| ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਜੋ ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਰਤੈ ॥ |
| thoo karathaa sabh kishh jaanadhaa jo jeeaa andhar varathai || |
| You, O Creator, know everything which occurs within our beings. |
|
| ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਅਗਣਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਗਣਤੈ ॥ |
| thoo karathaa aap aganath hai sabh jag vich ganathai || |
| You Yourself, O Creator, are incalculable, while the entire world is within the realm of calculation. |

| ਸਭੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਣਤੈ ॥ |
| sabh keethaa thaeraa varathadhaa sabh thaeree banathai || |
| Everything happens according to Your Will; You created all. |

| ਤੂ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਚਲਤੈ ॥ |
| thoo ghatt ghatt eik varathadhaa sach saahib chalathai || |
| You are the One, pervading in each and every heart; O True Lord and Master, this is Your play. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਪਰਤੈ ॥੨੪॥ |
| sathigur no milae s har milae naahee kisai parathai ||24|| |
| One who meets the True Guru meets the Lord; no one can turn him away. ||24|| |

| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਰਖੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈਐ ਚਿਤੁ ॥ |
| eihu manooaa dhrirr kar rakheeai guramukh laaeeai chith || |
| Hold this mind steady and stable; become Gurmukh and focus your consciousness. |

| ਕਿਉ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਉਠਦਿਆ ਨਿਤ ॥ |
| kio saas giraas visaareeai behadhiaa outhadhiaa nith || |
| How could you ever forget Him, with each breath and morsel of food, sitting down or standing up? |
|
| ਮਰਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਗਈ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵਸਿ ॥ |
| maran jeevan kee chinthaa gee eihu jeearraa har prabh vas || |
| My anxiety about birth and death has ended; this soul is under the control of the Lord God. |

| ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੁ ਤੂ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਖਸਿ ॥੧॥ |
| jio bhaavai thio rakh thoo jan naanak naam bakhas ||1|| |
| If it pleases You, then save servant Nanak, and bless him with Your Name. ||1|| |

| ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਪੀਛੈ ॥ |
| manamukh ahankaaree mehal n jaanai khin aagai khin peeshhai || |
| The egotistical self-willed manmukh does not know the Mansion of the Lord's Presence; one moment he is here and the next moment he is there. |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਬੁਲਾਈਐ ਮਹਲਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੀਝੈ ॥ |
| sadhaa bulaaeeai mehal n aavai kio kar dharageh seejhai || |
| He is always invited, but he does not go to the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. How shall he be accepted in the Court of the Lord? |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ॥ |
| sathigur kaa mehal viralaa jaanai sadhaa rehai kar jorr || |
| How rare are those who know the Mansion of the True Guru; they stand with their palms pressed together. |
|
| ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਏ ਬਹੋੜਿ ॥੨॥ |
| aapanee kirapaa karae har maeraa naanak leae behorr ||2|| |
| If my Lord grants His Grace, O Nanak, He restores them to Himself. ||2|| |

| ਸਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਨੇ ॥ |
| saa saevaa keethee safal hai jith sathigur kaa man mannae || |
| Fruitful and rewarding is that service, which is pleasing to the Guru's Mind. |
|
| ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਸੰਮਲ ਭੰਨੇ ॥ |
| jaa sathigur kaa man manniaa thaa paap kasanmal bhannae || |
| When the Mind of the True Guru is pleased, then sins and misdeeds run away. |
|
| ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਜਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੋ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਸਿਖੀ ਕੰਨੇ ॥ |
| oupadhaes j dhithaa sathiguroo so suniaa sikhee kannae || |
| The Sikhs listen to the Teachings imparted by the True Guru. |
|
| ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਚੜੀ ਚਵਗਣਿ ਵੰਨੇ ॥ |
| jin sathigur kaa bhaanaa manniaa thin charree chavagan vannae || |
| Those who surrender to the True Guru's Will are imbued with the four-fold Love of the Lord. |
|
| ਇਹ ਚਾਲ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਭਿੰਨੇ ॥੨੫॥ |
| eih chaal niraalee guramukhee gur dheekhiaa sun man bhinnae ||25|| |
| This is the unique and distinct life-style of the Gurmukhs: listening to the Guru's Teachings, their minds blossom forth. ||25|| |

