| ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਤੂਹੈ ਮਨਾਇਹਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਹਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ |
| thaeraa bhaanaa thoohai manaaeihi jis no hohi dhaeiaalaa || |
| He alone obeys Your Will, O Lord, unto whom You are Merciful. |

| ਸਾਈ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ |
| saaee bhagath jo thudhh bhaavai thoon sarab jeeaa prathipaalaa ||1|| |
| That alone is devotional worship, which is pleasing to Your Will. You are the Cherisher of all beings. ||1|| |

| ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਸੰਤਾ ਟੇਕ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥ |

| O my Sovereign Lord, You are the Support of the Saints. |

| ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਅਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jo thudhh bhaavai so paravaan man than thoohai adhhaaree ||1|| rehaao || |
| Whatever pleases You, they accept. You are the sustenance of their minds and bodies. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ |

| You are kind and compassionate, the treasure of mercy, the fulfiller of our hopes. |

| ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਪਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤੂੰ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੨॥ |

| You are the Beloved Lord of life of all Your devotees; You are the Beloved of Your devotees. ||2|| |

| ਤੂ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਊਚਾ ਕੋਈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਾਤੇ ॥ |
| thoo athhaahu apaar ath oochaa koee avar n thaeree bhaathae || |
| You are unfathomable, infinite, lofty and exalted. There is no one else like You. |

| ਇਹ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥੩॥ |
| eih aradhaas hamaaree suaamee visar naahee sukhadhaathae ||3|| |
| This is my prayer, O my Lord and Master; may I never forget You, O Peace-giving Lord. ||3|| |

| ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਜੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਾ ॥ |
| dhin rain saas saas gun gaavaa jae suaamee thudhh bhaavaa || |
| Day and night, with each and every breath, I sing Your Glorious Praises, if it is pleasing to Your Will. |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੁਠੈ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੪੮॥ |
| naam thaeraa sukh naanak maagai saahib thuthai paavaa ||4||1||48|| |
| Nanak begs for the peace of Your Name, O Lord and Master; as it is pleasing to Your Will, I shall attain it. ||4||1||48|| |

| visarehi naahee jith thoo kabehoo so thhaan thaeraa kaehaa || |
| Where is that place, where You are never forgotten, Lord? |

| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਜਿਤੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਦੇਹਾ ॥੧॥ |
| aath pehar jith thudhh dhhiaaee niramal hovai dhaehaa ||1|| |
| Twenty-four hours a day, they meditate on You, and their bodies become spotless and pure. ||1|| |
|
| ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਉ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਭਾਲਣ ਆਇਆ ॥ |

| O my Lord, I have come searching for that place. |

| ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਭਇਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| khojath khojath bhaeiaa saadhhasang thinh saranaaee paaeiaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| After seeking and searching, I found Sanctuary in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬੇਦ ਪੜੇ ਪੜਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਹਾਰੇ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| baedh parrae parr brehamae haarae eik thil nehee keemath paaee || |
| Reading and reciting the Vedas, Brahma grew weary, but he did not find even a tiny bit of God's worth. |

| ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੇ ਤੇ ਭੀ ਮੋਹੇ ਮਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| saadhhik sidhh firehi bilalaathae thae bhee mohae maaee ||2|| |
| The seekers and Siddhas wander around bewailing; they too are enticed by Maya. ||2|| |
|
| ਦਸ ਅਉਤਾਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਹੋਇ ਵਰਤੇ ਮਹਾਦੇਵ ਅਉਧੂਤਾ ॥ |
| dhas aouthaar raajae hoe varathae mehaadhaev aoudhhoothaa || |
| There were ten regal incarnations of Vishnu; and then there was Shiva, the renunciate. |

| ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਭੀ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਤੇਰਾ ਲਾਇ ਥਕੇ ਬਿਭੂਤਾ ॥੩॥ |
| thinh bhee anth n paaeiou thaeraa laae thhakae bibhoothaa ||3|| |
| He did not find Your limits either, although he grew weary of smearing his body with ashes. ||3|| |

| ਸਹਜ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sehaj sookh aanandh naam ras har santhee mangal gaaeiaa || |
| Peace, poise and bliss are found in the subtle essence of the Naam. The Lord's Saints sing the songs of joy. |

| ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੪੯॥ |
| safal dharasan bhaettiou gur naanak thaa man than har har dhhiaaeiaa ||4||2||49|| |
| I have obtained the Fruitful Vision of Guru Nanak's Darshan, and with my mind and body I meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||2||49|| |

| karam dhharam paakhandd jo dheesehi thin jam jaagaathee loottai || |
| The religious rites, rituals and hypocrisies which are seen, are plundered by the Messenger of Death, the ultimate tax collector. |

| ਨਿਰਬਾਣ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਾ ਨਿਮਖ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਜਿਤੁ ਛੂਟੈ ॥੧॥ |
| nirabaan keerathan gaavahu karathae kaa nimakh simarath jith shhoottai ||1|| |
| In the state of Nirvaanaa, sing the Kirtan of the Creator's Praises; contemplating Him in meditation, even for an instant, one is saved. ||1|| |

| O Saints, cross over the world-ocean. |

| ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬਚਨੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਤਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jae ko bachan kamaavai santhan kaa so gur parasaadhee thareeai ||1|| rehaao || |
| One who practices the Teachings of the Saints, by Guru's Grace, is carried across. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਕੋਟਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਮਜਨ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੀਜੈ ॥ |
| kott theerathh majan eisanaanaa eis kal mehi mail bhareejai || |
| Millions of cleansing baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage only fill the mortal with filth in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੨॥ |
| saadhhasang jo har gun gaavai so niramal kar leejai ||2|| |
| One who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, becomes spotlessly pure. ||2|| |

| ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਪੜਿਆ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| baedh kathaeb simrith sabh saasath einh parriaa mukath n hoee || |
| One may read all the books of the Vedas, the Bible, the Simritees and the Shaastras, but they will not bring liberation. |

| ਏਕੁ ਅਖਰੁ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥ |
| eaek akhar jo guramukh jaapai this kee niramal soee ||3|| |
| One who, as Gurmukh, chants the One Word, acquires a spotlessly pure reputation. ||3|| |
|
| ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਸੂਦ ਵੈਸ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਕਉ ਸਾਝਾ ॥ |
| khathree braahaman soodh vais oupadhaes chahu varanaa ko saajhaa || |
| The four castes - the Kh'shaatriyas, Brahmins, Soodras and Vaishyas - are equal in respect to the teachings. |
