ਯਯਾ ਜਾਰਉ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੋਊ ॥ |
yayaa jaaro dhuramath dhooo || |
YAYYA: Burn away duality and evil-mindedness. |
|
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋਊ ॥ |
thisehi thiaag sukh sehajae sooo || |
Give them up, and sleep in intuitive peace and poise. |
|
ਯਯਾ ਜਾਇ ਪਰਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਨਾ ॥ |
yayaa jaae parahu santh saranaa || |
Yaya: Go, and seek the Sanctuary of the Saints; |
|
ਜਿਹ ਆਸਰ ਇਆ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰਨਾ ॥ |
jih aasar eiaa bhavajal tharanaa || |
with their help, you shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean. |

ਯਯਾ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੋਊ ॥ਏਕ ਨਾਮ ਲੇ ਮਨਹਿ ਪਰੋਊ ॥ |
yayaa janam n aavai sooo || eaek naam lae manehi parooo || |
Yaya: One who weaves the One Name into his heart, does not have to take birth again. |

ਯਯਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹਾਰੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ॥ |
yayaa janam n haareeai gur poorae kee ttaek || |
Yaya: This human life shall not be wasted, if you take the Support of the Perfect Guru. |

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਏਕ ॥੧੪॥ |
naanak thih sukh paaeiaa jaa kai heearai eaek ||14|| |
O Nanak, one whose heart is filled with the One Lord finds peace. ||14|| |

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਬਸਿ ਰਹੇ ਈਤ ਊਤ ਕੇ ਮੀਤ ॥ |
anthar man than bas rehae eeth ooth kae meeth || |
The One who dwells deep within the mind and body is your friend here and hereafter. |

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪੀਐ ਨੀਤ ॥੧॥ |
gur poorai oupadhaesiaa naanak japeeai neeth ||1|| |
The Perfect Guru has taught me, O Nanak, to chant His Name continually. ||1|| |

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਤਾਸੁ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
anadhin simarahu thaas ko jo anth sehaaee hoe || |
Night and day, meditate in remembrance on the One who will be your Help and Support in the end. |

ਇਹ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਛਿਅ ਛਾਡਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
eih bikhiaa dhin chaar shhia shhaadd chaliou sabh koe || |
This poison shall last for only a few days; everyone must depart, and leave it behind. |

ਕਾ ਕੋ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਧੀਆ ॥ |
kaa ko maath pithaa suth dhheeaa || |
Who is our mother, father, son and daughter? |
|
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਲੀਆ ॥ |
grih banithaa kashh sang n leeaa || |
Household, wife, and other things shall not go along with you. |
|
ਐਸੀ ਸੰਚਿ ਜੁ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
aisee sanch j binasath naahee || |
So gather that wealth which shall never perish, |
|
ਪਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਹੀ ॥ |
path saethee apunai ghar jaahee || |
so that you may go to your true home with honor. |
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਲਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ |
saadhhasang kal keerathan gaaeiaa || |
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, those who sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy |

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥੧੫॥ |
naanak thae thae bahur n aaeiaa ||15|| |
- O Nanak, they do not have to endure reincarnation again. ||15|| |

ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕੁਲੀਨ ਚਤੁਰ ਮੁਖਿ ਙਿਆਨੀ ਧਨਵੰਤ ॥ |
ath sundhar kuleen chathur mukh n(g)iaanee dhhanavanth || |
He may be very handsome, born into a highly respected family, very wise, a famous spiritual teacher, prosperous and wealthy; |

ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੧॥ |
mirathak keheeahi naanakaa jih preeth nehee bhagavanth ||1|| |
but even so, he is looked upon as a corpse, O Nanak, if he does not love the Lord God. ||1|| |

ਙੰਙਾ ਖਟੁ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਇ ਙਿਆਤਾ ॥ |
n(g)ann(g)aa khatt saasathr hoe n(g)iaathaa || |
NGANGA: He may be a scholar of the six Shaastras. |
|
ਪੂਰਕੁ ਕੁੰਭਕ ਰੇਚਕ ਕਰਮਾਤਾ ॥ |
poorak kunbhak raechak karamaathaa || |
He may practice inhaling, exhaling and holding the breath. |
|
ਙਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ॥ |
n(g)iaan dhhiaan theerathh eisanaanee || |
He may practice spiritual wisdom, meditation, pilgrimages to sacred shrines and ritual cleansing baths. |
|
ਸੋਮਪਾਕ ਅਪਰਸ ਉਦਿਆਨੀ ॥ |
somapaak aparas oudhiaanee || |
He may cook his own food, and never touch anyone else's; he may live in the wilderness like a hermit. |
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਹੇਤਾ ॥ |
raam naam sang man nehee haethaa || |
But if he does not enshrine love for the Lord's Name within his heart, |
|
ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੋਊ ਅਨੇਤਾ ॥ |
jo kashh keeno sooo anaethaa || |
then everything he does is transitory. |
|
ਉਆ ਤੇ ਊਤਮੁ ਗਨਉ ਚੰਡਾਲਾ ॥ |
ouaa thae ootham gano chanddaalaa || |
Even an untouchable pariah is superior to him, |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਹ ਮਨਿ ਬਸਹਿ ਗੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੧੬॥ |
naanak jih man basehi gupaalaa ||16|| |
O Nanak, if the Lord of the World abides in his mind. ||16|| |

