| Blessed is the Lord of the World. Blessed is the Divine Guru. |

| ਧੰਨੁ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਭੂਖੇ ਕਵਲੁ ਟਹਕੇਵ ॥ |
| dhhann anaadh bhookhae kaval ttehakaev || |
| Blessed is that grain, by which the heart-lotus of the hungry blossoms forth. |

| ਧਨੁ ਓਇ ਸੰਤ ਜਿਨ ਐਸੀ ਜਾਨੀ ॥ |
| dhhan oue santh jin aisee jaanee || |
| Blessed are those Saints, who know this. |
 |
| ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਬੋ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ |
| thin ko milibo saaringapaanee ||1|| |
| Meeting with them, one meets the Lord, the Sustainer of the World. ||1|| |

| ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਅਨਾਦਿ ॥ |
| aadh purakh thae hoe anaadh || |
| This grain comes from the Primal Lord God. |
 |
| ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਨ ਕੈ ਸਾਦਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| japeeai naam ann kai saadh ||1|| rehaao || |
| One chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, only when he tastes this grain. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਅੰਨੁ ॥ |
| japeeai naam japeeai ann || |
| Meditate on the Naam, and meditate on this grain. |
 |
| ਅੰਭੈ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੀਕਾ ਵੰਨੁ ॥ |
| anbhai kai sang neekaa vann || |
| Mixed with water, its taste becomes sublime. |
 |
| ਅੰਨੈ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜੋ ਨਰ ਹੋਵਹਿ ॥ |
| annai baahar jo nar hovehi || |
| One who abstains from this grain, |
 |
| ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਖੋਵਹਿ ॥੨॥ |
| theen bhavan mehi apanee khovehi ||2|| |
| loses his honor in the three worlds. ||2|| |
 |
| ਛੋਡਹਿ ਅੰਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਾਖੰਡ ॥ |
| shhoddehi ann karehi paakhandd || |
| One who discards this grain, is practicing hypocrisy. |
 |
| ਨਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਨਾ ਓਹਿ ਰੰਡ ॥ |
| naa sohaagan naa ouhi randd || |
| She is neither a happy soul-bride, nor a widow. |
 |
| ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਬਕਤੇ ਦੂਧਾਧਾਰੀ ॥ |
| jag mehi bakathae dhoodhhaadhhaaree || |
| Those who claim in this world that they live on milk alone, |
 |
| ਗੁਪਤੀ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਵਟਿਕਾ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ |
| gupathee khaavehi vattikaa saaree ||3|| |
| secretly eat whole loads of food. ||3|| |
 |
| ਅੰਨੈ ਬਿਨਾ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਕਾਲੁ ॥ |
| annai binaa n hoe sukaal || |
| Without this grain, time does not pass in peace. |
 |
| ਤਜਿਐ ਅੰਨਿ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਪਾਲੁ ॥ |
| thajiai ann n milai gupaal || |
| Forsaking this grain, one does not meet the Lord of the World. |
 |
| ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਮ ਐਸੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ |

| The ritual sacrifice of horses, |
 |
| ਤੁਲਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾਨੇ ॥ |

| giving one's weight in gold to charities |
 |
| ਪ੍ਰਾਗ ਇਸਨਾਨੇ ॥੧॥ |

| and ceremonial cleansing baths -||1|| |

| ਤਉ ਨ ਪੁਜਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ |

| These are not equal to singing the Praises of the Lord's Name. |

| ਅਪੁਨੇ ਰਾਮਹਿ ਭਜੁ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਆਲਸੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| Meditate on your Lord, you lazy man! ||1||Pause|| |

| Offering sweet rice at Gaya, |

| ਬਨਾਰਸਿ ਅਸਿ ਬਸਤਾ ॥ |
| banaaras as basathaa || |
| living on the river banks at Benares, |
 |
| ਮੁਖਿ ਬੇਦ ਚਤੁਰ ਪੜਤਾ ॥੨॥ |
| mukh baedh chathur parrathaa ||2|| |
| reciting the four Vedas by heart;||2|| |
 |
| ਸਗਲ ਧਰਮ ਅਛਿਤਾ ॥ |
| sagal dhharam ashhithaa || |
| Completing all religious rituals, |
 |
| ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ॥ |
| gur giaan eindhree dhrirrathaa || |
| restraining sexual passion by the spiritual wisdom given by the Guru, |
 |
| ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮ ਸਹਿਤ ਰਹਤਾ ॥੩॥ |
| khatt karam sehith rehathaa ||3|| |
| and performing the six rituals;||3|| |
 |
| ਸਿਵਾ ਸਕਤਿ ਸੰਬਾਦੰ ॥ |
| sivaa sakath sanbaadhan || |
| Expounding on Shiva and Shakti |
 |
| ਮਨ ਛੋਡਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਗਲ ਭੇਦੰ ॥ |
| man shhodd shhodd sagal bhaedhan || |
| O man, renounce and abandon all these things. |
 |
| ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੰ ॥ |
| simar simar gobindhan || |
| Meditate, meditate in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe. |
 |
| ਭਜੁ ਨਾਮਾ ਤਰਸਿ ਭਵ ਸਿੰਧੰ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
| bhaj naamaa tharas bhav sindhhan ||4||1|| |
| Meditate, O Naam Dayv, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||4||1|| |

