| ਗੁਰੁ ਸਰਵਰੁ ਮਾਨ ਸਰੋਵਰੁ ਹੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਲਹੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ |
| gur saravar maan sarovar hai vaddabhaagee purakh lehannih || |
| The Guru is like the Mansarovar Lake; only the very fortunate beings find Him. |

| ਸੇਵਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਖੋਜਿਆ ਸੇ ਹੰਸੁਲੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਹੰਨਿ ॥੨॥ |
| saevak guramukh khojiaa sae hansulae naam lehann ||2|| |
| The Gurmukhs, the selfless servants, seek out the Guru; the swan-souls feed there on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2|| |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ |
| naam dhhiaaeinih rang sio guramukh naam lagannih || |
| The Gurmukhs meditate on the Naam, and remain linked to the Naam. |

| ਧੁਰਿ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਲਏਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੩॥ |
| dhhur poorab hovai likhiaa gur bhaanaa mann leaenih ||3|| |
| Whatever is pre-ordained, accept it as the Will of the Guru. ||3|| |

| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਘਰੁ ਖੋਜਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥ |
| vaddabhaagee ghar khojiaa paaeiaa naam nidhhaan || |
| By great good fortune, I searched my home, and found the treasure of the Naam. |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਵੇਖਾਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੁ ॥੪॥ |
| gur poorai vaekhaaliaa prabh aatham raam pashhaan ||4|| |
| The Perfect Guru has shown God to me; I have realized the Lord, the Supreme Soul. ||4|| |

| ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| sabhanaa kaa prabh eaek hai dhoojaa avar n koe || |
| There is One God of all; there is no other at all. |

| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥ |
| gur parasaadhee man vasai thith ghatt paragatt hoe ||5|| |
| By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to abide in the mind; in the heart of such a one, He is revealed. ||5|| |

| ਸਭੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਸਭ ਥਾਇ ॥ |
| sabh antharajaamee breham hai breham vasai sabh thhaae || |
| God is the Inner-knower of all hearts; God dwells in every place. |

| ਮੰਦਾ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੬॥ |
| mandhaa kis no aakheeai sabadh vaekhahu liv laae ||6|| |
| So who should we call evil? Behold the Word of the Shabad, and lovingly dwell upon it. ||6|| |

| ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਆਖਦਾ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਹੁ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| buraa bhalaa thichar aakhadhaa jichar hai dhuhu maahi || |
| He calls others bad and good, as long as he is in duality. |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੋ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਏਕਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੭॥ |
| guramukh eaeko bujhiaa eaekas maahi samaae ||7|| |
| The Gurmukh understands the One and Only Lord; He is absorbed in the One Lord. ||7|| |

| ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਸੀ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਏ ਥਾਇ ॥ |
| saevaa saa prabh bhaavasee jo prabh paaeae thhaae || |
| That is selfless service, which pleases God, and which is approved by God. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੮॥੨॥੪॥੯॥ |
| jan naanak har aaraadhhiaa gur charanee chith laae ||8||2||4||9|| |
| Servant Nanak worships the Lord in adoration; he focuses his consciousness on the Guru's Feet. ||8||2||4||9|| |

| koee aan milaavai maeraa preetham piaaraa ho this pehi aap vaechaaee ||1|| |
| If only someone would come, and lead me to meet my Darling Beloved; I would sell myself to him. ||1|| |

| ਦਰਸਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਣ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥ |
| dharasan har dhaekhan kai thaaee || |
| I long for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. |

| ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kirapaa karehi thaa sathigur maelehi har har naam dhhiaaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| When the Lord shows Mercy unto me, then I meet the True Guru; I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਅਰਾਧੀ ਦੁਖਿ ਭੀ ਤੁਝੈ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੨॥ |
| jae sukh dhaehi th thujhehi araadhhee dhukh bhee thujhai dhhiaaee ||2|| |
| If You will bless me with happiness, then I will worship and adore You. Even in pain, I will meditate on You. ||2|| |

