| ਦੁਇ ਦੁਇ ਲੋਚਨ ਪੇਖਾ ॥ |
| dhue dhue lochan paekhaa || |
| With both of my eyes, I look around; |

| ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਉਰੁ ਨ ਦੇਖਾ ॥ |
| ho har bin aour n dhaekhaa || |
| I don't see anything except the Lord. |
 |
| ਨੈਨ ਰਹੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਈ ॥ |
| nain rehae rang laaee || |
| My eyes gaze lovingly upon Him, |
 |
| ਅਬ ਬੇ ਗਲ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| ab bae gal kehan n jaaee ||1|| |
| and now, I cannot speak of anything else. ||1|| |

| ਹਮਰਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥ |
| hamaraa bharam gaeiaa bho bhaagaa || |
| My doubts were removed, and my fear ran away, |
 |
| ਜਬ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jab raam naam chith laagaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| when my consciousness became attached to the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬਾਜੀਗਰ ਡੰਕ ਬਜਾਈ ॥ |
| baajeegar ddank bajaaee || |
| When the magician beats his tambourine, |
 |
| ਸਭ ਖਲਕ ਤਮਾਸੇ ਆਈ ॥ |
| sabh khalak thamaasae aaee || |
| everyone comes to see the show. |
 |
| ਬਾਜੀਗਰ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗੁ ਸਕੇਲਾ ॥ |
| baajeegar svaang sakaelaa || |
| When the magician winds up his show, |
 |
| ਅਪਨੇ ਰੰਗ ਰਵੈ ਅਕੇਲਾ ॥੨॥ |
| apanae rang ravai akaelaa ||2|| |
| then he enjoys its play all alone. ||2|| |
 |
| ਕਥਨੀ ਕਹਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| kathhanee kehi bharam n jaaee || |
| By preaching sermons, one's doubt is not dispelled. |
 |
| ਸਭ ਕਥਿ ਕਥਿ ਰਹੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ॥ |
| sabh kathh kathh rehee lukaaee || |
| Everyone is tired of preaching and teaching. |
 |
| ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ |
| jaa ko guramukh aap bujhaaee || |
| The Lord causes the Gurmukh to understand; |
 |
| ਤਾ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| thaa kae hiradhai rehiaa samaaee ||3|| |
| his heart remains permeated with the Lord. ||3|| |
 |
| ਗੁਰ ਕਿੰਚਤ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਨੀ ॥ |
| gur kinchath kirapaa keenee || |
| When the Guru grants even a bit of His Grace, |
 |
| ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਹ ਹਰਿ ਲੀਨੀ ॥ |
| sabh than man dhaeh har leenee || |
| one's body, mind and entire being are absorbed into the Lord. |
 |
| ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ |
| kehi kabeer rang raathaa || |
| Says Kabeer, I am imbued with the Lord's Love; |
 |
| ਮਿਲਿਓ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੪॥ |
| miliou jagajeevan dhaathaa ||4||4|| |
| I have met with the Life of the world, the Great Giver. ||4||4|| |
 |
| ਜਾ ਕੇ ਨਿਗਮ ਦੂਧ ਕੇ ਠਾਟਾ ॥ |
| jaa kae nigam dhoodhh kae thaattaa || |
| Let the sacred scriptures be your milk and cream, |
 |
| ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਬਿਲੋਵਨ ਕਉ ਮਾਟਾ ॥ |
| samundh bilovan ko maattaa || |
| and the ocean of the mind the churning vat. |
 |
| ਤਾ ਕੀ ਹੋਹੁ ਬਿਲੋਵਨਹਾਰੀ ॥ |
| thaa kee hohu bilovanehaaree || |
| Be the butter-churner of the Lord, |
 |
| ਕਿਉ ਮੇਟੈ ਗੋ ਛਾਛਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| kio maettai go shhaashh thuhaaree ||1|| |
| and your buttermilk shall not be wasted. ||1|| |
 |
| ਚੇਰੀ ਤੂ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਕਰਸਿ ਭਤਾਰਾ ॥ |
| chaeree thoo raam n karas bhathaaraa || |
| O soul-bride slave, why don't you take the Lord as your Husband? |
 |
| ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jagajeevan praan adhhaaraa ||1|| rehaao || |
| He is the Life of the world, the Support of the breath of life. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਤੇਰੇ ਗਲਹਿ ਤਉਕੁ ਪਗ ਬੇਰੀ ॥ |
| thaerae galehi thouk pag baeree || |
| The chain is around your neck, and the cuffs are on your feet. |

