| thoo sulathaan kehaa ho meeaa thaeree kavan vaddaaee || |
| You are the Emperor, and I call You a chief - how does this add to Your greatness? |

| ਜੋ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁ ਕਹਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| jo thoo dhaehi s kehaa suaamee mai moorakh kehan n jaaee ||1|| |
| As You permit me, I praise You, O Lord and Master; I am ignorant, and I cannot chant Your Praises. ||1|| |

| ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ |
| thaerae gun gaavaa dhaehi bujhaaee || |
| Please bless me with such understanding, that I may sing Your Glorious Praises. |

| ਜੈਸੇ ਸਚ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਉ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jaisae sach mehi reho rajaaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| May I dwell in Truth, according to Your Will. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਅਸਨਾਈ ॥ |
| jo kishh hoaa sabh kishh thujh thae thaeree sabh asanaaee || |
| Whatever has happened, has all come from You. You are All-knowing. |

| ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕਿਆ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| thaeraa anth n jaanaa maerae saahib mai andhhulae kiaa chathuraaee ||2|| |
| Your limits cannot be known, O my Lord and Master; I am blind - what wisdom do I have? ||2|| |

| ਕਿਆ ਹਉ ਕਥੀ ਕਥੇ ਕਥਿ ਦੇਖਾ ਮੈ ਅਕਥੁ ਨ ਕਥਨਾ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| kiaa ho kathhee kathhae kathh dhaekhaa mai akathh n kathhanaa jaaee || |
| What should I say? While talking, I talk of seeing, but I cannot describe the indescribable. |

| ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਆਖਾ ਤਿਲੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥ |
| jo thudhh bhaavai soee aakhaa thil thaeree vaddiaaee ||3|| |
| As it pleases Your Will, I speak; it is just the tiniest bit of Your greatness. ||3|| |
|
| ਏਤੇ ਕੂਕਰ ਹਉ ਬੇਗਾਨਾ ਭਉਕਾ ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਤਾਈ ॥ |
| eaethae kookar ho baegaanaa bhoukaa eis than thaaee || |
| Among so many dogs, I am an outcast; I bark for my body's belly. |

| ਭਗਤਿ ਹੀਣੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੇ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਤਾ ਖਸਮੈ ਨਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
| bhagath heen naanak jae hoeigaa thaa khasamai naao n jaaee ||4||1|| |
| Without devotional worship, O Nanak, even so, still, my Master's Name does not leave me. ||4||1|| |

| man mandhar than vaes kalandhar ghatt hee theerathh naavaa || |
| My mind is the temple, and my body is the simple cloth of the humble seeker; deep within my heart, I bathe at the sacred shrine. |

| ਏਕੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਾ ॥੧॥ |
| eaek sabadh maerai praan basath hai baahurr janam n aavaa ||1|| |
| The One Word of the Shabad abides within my mind; I shall not come to be born again. ||1|| |

| ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥ |
| man baedhhiaa dhaeiaal saethee maeree maaee || |
| My mind is pierced through by the Merciful Lord, O my mother! |

| ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਪੀਰ ਪਰਾਈ ॥ |
| koun jaanai peer paraaee || |
| Who can know the pain of another? |
|
| ਹਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਚਿੰਤ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥ |

| O Lord, inaccessible, unfathomable, invisible and infinite: please, take care of me! |

| ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| jal thhal meheeal bharipur leenaa ghatt ghatt joth thumhaaree ||2|| |
| In the water, on the land and in sky, You are totally pervading. Your Light is in each and every heart. ||2|| |

| ਸਿਖ ਮਤਿ ਸਭ ਬੁਧਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਛਾਵਾ ਤੇਰੇ ॥ |
| sikh math sabh budhh thumhaaree mandhir shhaavaa thaerae || |
| All teachings, instructions and understandings are Yours; the mansions and sanctuaries are Yours as well. |

| ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਨਿਤ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੩॥ |
| thujh bin avar n jaanaa maerae saahibaa gun gaavaa nith thaerae ||3|| |
| Without You, I know no other, O my Lord and Master; I continually sing Your Glorious Praises. ||3|| |

| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ਸਰਬ ਚਿੰਤ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਾਸੇ ॥ |
| jeea janth sabh saran thumhaaree sarab chinth thudhh paasae || |
| All beings and creatures seek the Protection of Your Sanctuary; all thought of their care rests with You. |

| ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਇਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸੇ ॥੪॥੨॥ |
| jo thudhh bhaavai soee changaa eik naanak kee aradhaasae ||4||2|| |
| That which pleases Your Will is good; this alone is Nanak's prayer. ||4||2|| |

| He Himself created the creation, and He Himself beholds His almighty power. |
