| One finds God, the Ocean of Peace, when destiny is activated. |

| ਮਾਨਨਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਵਞਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| maanan maan vanjaaeeai har charanee laago raam || |
| Abandoning the distinctions of honor and dishonor, grasp the Feet of the Lord. |

| ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਚਾਤੁਰੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਤਿਆਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| shhodd siaanap chaathuree dhuramath budhh thiaago raam || |
| Renounce cleverness and trickery, and forsake your evil-minded intellect. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਪਉ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਹਾਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak po saranaaee raam raae thhir hoe suhaago raam ||1|| |
| O Nanak, seek the Sanctuary of the Sovereign Lord, Your King, and your marriage will be permanent and stable. ||1|| |

| ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਜਿ ਕਤ ਲਾਗੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| so prabh thaj kath laageeai jis bin mar jaaeeai raam || |
| Why forsake God, and attach yourself to another? Without the Lord, you cannot even live. |

| ਲਾਜ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਬਿਰਮਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| laaj n aavai agiaan mathee dhurajan biramaaeeai raam || |
| The ignorant fool does not feel any shame; the evil man wanders around deluded. |

| ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਤ ਠਹਰਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| pathith paavan prabh thiaag karae kahu kath theharaaeeai raam || |
| God is the Purifier of sinners; if he forsakes God, tell me, where he can find a place of rest? |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆਲ ਕੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak bhagath bhaao kar dhaeiaal kee jeevan padh paaeeai raam ||2|| |
| O Nanak, by loving devotional worship of the Merciful Lord, he attains the state of eternal life. ||2|| |

| ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ਨ ਉਚਰਹਿ ਬਲਿ ਗਈਏ ਦੁਹਚਾਰਣਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |

| May that vicious tongue that does not chant the Name of the Great Lord of the World, be burnt. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਨਹ ਸੇਵਹੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਕ ਗ੍ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |

| One who does not serve God, the Lover of His devotees, shall have his body eaten by crows. |

| ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਜਾਣਹੀ ਕੋਟਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਬਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| bhram mohee dhookh n jaanehee kott jonee basanaa raam || |
| Enticed by doubt, he does not understand the pain it brings; he wanders through millions of incarnations. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਜਿ ਚਾਹਨਾ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਮ ਭਸਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak bin har avar j chaahanaa bisattaa kiram bhasamaa raam ||3|| |
| O Nanak, if you desire anything other than the Lord, you shall be consumed, like a maggot in manure. ||3|| |

| ਲਾਇ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸੰਗੇ ਹੋਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਬੈਰਾਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥ |

| Embrace love for the Lord God, and in detachment, unite with Him. |

| ਚੰਦਨ ਚੀਰ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਰਸਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਿਆਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| chandhan cheer sugandhh rasaa houmai bikh thiaagan raam || |
| Give up your sandalwood oil, expensive clothes, perfumes, tasty flavors and the poison of egotism. |
|
| ਈਤ ਊਤ ਨਹ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਾਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| eeth ooth neh ddoleeai har saevaa jaagan raam || |
| Do not waver this way or that, but remain wakeful in the service of the Lord. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾ ਅਟਲ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥ |

| O Nanak, she who has obtained her God, is a happy soul-bride forever. ||4||1||4|| |

| Seek the Lord, O fortunate ones, and join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. |

| ਗੁਨ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਸਦ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| gun govidh sadh gaaeeahi paarabreham kai rangae raam || |
| Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe forever, imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God. |
|
| ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ਫਲ ਮੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| so prabh sadh hee saeveeai paaeeahi fal mangae raam || |
| Serving God forever, you shall obtain the fruitful rewards you desire. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜਪਿ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak prabh saranaagathee jap anath tharangae raam ||1|| |
| O Nanak, seek the Sanctuary of God; meditate on the Lord, and ride the many waves of the mind. ||1|| |

| ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| eik thil prabhoo n veesarai jin sabh kishh dheenaa raam || |
| I shall not forget God, even for an instant; He has blessed me with everything. |

| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮੇਲਾਵੜਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| vaddabhaagee maelaavarraa guramukh pir cheenhaa raam || |
| By great good fortune, I have met Him; as Gurmukh, I contemplate my Husband Lord. |

| ਬਾਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਤਮ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਲੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |

| Holding me by the arm, He has lifted me up and pulled me out of the darkness, and made me His own. |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵੈ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥ |
| naam japath naanak jeevai seethal man seenaa raam ||2|| |
| Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Nanak lives; his mind and heart are cooled and soothed. ||2|| |

| ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ |

| What virtues of Yours can I speak, O God, O Searcher of hearts? |

| ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੈ ਭਏ ਪਾਰਗਰਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ |

| Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Lord, I have crossed over to the other shore. |

| ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| gun gaavath govindh kae sabh eishh pujaamee raam || |
| Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, all my desires are fulfilled. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰੇ ਸਭਹੂ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak oudhharae jap harae sabhehoo kaa suaamee raam ||3|| |
| Nanak is saved, meditating on the Lord, the Lord and Master of all. ||3|| |

| ਰਸ ਭਿੰਨਿਅੜੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਸੰਗੇ ਸੇ ਲੋਇਣ ਨੀਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| ras bhinniarrae apunae raam sangae sae loein neekae raam || |
| Sublime are those eyes, which are drenched with the Love of the Lord. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਤ ਇਛਾ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਜੀ ਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| prabh paekhath eishhaa punneeaa mil saajan jee kae raam || |
| Gazing upon God, my desires are fulfilled; I have met the Lord, the Friend of my soul. |

| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਸ ਫੀਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| anmrith ras har paaeiaa bikhiaa ras feekae raam || |
| I have obtained the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Love, and now the taste of corruption is insipid and tasteless to me. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਲੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੀਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੨॥੫॥੯॥ |
| naanak jal jalehi samaaeiaa jothee joth meekae raam ||4||2||5||9|| |
| O Nanak, as water mingles with water, my light has merged into the Light. ||4||2||5||9|| |
