| You have been blessed with this human body. |

| ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਮਿਲਣ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥ |
| gobindh milan kee eih thaeree bareeaa || |
| This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe. |
|
| ਅਵਰਿ ਕਾਜ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਕਾਮ ॥ |
| avar kaaj thaerai kithai n kaam || |
| Other efforts are of no use to you. |
|
| ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥ |
| mil saadhhasangath bhaj kaeval naam ||1|| |
| Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, vibrate and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਰੰਜਾਮਿ ਲਾਗੁ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਨ ਕੈ ॥ |
| saranjaam laag bhavajal tharan kai || |
| Make the effort, and cross over the terrifying world ocean. |
|
| ਜਨਮੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਜਾਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| janam brithhaa jaath rang maaeiaa kai ||1|| rehaao || |
| This human life is passing away in vain, in the love of Maya. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jap thap sanjam dhharam n kamaaeiaa || |
| I have not practiced meditation, penance, self-restraint or righteous living; |
|
| ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾਧ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥ |
| saevaa saadhh n jaaniaa har raaeiaa || |
| I have not served the Holy Saints, and I do not know the Lord, my King. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਕਰੰਮਾ ॥ |
| kahu naanak ham neech karanmaa || |
| Says Nanak, my actions are vile and despicable; |
|
| ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਮਾ ॥੨॥੨੯॥ |
| saran parae kee raakhahu saramaa ||2||29|| |
| O Lord, I seek Your Sanctuary - please, preserve my honor. ||2||29|| |

| ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ |
| thujh bin avar naahee mai dhoojaa thoon maerae man maahee || |
| Without You, there is no other for me; You alone are in my mind. |

| ਤੂੰ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਜੀਅ ਡਰਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ |
| thoon saajan sangee prabh maeraa kaahae jeea ddaraahee ||1|| |
| You are my Friend and Companion, God; why should my soul be afraid? ||1|| |

| ਤੁਮਰੀ ਓਟ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਆਸਾ ॥ |
| thumaree outt thumaaree aasaa || |
| You are my support, You are my hope. |

| ਬੈਠਤ ਊਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਵਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| baithath oothath sovath jaagath visar naahee thoon saas giraasaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| While sitting down or standing up, while sleeping or waking, with every breath and morsel of food, I never forget You. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਵਿਕਰਾਲਾ ॥ |
| raakh raakh saran prabh apanee agan saagar vikaraalaa || |
| Protect me, please protect me, O God; I have come to Your Sanctuary; the ocean of fire is so horrible. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਮ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੨॥੩੦॥ |

| The Lord God has saved me, His slave. |

| ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਰੋ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਤਾਪੁ ਮੁਆ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| preetham sio maero man maaniaa thaap muaa bikh khaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| My mind has surrendered to my Beloved; my fever has taken poison and died. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਪਾਲਾ ਤਾਊ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥ |

| Cold and heat do not touch me at all, when I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. |

| ਡਾਕੀ ਕੋ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਨਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| ddaakee ko chith kashhoo n laagai charan kamal saranaae ||1|| |
| My consciousness is not affected by the witch, Maya; I take to the Sanctuary of the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1|| |

| ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਇ ॥ |
| santh prasaadh bheae kirapaalaa hoeae aap sehaae || |
| By the Grace of the Saints, the Lord has shown His Mercy to me; He Himself is my Help and Support. |

| ਗੁਨ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਿਤਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥੨॥੩੧॥ |
| gun nidhhaan nith gaavai naanak sehasaa dhukh mittaae ||2||31|| |
| Nanak ever sings the Praises of the Lord, the treasure of excellence; his doubts and pains are eliminated. ||2||31|| |

| ਅਉਖਧੁ ਖਾਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| aoukhadhh khaaeiou har ko naao || |
| I have taken the medicine of the Name of the Lord. |
|
| ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| sukh paaeae dhukh binasiaa thhaao ||1|| |
| I have found peace, and the seat of pain has been removed. ||1|| |
|
| ਤਾਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਬਚਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ॥ |
| thaap gaeiaa bachan gur poorae || |
| The fever has been broken, by the Teachings of the Perfect Guru. |
|
| ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਵਿਸੂਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| anadh bhaeiaa sabh mittae visoorae ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am in ecstasy, and all of my sorrows have been dispelled. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jeea janth sagal sukh paaeiaa || |
| All beings and creatures obtain peace, |
|
| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੨॥੩੨॥ |
| paarabreham naanak man dhhiaaeiaa ||2||32|| |
| O Nanak, meditating on the Supreme Lord God. ||2||32|| |

| ਬਾਂਛਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁ ਬੇਲਾ ਆਈ ॥ |
| baanshhath naahee s baelaa aaee || |
| That time, which the mortal does not wish for, eventually comes. |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਕਿਉ ਬੁਝੈ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| bin hukamai kio bujhai bujhaaee ||1|| |
| Without the Lord's Command, how can understanding be understood? ||1|| |
|
| ਠੰਢੀ ਤਾਤੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਖਾਈ ॥ |
| thandtee thaathee mittee khaaee || |
| The body is consumed by water, fire and earth. |
|
| ਓਹੁ ਨ ਬਾਲਾ ਬੂਢਾ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ouhu n baalaa boodtaa bhaaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| But the soul is neither young nor old, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਾਧ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ |
| naanak dhaas saadhh saranaaee || |
| Servant Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Holy. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਉ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੨॥੩੩॥ |
| gur prasaadh bho paar paraaee ||2||33|| |
| By Guru's Grace, he has shaken off the fear of death. ||2||33|| |

| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa aatham paragaas || |
| Forever and ever, the soul is illumined; |
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੧॥ |
| saadhhasangath har charan nivaas ||1|| |
| in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, it dwells at the Feet of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਤਿ ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥ |
| raam naam nith jap man maerae || |
| Chant the Lord's Name each and every day, O my mind. |

| ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਜਾਹਿ ਸਭੇ ਮਨ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| seethal saanth sadhaa sukh paavehi kilavikh jaahi sabhae man thaerae ||1|| rehaao || |
| You shall find lasting peace, contentment and tranquility, and all your sins shall depart. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਮ ॥ |
| kahu naanak jaa kae pooran karam || |
| Says Nanak, one who is blessed with perfect good karma, |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥੨॥੩੪॥ |
| sathigur bhaettae pooran paarabreham ||2||34|| |
| meets the True Guru, and obtains the Perfect Supreme Lord God. ||2||34|| |