| ਨਾਦ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਮਿਰਗਾਏ ॥ |

| The deer is lured by the sound of the hunter's bell; |
 |
| ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਜੇ ਵਾ ਕੋ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥ |
| praan thajae vaa ko dhhiaan n jaaeae ||1|| |
| it loses its life, but it cannot stop thinking about it. ||1|| |

| ਐਸੇ ਰਾਮਾ ਐਸੇ ਹੇਰਉ ॥ |
| aisae raamaa aisae haero || |
| In the same way, I look upon my Lord. |
 |
| ਰਾਮੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਫੇਰਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| raam shhodd chith anath n faero ||1|| rehaao || |
| I will not abandon my Lord, and turn my thoughts to another. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਿਉ ਮੀਨਾ ਹੇਰੈ ਪਸੂਆਰਾ ॥ |
| jio meenaa haerai pasooaaraa || |
| As the fisherman looks upon the fish, |
 |
| ਸੋਨਾ ਗਢਤੇ ਹਿਰੈ ਸੁਨਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ |
| sonaa gadtathae hirai sunaaraa ||2|| |
| and the goldsmith looks upon the gold he fashions;||2|| |
 |
| ਜਿਉ ਬਿਖਈ ਹੇਰੈ ਪਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥ |
| jio bikhee haerai par naaree || |
| As the man driven by sex looks upon another man's wife, |
 |
| ਕਉਡਾ ਡਾਰਤ ਹਿਰੈ ਜੁਆਰੀ ॥੩॥ |
| kouddaa ddaarath hirai juaaree ||3|| |
| and the gambler looks upon the throwing of the dice -||3|| |
 |
| ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਰਾਮਾ ॥ |
| jeh jeh dhaekho theh theh raamaa || |
| In the same way, wherever Naam Dayv looks, he sees the Lord. |
 |
| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੪॥੨॥ |
| har kae charan nith dhhiaavai naamaa ||4||2|| |
| Naam Dayv meditates continuously on the Feet of the Lord. ||4||2|| |

| Carry me across, O Lord, carry me across. |

| ਮੈ ਅਜਾਨੁ ਜਨੁ ਤਰਿਬੇ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ਬਾਪ ਬੀਠੁਲਾ ਬਾਹ ਦੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| mai ajaan jan tharibae n jaano baap beethulaa baah dhae ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am ignorant, and I do not know how to swim. O my Beloved Father, please give me Your arm. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਰ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਤ ਨਿਮਖ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ॥ |
| nar thae sur hoe jaath nimakh mai sathigur budhh sikhalaaee || |
| I have been transformed from a mortal being into an angel, in an instant; the True Guru has taught me this. |

| ਨਰ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿ ਸੁਰਗ ਕਉ ਜੀਤਿਓ ਸੋ ਅਵਖਧ ਮੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| nar thae oupaj surag ko jeethiou so avakhadhh mai paaee ||1|| |
| Born of human flesh, I have conquered the heavens; such is the medicine I was given. ||1|| |

| ਜਹਾ ਜਹਾ ਧੂਅ ਨਾਰਦੁ ਟੇਕੇ ਨੈਕੁ ਟਿਕਾਵਹੁ ਮੋਹਿ ॥ |
| jehaa jehaa dhhooa naaradh ttaekae naik ttikaavahu mohi || |
| Please place me where You placed Dhroo and Naarad, O my Master. |

| ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਅਵਿਲੰਬਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਜਨ ਉਧਰੇ ਨਾਮੇ ਕੀ ਨਿਜ ਮਤਿ ਏਹ ॥੨॥੩॥ |
| thaerae naam avilanb bahuth jan oudhharae naamae kee nij math eaeh ||2||3|| |
| With the Support of Your Name, so many have been saved; this is Naam Dayv's understanding. ||2||3|| |
