| ਨਾਮੁ ਸਹਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਆਗੈ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| naam sehaaee sadhaa sang aagai leae shhaddaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| The Naam is your Companion; it shall always be with you. It shall save you in the world hereafter. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੀਆ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਕਵਨੈ ਆਵਹਿ ਕਾਮਿ ॥ |
| dhuneeaa keeaa vaddiaaeeaa kavanai aavehi kaam || |
| What good is worldly greatness? |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਸਭੁ ਫਿਕਾ ਜਾਤੋ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਨਿਦਾਨਿ ॥ |
| maaeiaa kaa rang sabh fikaa jaatho binas nidhaan || |
| All the pleasures of Maya are tasteless and insipid. In the end, they shall all fade away. |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਸੋ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥੨॥ |
| jaa kai hiradhai har vasai so pooraa paradhhaan ||2|| |
| Perfectly fulfilled and supremely acclaimed is the one, in whose heart the Lord abides. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਹੋਹੁ ਰੇਣੁਕਾ ਅਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥ |
| saadhhoo kee hohu raenukaa apanaa aap thiaag || |
| Become the dust of the Saints; renounce your selfishness and conceit. |
|
| ਉਪਾਵ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਛਡਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ॥ |
| oupaav siaanap sagal shhadd gur kee charanee laag || |
| Give up all your schemes and your clever mental tricks, and fall at the Feet of the Guru. |

| ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੩॥ |
| thisehi paraapath rathan hoe jis masathak hovai bhaag ||3|| |
| He alone receives the Jewel, upon whose forehead such wondrous destiny is written. ||3|| |
|
| ਤਿਸੈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ॥ |
| thisai paraapath bhaaeeho jis dhaevai prabh aap || |
| O Siblings of Destiny, it is received only when God Himself bestows it. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਾਪੁ ॥ |
| sathigur kee saevaa so karae jis binasai houmai thaap || |
| People serve the True Guru only when the fever of egotism has been eradicated. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥੪॥੮॥੭੮॥ |
| naanak ko gur bhaettiaa binasae sagal santhaap ||4||8||78|| |
| Nanak has met the Guru; all his sufferings have come to an end. ||4||8||78|| |

| eik pashhaanoo jeea kaa eiko rakhanehaar || |
| The One is the Knower of all beings; He alone is our Savior. |
|
| ਇਕਸ ਕਾ ਮਨਿ ਆਸਰਾ ਇਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| eikas kaa man aasaraa eiko praan adhhaar || |
| The One is the Support of the mind; the One is the Support of the breath of life. |
|
| ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ |
| this saranaaee sadhaa sukh paarabreham karathaar ||1|| |
| In His Sanctuary there is eternal peace. He is the Supreme Lord God, the Creator. ||1|| |
|
| ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਵ ਤਿਆਗੁ ॥ |

| O my mind, give up all these efforts. |
|
| ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਨਿਤ ਇਕਸੁ ਕੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| gur pooraa aaraadhh nith eikas kee liv laag ||1|| rehaao || |
| Dwell upon the Perfect Guru each day, and attach yourself to the One Lord. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਇਕੋ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਤੁ ਇਕੁ ਇਕੋ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ॥ |
| eiko bhaaee mith eik eiko maath pithaa || |
| The One is my Brother, the One is my Friend. The One is my Mother and Father. |
|
| ਇਕਸ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦਿਤਾ ॥ |
| eikas kee man ttaek hai jin jeeo pindd dhithaa || |
| The One is the Support of the mind; He has given us body and soul. |
|
| ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੨॥ |
| so prabh manahu n visarai jin sabh kishh vas keethaa ||2|| |
| May I never forget God from my mind; He holds all in the Power of His Hands. ||2|| |
|
| ਘਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਆਪਿ ॥ |
| ghar eiko baahar eiko thhaan thhananthar aap || |
| The One is within the home of the self, and the One is outside as well. He Himself is in all places and interspaces. |
|
| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਾਪਿ ॥ |
| jeea janth sabh jin keeeae aath pehar this jaap || |
| Meditate twenty-four hours a day on the One who created all beings and creatures. |
|
| ਇਕਸੁ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥੩॥ |
| eikas saethee rathiaa n hovee sog santhaap ||3|| |
| Attuned to the Love of the One, there is no sorrow or suffering. ||3|| |
|
| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| paarabreham prabh eaek hai dhoojaa naahee koe || |
| There is only the One Supreme Lord God; there is no other at all. |
|
| ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| jeeo pindd sabh this kaa jo this bhaavai s hoe || |
| Soul and body all belong to Him; whatever pleases His Will comes to pass. |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਇਆ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੯॥੭੯॥ |
| gur poorai pooraa bhaeiaa jap naanak sachaa soe ||4||9||79|| |
| Through the Perfect Guru, one becomes perfect; O Nanak, meditate on the True One. ||4||9||79|| |

| jinaa sathigur sio chith laaeiaa sae poorae paradhhaan || |
| Those who focus their consciousness on the True Guru are perfectly fulfilled and famous. |
|
| ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਨ ਉਪਜੈ ਮਨਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥ |
| jin ko aap dhaeiaal hoe thin oupajai man giaan || |
| Spiritual wisdom wells up in the minds of those unto whom the Lord Himself shows Mercy. |
|
| ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ |
| jin ko masathak likhiaa thin paaeiaa har naam ||1|| |
| Those who have such destiny written upon their foreheads obtain the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥ |

| O my mind, meditate on the Name of the One Lord. |

| ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਸੁਖ ਊਪਜਹਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sarab sukhaa sukh oopajehi dharageh paidhhaa jaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| The happiness of all happiness shall well up, and in the Court of the Lord, you shall be dressed in robes of honor. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥ |
| janam maran kaa bho gaeiaa bhaao bhagath gopaal || |
| The fear of death and rebirth is removed by performing loving devotional service to the Lord of the World. |
|
| ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥ |
| saadhhoo sangath niramalaa aap karae prathipaal || |
| In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, one becomes immaculate and pure; the Lord Himself takes care of such a one. |
|
| ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੨॥ |
| janam maran kee mal katteeai gur dharasan dhaekh nihaal ||2|| |
| The filth of birth and death is washed away, and one is uplifted, beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. ||2|| |
|
| ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| thhaan thhananthar rav rehiaa paarabreham prabh soe || |
| The Supreme Lord God is pervading all places and interspaces. |
|
| ਸਭਨਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| sabhanaa dhaathaa eaek hai dhoojaa naahee koe || |
| The One is the Giver of all-there is no other at all. |
|
| ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ |
| this saranaaee shhutteeai keethaa lorrae s hoe ||3|| |
| In His Sanctuary, one is saved. Whatever He wishes, comes to pass. ||3|| |
|
| ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਪਰਧਾਨ ॥ |
| jin man vasiaa paarabreham sae poorae paradhhaan || |
| Perfectly fulfilled and famous are those, in whose minds the Supreme Lord God abides. |
|
| ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਈ ਜਹਾਨ ॥ |
| thin kee sobhaa niramalee paragatt bhee jehaan || |
| Their reputation is spotless and pure; they are famous all over the world. |
|
| ਜਿਨੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੮੦॥ |
| jinee maeraa prabh dhhiaaeiaa naanak thin kurabaan ||4||10||80|| |
| O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who meditate on my God. ||4||10||80|| |