| ਜੇ ਭੁਖ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਇਤ ਹੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੂਖ ਮਨਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| jae bhukh dhaehi th eith hee raajaa dhukh vich sookh manaaee ||3|| |
| Even if You give me hunger, I will still feel satisfied; I am joyful, even in the midst of sorrow. ||3|| |

| ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਕਾਟਿ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਭੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਅਗਨੀ ਆਪੁ ਜਲਾਈ ॥੪॥ |
| than man kaatt kaatt sabh arapee vich aganee aap jalaaee ||4|| |
| I would cut my mind and body apart into pieces, and offer them all to You; I would burn myself in fire. ||4|| |

| ਪਖਾ ਫੇਰੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਢੋਵਾ ਜੋ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਖਾਈ ॥੫॥ |
| pakhaa faeree paanee dtovaa jo dhaevehi so khaaee ||5|| |
| I wave the fan over You, and carry water for You; whatever You give me, I take. ||5|| |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗਰੀਬੁ ਢਹਿ ਪਇਆ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੬॥ |
| naanak gareeb dtehi paeiaa dhuaarai har mael laihu vaddiaaee ||6|| |
| Poor Nanak has fallen at the Lord's Door; please, O Lord, unite me with Yourself, by Your Glorious Greatness. ||6|| |

| ਅਖੀ ਕਾਢਿ ਧਰੀ ਚਰਣਾ ਤਲਿ ਸਭ ਧਰਤੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਤ ਪਾਈ ॥੭॥ |
| akhee kaadt dhharee charanaa thal sabh dhharathee fir math paaee ||7|| |
| Taking out my eyes, I place them at Your Feet; after travelling over the entire earth, I have come to understand this. ||7|| |

| ਜੇ ਪਾਸਿ ਬਹਾਲਹਿ ਤਾ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਅਰਾਧੀ ਜੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਢਹਿ ਭੀ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੮॥ |
| jae paas behaalehi thaa thujhehi araadhhee jae maar kadtehi bhee dhhiaaee ||8|| |
| If You seat me near You, then I worship and adore You. Even if You beat me and drive me out, I will still meditate on You. ||8|| |
 |
| ਜੇ ਲੋਕੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਤਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜੇ ਨਿੰਦੈ ਤ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੯॥ |
| jae lok salaahae thaa thaeree oupamaa jae nindhai th shhodd n jaaee ||9|| |
| If people praise me, the praise is Yours. Even if they slander me, I will not leave You. ||9|| |
 |
| ਜੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਤਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਹੁ ਆਖਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਸਰਿਐ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੦॥ |
| jae thudhh val rehai thaa koee kihu aakho thudhh visariai mar jaaee ||10|| |
| If You are on my side, then anyone can say anything. But if I were to forget You, then I would die. ||10|| |

| ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਪੈ ਪੈਰੀ ਸੰਤ ਮਨਾਈ ॥੧੧॥ |
| vaar vaar jaaee gur oopar pai pairee santh manaaee ||11|| |
| I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to my Guru; falling at His Feet, I surrender to the Saintly Guru. ||11|| |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਭਇਆ ਦਿਵਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਤਉ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥੧੨॥ |
| naanak vichaaraa bhaeiaa dhivaanaa har tho dharasan kai thaaee ||12|| |
| Poor Nanak has gone insane, longing for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||12|| |

| ਝਖੜੁ ਝਾਗੀ ਮੀਹੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਣ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੩॥ |
| jhakharr jhaagee meehu varasai bhee gur dhaekhan jaaee ||13|| |
| Even in violent storms and torrential rain, I go out to catch a glimpse of my Guru. ||13|| |

| ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਬਹੁ ਖਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਲੰਘਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੪॥ |
| samundh saagar hovai bahu khaaraa gurasikh langh gur pehi jaaee ||14|| |
| Even though the oceans and the salty seas are very vast, the GurSikh will cross over it to get to his Guru. ||14|| |

| ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੈ ਮਰਤਾ ਤਿਉ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੫॥ |
| jio praanee jal bin hai marathaa thio sikh gur bin mar jaaee ||15|| |
| Just as the mortal dies without water, so does the Sikh die without the Guru. ||15|| |