| ਤੂ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਰਮਈਐ ਫੇਰੀ ॥ |
| thoo ghar ghar rameeai faeree || |
| The Lord has sent you wandering around from house to house. |
 |
| ਤੂ ਅਜਹੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਸਿ ਚੇਰੀ ॥ |
| thoo ajahu n chaethas chaeree || |
| And still, you do not meditate on the Lord, O soul-bride, slave. |
 |
| ਤੂ ਜਮਿ ਬਪੁਰੀ ਹੈ ਹੇਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| thoo jam bapuree hai haeree ||2|| |
| Death is watching you, O wretched woman. ||2|| |
 |
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰੀ ॥ |
| prabh karan karaavanehaaree || |
| The Lord God is the Cause of causes. |
 |
| ਕਿਆ ਚੇਰੀ ਹਾਥ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥ |
| kiaa chaeree haathh bichaaree || |
| What is in the hands of the poor soul-bride, the slave? |
 |
| ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਗੀ ॥ |
| soee soee jaagee || |
| She awakens from her slumber, |
 |
| ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੩॥ |
| jith laaee thith laagee ||3|| |
| and she becomes attached to whatever the Lord attaches her. ||3|| |
 |
| ਚੇਰੀ ਤੈ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਕਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| chaeree thai sumath kehaan thae paaee || |
| O soul-bride, slave, where did you obtain that wisdom, |
 |
| ਜਾ ਤੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੀ ਲੀਕ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥ |
| jaa thae bhram kee leek mittaaee || |
| by which you erased your inscription of doubt? |
 |
| ਸੁ ਰਸੁ ਕਬੀਰੈ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ |
| s ras kabeerai jaaniaa || |
| Kabeer has tasted that subtle essence; |
 |
| ਮੇਰੋ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੪॥੫॥ |
| maero gur prasaadh man maaniaa ||4||5|| |
| by Guru's Grace, his mind is reconciled with the Lord. ||4||5|| |

| ਜਿਹ ਬਾਝੁ ਨ ਜੀਆ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| jih baajh n jeeaa jaaee || |
| Without Him, we cannot even live; |
 |
| ਜਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਘਾਲ ਅਘਾਈ ॥ |
| jo milai th ghaal aghaaee || |
| when we meet Him, then our task is completed. |
 |
| ਸਦ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਭਲੋ ਕਹਾਂਹੀ ॥ |
| sadh jeevan bhalo kehaanhee || |
| People say it is good to live forever, |
 |
| ਮੂਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ |
| mooeae bin jeevan naahee ||1|| |
| but without dying, there is no life. ||1|| |
 |
| ਅਬ ਕਿਆ ਕਥੀਐ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ |
| ab kiaa kathheeai giaan beechaaraa || |
| So now, what sort wisdom should I contemplate and preach? |
 |
| ਨਿਜ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਗਤ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| nij nirakhath gath biouhaaraa ||1|| rehaao || |
| As I watch, worldly things dissipate. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਘਸਿ ਕੁੰਕਮ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਗਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| ghas kunkam chandhan gaariaa || |
| Saffron is ground up, and mixed with sandalwood; |
 |
| ਬਿਨੁ ਨੈਨਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| bin nainahu jagath nihaariaa || |
| without eyes, the world is seen. |
 |
| ਪੂਤਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਇਕੁ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ |
| pooth pithaa eik jaaeiaa || |
| The son has given birth to his father; |
 |
| ਬਿਨੁ ਠਾਹਰ ਨਗਰੁ ਬਸਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ |
| bin thaahar nagar basaaeiaa ||2|| |
| without a place, the city has been established. ||2|| |
 |
| ਜਾਚਕ ਜਨ ਦਾਤਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jaachak jan dhaathaa paaeiaa || |
| The humble beggar has found the Great Giver, |
 |
| ਸੋ ਦੀਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਖਾਇਆ ॥ |
| so dheeaa n jaaee khaaeiaa || |
| but he is unable to eat what he has been given. |
 |
| ਛੋਡਿਆ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਮੂਕਾ ॥ |
| shhoddiaa jaae n mookaa || |
| He cannot leave it alone, but it is never exhausted. |
 |
| ਅਉਰਨ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਨਾ ਚੂਕਾ ॥੩॥ |
| aouran pehi jaanaa chookaa ||3|| |
| He shall not go to beg from others any longer. ||3|| |
 |
| ਜੋ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਰਨਾ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ਸੋ ਪੰਚ ਸੈਲ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ |
| jo jeevan maranaa jaanai || so panch sail sukh maanai || |
| Those select few, who know how to die while yet alive, enjoy great peace. |
 |
| ਕਬੀਰੈ ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| kabeerai so dhhan paaeiaa || |
| Kabeer has found that wealth; |
 |
| ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟਤ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੬॥ |
| har bhaettath aap mittaaeiaa ||4||6|| |
| meeting with the Lord, he has erased his self-conceit. ||4||6|| |
 |
| ਕਿਆ ਪੜੀਐ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਨੀਐ ॥ |
| kiaa parreeai kiaa guneeai || |
| What use is it to read, and what use is it to study? |
 |
| ਕਿਆ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨਾਂ ਸੁਨੀਐ ॥ |
| kiaa baedh puraanaan suneeai || |
| What use is it to listen to the Vedas and the Puraanas? |
 |
| ਪੜੇ ਸੁਨੇ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| parrae sunae kiaa hoee || |
| What use is reading and listening, |
 |
| ਜਉ ਸਹਜ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ |
| jo sehaj n miliou soee ||1|| |
| if celestial peace is not attained? ||1|| |
 |
| ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਪਸਿ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥ |
| har kaa naam n japas gavaaraa || |
| The fool does not chant the Name of the Lord. |
 |
| ਕਿਆ ਸੋਚਹਿ ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kiaa sochehi baaran baaraa ||1|| rehaao || |
| So what does he think of, over and over again? ||1||Pause|| |

| ਅੰਧਿਆਰੇ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਚਹੀਐ ॥ |
