| gur parasaadhee ko viralaa shhoottai this jan ko ho balihaaree ||3|| |
| By Guru's Grace, a few rare ones are saved; I am a sacrifice to those humble beings. ||3|| |

| ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥ |
| jin sisatt saajee soee har jaanai thaa kaa roop apaaro || |
| The One who created the Universe, that Lord alone knows. His beauty is incomparable. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥ |
| naanak aapae vaekh har bigasai guramukh breham beechaaro ||4||3||14|| |
| O Nanak, the Lord Himself gazes upon it, and is pleased. The Gurmukh contemplates God. ||4||3||14|| |

| ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਸਰਬ ਰਜਾਈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਚੈ ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਕੀਐ ॥ |
| keethaa karanaa sarab rajaaee kishh keechai jae kar sakeeai || |
| All that happens, and all that will happen, is by His Will. If we could do something by ourselves, we would. |

| ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੀਐ ॥੧॥ |
| aapanaa keethaa kishhoo n hovai jio har bhaavai thio rakheeai ||1|| |
| By ourselves, we cannot do anything at all. As it pleases the Lord, He preserves us. ||1|| |

| ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ॥ |

| O my Dear Lord, everything is in Your power. |

| ਅਸਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਸਾਕਹ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬਖਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| asaa jor naahee jae kishh kar ham saakeh jio bhaavai thivai bakhas ||1|| rehaao || |
| I have no power to do anything at all. As it pleases You, You forgive us. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sabh jeeo pindd dheeaa thudhh aapae thudhh aapae kaarai laaeiaa || |
| You Yourself bless us with soul, body and everything. You Yourself cause us to act. |

| ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਹੇ ਕੋ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ |
| jaehaa thoon hukam karehi thaehae ko karam kamaavai jaehaa thudhh dhhur likh paaeiaa ||2|| |
| As You issue Your Commands, so do we act, according to our pre-ordained destiny. ||2|| |

| ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀ ਕੋਈ ਛੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਉ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ |
| panch thath kar thudhh srisatt sabh saajee koee shhaevaa kario jae kishh keethaa hovai || |
| You created the entire Universe out of the five elements; if anyone can create a sixth, let him. |

| ਇਕਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬੁਝਾਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਰੋਵੈ ॥੩॥ |
| eikanaa sathigur mael thoon bujhaavehi eik manamukh karehi s rovai ||3|| |
| You unite some with the True Guru, and cause them to understand, while others, the self-willed manmukhs, do their deeds and cry out in pain. ||3|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਉ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਾ ਹਉ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਨੀਚਾਣੁ ॥ |
| har kee vaddiaaee ho aakh n saakaa ho moorakh mugadhh neechaan || |
| I cannot describe the glorious greatness of the Lord; I am foolish, thoughtless, idiotic and lowly. |

| One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: |

| ਬਾਜੀਗਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| baajeegar jaisae baajee paaee || |
| The actor stages the play, |
|
| ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਲਾਈ ॥ |
| naanaa roop bhaekh dhikhalaaee || |
| playing the many characters in different costumes; |
|
| ਸਾਂਗੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਓ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| saang outhaar thhanmihou paasaaraa || |
| but when the play ends, he takes off the costumes, |
|
| ਤਬ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ |
| thab eaeko eaekankaaraa ||1|| |
| and then he is one, and only one. ||1|| |

| ਕਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਓ ਬਿਨਸਾਇਓ ॥ |
| kavan roop dhrisattiou binasaaeiou || |
| How many forms and images appeared and disappeared? |
|
| ਕਤਹਿ ਗਇਓ ਉਹੁ ਕਤ ਤੇ ਆਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kathehi gaeiou ouhu kath thae aaeiou ||1|| rehaao || |
| Where have they gone? Where did they come from? ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਲ ਤੇ ਊਠਹਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥ |
| jal thae oothehi anik tharangaa || |
| Countless waves rise up from the water. |
|
| ਕਨਿਕ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੀਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥ |
| kanik bhookhan keenae bahu rangaa || |
| Jewels and ornaments of many different forms are fashioned from gold. |
|
| ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰਾ ॥ |
| beej beej dhaekhiou bahu parakaaraa || |
| I have seen seeds of all kinds being planted |
|
| ਫਲ ਪਾਕੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ |
| fal paakae thae eaekankaaraa ||2|| |
| - when the fruit ripens, the seeds appear in the same form as the original. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਹਸ ਘਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥ |
| sehas ghattaa mehi eaek aakaas || |
| The one sky is reflected in thousands of water jugs, |
|
| ਘਟ ਫੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਓਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ |
| ghatt foottae thae ouhee pragaas || |
| but when the jugs are broken, only the sky remains. |
|
| ਭਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥ |
| bharam lobh moh maaeiaa vikaar || |
| Doubt comes from greed, emotional attachment and the corruption of Maya. |
|
| ਭ੍ਰਮ ਛੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥ |
| bhram shhoottae thae eaekankaar ||3|| |
| Freed from doubt, one realizes the One Lord alone. ||3|| |
|
| ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| ouhu abinaasee binasath naahee || |
| He is imperishable; He will never pass away. |
|
| ਨਾ ਕੋ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਹੀ ॥ |
| naa ko aavai naa ko jaahee || |
| He does not come, and He does not go. |
|
| ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਈ ॥ |
| gur poorai houmai mal dhhoee || |
| The Perfect Guru has washed away the filth of ego. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥ |

| Says Nanak, I have obtained the supreme status. ||4||1|| |

| Whatever God wills, that alone happens. |
|
| ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| thujh bin dhoojaa naahee koe || |
| Without You, there is no other at all. |
|
| ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਜ ॥ |
| jo jan saevae this pooran kaaj || |
| The humble being serves Him, and so all his works are perfectly successful. |
|
| ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ॥੧॥ |
| dhaas apunae kee raakhahu laaj ||1|| |
| O Lord, please preserve the honor of Your slaves. ||1|| |
|
| ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ |
| thaeree saran pooran dhaeiaalaa || |
| I seek Your Sanctuary, O Perfect, Merciful Lord. |

| ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| Without You, who would cherish and love me? ||1||Pause|| |

| He is permeating and pervading the water, the land and the sky. |

| ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ |
| nikatt vasai naahee prabh dhoor || |
| God dwells near at hand; He is not far away. |
|
| ਲੋਕ ਪਤੀਆਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ |
| lok patheeaarai kashhoo n paaeeai || |
| By trying to please other people, nothing is accomplished. |
|
| ਸਾਚਿ ਲਗੈ ਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥ |
| saach lagai thaa houmai jaaeeai ||2|| |
| When someone is attached to the True Lord, his ego is taken away. ||2|| |
