ਜਿਚਰੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਕਿ ਕਰੇਗੁ ਅਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
jichar vich dhanm hai thichar n chaethee k karaeg agai jaae || |
As long as there is breath in the body, he does not remember the Lord; what will he do in the world hereafter? |

ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਚੇਤੰਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ |
giaanee hoe s chaethann hoe agiaanee andhh kamaae || |
One who remembers the Lord is a spiritual teacher; the ignorant one acts blindly. |

ਨਾਨਕ ਏਥੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਅਗੈ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
naanak eaethhai kamaavai so milai agai paaeae jaae ||1|| |
O Nanak, whatever one does in this world, determines what he shall receive in the world hereafter. ||1|| |

dhhur khasamai kaa hukam paeiaa vin sathigur chaethiaa n jaae || |
From the very beginning, it has been the Will of the Lord Master, that He cannot be remembered without the True Guru. |

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
sathigur miliai anthar rav rehiaa sadhaa rehiaa liv laae || |
Meeting the True Guru, he realizes that the Lord is permeating and pervading deep within him; he remains forever absorbed in the Lord's Love. |

ਦਮਿ ਦਮਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਦਾ ਦੰਮੁ ਨ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
dham dham sadhaa samaaladhaa dhanm n birathhaa jaae || |
With each and every breath, he constantly remembers the Lord in meditation; not a single breath passes in vain. |

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
janam maran kaa bho gaeiaa jeevan padhavee paae || |
His fears of birth and death depart, and he obtains the honored state of eternal life. |

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
naanak eihu marathabaa this no dhaee jis no kirapaa karae rajaae ||2|| |
O Nanak, He bestows this rank upon that mortal, upon whom He showers His Mercy. ||2|| |

He Himself is all-wise and all-knowing; He Himself is supreme. |

ਆਪੇ ਰੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਲਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਇ ਧਿਆਨਾਂ ॥ |
aapae roop dhikhaaladhaa aapae laae dhhiaanaan || |
He Himself reveals His form, and He Himself enjoins us to His meditation. |

ਆਪੇ ਮੋਨੀ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਕਥੈ ਗਿਆਨਾਂ ॥ |
aapae monee varathadhaa aapae kathhai giaanaan || |
He Himself poses as a silent sage, and He Himself speaks spiritual wisdom. |

ਕਉੜਾ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਸਭਨਾ ਹੀ ਭਾਨਾ ॥ |
kourraa kisai n lagee sabhanaa hee bhaanaa || |
He does not seem bitter to anyone; He is pleasing to all. |

ਉਸਤਤਿ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਐ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੧੯॥ |
ousathath baran n sakeeai sadh sadh kurabaanaa ||19|| |
His Praises cannot be described; forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to Him. ||19|| |

In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, O Nanak, the demons have taken birth. |

ਪੁਤੁ ਜਿਨੂਰਾ ਧੀਅ ਜਿੰਨੂਰੀ ਜੋਰੂ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਕਦਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ |
puth jinooraa dhheea jinnooree joroo jinnaa dhaa sikadhaar ||1|| |
The son is a demon, and the daughter is a demon; the wife is the chief of the demons. ||1|| |

The Hindus have forgotten the Primal Lord; they are going the wrong way. |

ਨਾਰਦਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਂਹੀ ॥ਅੰਧੇ ਗੁੰਗੇ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
naaradh kehiaa s pooj karaanhee || andhhae gungae andhh andhhaar || |
As Naarad instructed them, they are worshipping idols. They are blind and mute, the blindest of the blind. |

ਪਾਥਰੁ ਲੇ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥ |
paathhar lae poojehi mugadhh gavaar || |
The ignorant fools pick up stones and worship them. |
|
ਓਹਿ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੇ ਤੁਮ ਕਹਾ ਤਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ |
ouhi jaa aap ddubae thum kehaa tharanehaar ||2|| |
But when those stones themselves sink, who will carry you across? ||2|| |

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਹੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਤੂ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥ |

Everything is in Your power; You are the True King. |

ਭਗਤ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਏਕ ਕੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥ |
bhagath rathae rang eaek kai pooraa vaesaahu || |
The devotees are imbued with the Love of the One Lord; they have perfect faith in Him. |

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਜਿ ਰਜਿ ਜਨ ਖਾਹੁ ॥ |
anmrith bhojan naam har raj raj jan khaahu || |
The Name of the Lord is the ambrosial food; His humble servants eat their fill. |

ਸਭਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਿਮਰਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹੁ ॥ |
sabh padhaarathh paaeean simaran sach laahu || |
All treasures are obtained - meditative remembrance on the Lord is the true profit. |

ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਹੁ ॥੨੦॥ |
santh piaarae paarabreham naanak har agam agaahu ||20|| |
The Saints are very dear to the Supreme Lord God, O Nanak; the Lord is unapproachable and unfathomable. ||20|| |

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਆਵਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
sabh kishh hukamae aavadhaa sabh kishh hukamae jaae || |
Everything comes by the Lord's Will, and everything goes by the Lord's Will. |

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਆਪਹੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਅੰਧਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ |
jae ko moorakh aapahu jaanai andhhaa andhh kamaae || |
If some fool believes that he is the creator, he is blind, and acts in blindness. |

ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
naanak hukam ko guramukh bujhai jis no kirapaa karae rajaae ||1|| |
O Nanak, the Gurmukh understands the Hukam of the Lord's Command; the Lord showers His Mercy upon him. ||1|| |

ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
so jogee jugath so paaeae jis no guramukh naam paraapath hoe || |
He alone is a Yogi, and he alone finds the Way, who, as Gurmukh, obtains the Naam. |

ਤਿਸੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਕੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਸੈ ਭੇਖੀ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
this jogee kee nagaree sabh ko vasai bhaekhee jog n hoe || |
In the body-village of that Yogi are all blessings; this Yoga is not obtained by outward show. |

ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ |
naanak aisaa viralaa ko jogee jis ghatt paragatt hoe ||2|| |
O Nanak, such a Yogi is very rare; the Lord is manifest in his heart. ||2|| |

ਆਪੇ ਸੂਖਮੁ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥ |
aapae sookham bhaaleeai aapae paasaar || |
He Himself is seen to be subtle, and He Himself is obvious. |

ਆਪਿ ਇਕਾਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਵਡ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥ |
aap eikaathee hoe rehai aapae vadd paravaar || |
He Himself remains a solitary recluse, and He Himself has a huge family. |

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਰੇਨਾਰੁ ॥ |
naanak mangai dhaan har santhaa raenaar || |
Nanak asks for the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints of the Lord. |

ਹੋਰੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਤੂ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨੧॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ ॥ |
