring His Lotus Feet in the mind, the fear of death is banished. ||2|| |
|
| ਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥ |

| He is the Perfect, Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, lofty, unfathomable and infinite. |

| ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਧਿਆਵਤ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਜੂਏ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹਾਰੇ ॥੩॥ |
| gun gaavath dhhiaavath sukh saagar jooeae janam n haarae ||3|| |
| Singing His Glorious Praises, and meditating on the Ocean of peace, one's life is not lost in the gamble. ||3|| |

| ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨੋ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਕੇ ਦਾਤਾਰੇ ॥ |
| kaam krodhh lobh mohi man leeno niragun kae dhaathaarae || |
| My mind is engrossed in sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment, O Giver to the unworthy. |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੩੮॥ |
| kar kirapaa apuno naam dheejai naanak sadh balihaarae ||4||1||138|| |
| Please grant Your Grace, and bless me with Your Name; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to You. ||4||1||138|| |

| There is no peace without devotional worship of the Lord. |

| ਜੀਤਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਇਹੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਪਿ ਇਕ ਖਿਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jeeth janam eihu rathan amolak saadhhasangath jap eik khinaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| Be victorious, and win the priceless jewel of this human life, by meditating on Him in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, even for an instant. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸੁਤ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਬਿਨੋਦ ॥ਛੋਡਿ ਗਏ ਬਹੁ ਲੋਗ ਭੋਗ ॥੧॥ |

| Many have renounced and left their children, wealth, spouses, joyful games and pleasures. ||1|| |

| ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਰਾਜ ਰੰਗ ॥ |
| haivar gaivar raaj rang || |
| Horses, elephants and the pleasures of power |
|
| ਤਿਆਗਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਹੈ ਮੂੜ ਨੰਗ ॥੨॥ |
| thiaag chaliou hai moorr nang ||2|| |
| - leaving these behind, the fool must depart naked. ||2|| |
|
| ਚੋਆ ਚੰਦਨ ਦੇਹ ਫੂਲਿਆ ॥ |
| choaa chandhan dhaeh fooliaa || |
| The body, scented with musk and sandalwood |
|
| ਸੋ ਤਨੁ ਧਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਰੂਲਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| so than dhhar sang rooliaa ||3|| |
| - that body shall come to roll in the dust. ||3|| |
|
| ਮੋਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਜਾਨੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ॥ |
| mohi mohiaa jaanai dhoor hai || |
| Infatuated with emotional attachment, they think that God is far away. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੩੯॥ |

| O mind, cross over with the Support of the Lord's Name. |

| ਸਾਗਰ ਲਹਰਿ ਸੰਸਾ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਪਾਰ ਗਰਾਮਨੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| saagar lehar sansaa sansaar gur bohithh paar garaamano ||1|| rehaao || |
| The Guru is the boat to carry you across the world-ocean, through the waves of cynicism and doubt. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਕਲਿ ਕਾਲਖ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੀਆ ॥ |

| In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, there is only pitch darkness. |

| ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਪਕ ਉਜਿਆਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ |

| The lamp of the Guru's spiritual wisdom illuminates and enlightens. ||1|| |

| ਬਿਖੁ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਪਸਰੀ ਅਤਿ ਘਨੀ ॥ |
| bikh bikhiaa pasaree ath ghanee || |
| The poison of corruption is spread out far and wide. |
|
| ਉਬਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨੀ ॥੨॥ |
| oubarae jap jap har gunee ||2|| |
| Only the virtuous are saved, chanting and meditating on the Lord. ||2|| |
|
| ਮਤਵਾਰੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੋਇਆ ॥ |
| mathavaaro maaeiaa soeiaa || |
| Intoxicated with Maya, the people are asleep. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਖੋਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| gur bhaettath bhram bho khoeiaa ||3|| |
| Meeting the Guru, doubt and fear are dispelled. ||3|| |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ |
| kahu naanak eaek dhhiaaeiaa || |
| Says Nanak, meditate on the One Lord; |
|
| ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੪੦॥ |

| You alone are my Chief Advisor. |

| ਸੇਵਾ ਥਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਟੇਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| saevaa thhaaree gurehi ttaek ||1|| rehaao || |
| I serve You with the Support of the Guru. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| anik jugath nehee paaeiaa || |
| By various devices, I could not find You. |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਚਾਕਰ ਲੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ |
| gur chaakar lai laaeiaa ||1|| |
| Taking hold of me, the Guru has made me Your slave. ||1|| |

| ਮਾਰੇ ਪੰਚ ਬਿਖਾਦੀਆ ॥ |
| maarae panch bikhaadheeaa || |
| I have conquered the five tyrants. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਦਲੁ ਸਾਧਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
| gur kirapaa thae dhal saadhhiaa ||2|| |
| By Guru's Grace, I have vanquished the army of evil. ||2|| |
|
| ਬਖਸੀਸ ਵਜਹੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮ ॥ |
| bakhasees vajahu mil eaek naam || |
| I have received the One Name as His bounty and blessing. |
|
| ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥ |

| Now, I dwell in peace, poise and bliss. ||3|| |