ਕੁੰਟ ਚਾਰਿ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕੀ ਰੇਖ ॥ |
kuntt chaar dheh dhis bhramae karam kirath kee raekh || |
He wanders around in the four quarters and in the ten directions, according to the dictates of his karma. |

ਸੂਖ ਦੂਖ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਓ ਲੇਖ ॥੧॥ |
sookh dhookh mukath jon naanak likhiou laekh ||1|| |
Pleasure and pain, liberation and reincarnation, O Nanak, come according to one's pre-ordained destiny. ||1|| |

ਕਕਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਊ ॥ |
kakaa kaaran karathaa sooo || |
KAKKA: He is the Creator, the Cause of causes. |

ਲਿਖਿਓ ਲੇਖੁ ਨ ਮੇਟਤ ਕੋਊ ॥ |
likhiou laekh n maettath kooo || |
No one can erase His pre-ordained plan. |
|
ਨਹੀ ਹੋਤ ਕਛੁ ਦੋਊ ਬਾਰਾ ॥ |
nehee hoth kashh dhooo baaraa || |
Nothing can be done a second time. |
|
ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੁ ਨ ਭੂਲਨਹਾਰਾ ॥ |
karanaihaar n bhoolanehaaraa || |
The Creator Lord does not make mistakes. |
|
ਕਾਹੂ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਿਖਾਰੈ ਆਪੈ ॥ |
kaahoo panthh dhikhaarai aapai || |
To some, He Himself shows the Way. |
|
ਕਾਹੂ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਪਛੁਤਾਪੈ ॥ |
kaahoo oudhiaan bhramath pashhuthaapai || |
While He causes others to wander miserably in the wilderness. |
|
ਆਪਨ ਖੇਲੁ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੀਨੋ ॥ |
aapan khael aap hee keeno || |
He Himself has set His own play in motion. |
|
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦੀਨੋ ਸੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੀਨੋ ॥੧੭॥ |
jo jo dheeno s naanak leeno ||17|| |
Whatever He gives, O Nanak, that is what we receive. ||17|| |

ਖਾਤ ਖਰਚਤ ਬਿਲਛਤ ਰਹੇ ਟੂਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥ |
khaath kharachath bilashhath rehae ttoott n jaahi bhanddaar || |
People continue to eat and consume and enjoy, but the Lord's warehouses are never exhausted. |

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤ ਅਨੇਕ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਹਿ ਸੁਮਾਰ ॥੧॥ |
har har japath anaek jan naanak naahi sumaar ||1|| |
So many chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; O Nanak, they cannot be counted. ||1|| |

ਖਖਾ ਖੂਨਾ ਕਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥ ਕੈ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ |
khakhaa khoonaa kashh nehee this sanmrathh kai paahi || |
KHAKHA: The All-powerful Lord lacks nothing; |
|
ਜੋ ਦੇਨਾ ਸੋ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਓ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ |
jo dhaenaa so dhae rehiou bhaavai theh theh jaahi || |
whatever He is to give, He continues to give - let anyone go anywhere he pleases. |

ਖਰਚੁ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਇਆ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
kharach khajaanaa naam dhhan eiaa bhagathan kee raas || |
The wealth of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is a treasure to spend; it is the capital of His devotees. |

ਖਿਮਾ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਅਨਦ ਸਹਜ ਜਪਤ ਰਹਹਿ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥ |
khimaa gareebee anadh sehaj japath rehehi gunathaas || |
With tolerance, humility, bliss and intuitive poise, they continue to meditate on the Lord, the Treasure of excellence. |
|
ਖੇਲਹਿ ਬਿਗਸਹਿ ਅਨਦ ਸਿਉ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਹੋਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥ |
khaelehi bigasehi anadh sio jaa ko hoth kirapaal || |
Those, unto whom the Lord shows His Mercy, play happily and blossom forth. |
|
ਸਦੀਵ ਗਨੀਵ ਸੁਹਾਵਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮਾਲ ॥ |
sadheev ganeev suhaavanae raam naam grihi maal || |
Those who have the wealth of the Lord's Name in their homes are forever wealthy and beautiful. |

ਖੇਦੁ ਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਡਾਨੁ ਤਿਹ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੀ ॥ |
khaedh n dhookh n ddaan thih jaa ko nadhar karee || |
Those who are blessed with the Lord's Glance of Grace suffer neither torture, nor pain, nor punishment. |
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਿਆ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਪਰੀ ॥੧੮॥ |
naanak jo prabh bhaaniaa pooree thinaa paree ||18|| |
O Nanak, those who are pleasing to God become perfectly successful. ||18|| |