|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥ |
| jin gur gopiaa aapanaa this thour n thaao || |
| Those who do not affirm their Guru shall have no home or place of rest. |
|
| ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਦੋਵੈ ਗਏ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥ |
| halath palath dhovai geae dharageh naahee thhaao || |
| They lose both this world and the next; they have no place in the Court of the Lord. |
|
| ਓਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਗਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| ouh vaelaa hathh n aavee fir sathigur lagehi paae || |
| This opportunity to bow at the Feet of the True Guru shall never come again. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਣਤੈ ਘੁਸੀਐ ਦੁਖੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ |
| sathigur kee ganathai ghuseeai dhukhae dhukh vihaae || |
| If they miss out on being counted by the True Guru, they shall pass their lives in pain and misery. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| sathigur purakh niravair hai aapae leae jis laae || |
| The True Guru, the Primal Being, has no hatred or vengeance; He unites with Himself those with whom He is pleased. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਵੇਖਾਲਿਓਨੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak dharasan jinaa vaekhaalioun thinaa dharageh leae shhaddaae ||1|| |
| O Nanak, those who behold the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, are emancipated in the Court of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ |
| manamukh agiaan dhuramath ahankaaree || |
| The self-willed manmukh is ignorant, evil-minded and egotistical. |
|
| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਜੂਐ ਮਤਿ ਹਾਰੀ ॥ |
| anthar krodhh jooai math haaree || |
| He is filled with anger within, and he loses his mind in the gamble. |
|
| ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਓਹੁ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ |
| koorr kusath ouhu paap kamaavai || |
| He commits the sins of fraud and unrighteousness. |
|
| ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਕਿਆ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥ |
| kiaa ouhu sunai kiaa aakh sunaavai || |
| What can he hear, and what can he tell others? |
|
| ਅੰਨਾ ਬੋਲਾ ਖੁਇ ਉਝੜਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| annaa bolaa khue oujharr paae || |
| He is blind and deaf; he loses his way, and wanders lost in the wilderness. |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| manamukh andhhaa aavai jaae || |
| The blind, self-willed manmukh comes and goes in reincarnation; |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| bin sathigur bhaettae thhaae n paae || |
| without meeting the True Guru, he finds no place of rest. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ |

| O Nanak, he acts according to his pre-ordained destiny. ||2|| |

| jin kae chith kathor hehi sae behehi n sathigur paas || |
| Those who have hearts as hard as stone, do not sit near the True Guru. |

| ਓਥੈ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਾ ਚਿਤ ਉਦਾਸਿ ॥ |
| outhhai sach varathadhaa koorriaaraa chith oudhaas || |
| Truth prevails there; the false ones do not attune their consciousness to it. |
|
| ਓਇ ਵਲੁ ਛਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਝਤਿ ਕਢਦੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਹਹਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ |
| oue val shhal kar jhath kadtadhae fir jaae behehi koorriaaraa paas || |
| By hook or by crook, they pass their time, and then they go back to sit with the false ones again. |
|
| ਵਿਚਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਨ ਗਡਈ ਮਨਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਜਾਸਿ ॥ |
| vich sachae koorr n gaddee man vaekhahu ko nirajaas || |
| Falsehood does not mix with the Truth; O people, check it out and see. |

| ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀ ਜਾਇ ਰਲੇ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਸਿਖ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨੬॥ |
| koorriaar koorriaaree jaae ralae sachiaar sikh baithae sathigur paas ||26|| |
| The false go and mingle with the false, while the truthful Sikhs sit by the side of the True Guru. ||26|| |
