ਰਾਮ ਜਨ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਬੋਲਾਇ ॥ |
raam jan guramath raam bolaae || |
O humble servant of the Lord, follow the Guru's Teachings, and chant the Name of the Lord. |

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸੁਣੈ ਕਹੈ ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਜਪਤ ਸੋਹਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
jo jo sunai kehai so mukathaa raam japath sohaae ||1|| rehaao || |
Whoever hears and speaks it is liberated; chanting the Lord's Name, one is embellished with beauty. ||1||Pause|| |

ਜੇ ਵਡ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਜਨਾ ਭੇਟਾਇ ॥ |
jae vadd bhaag hovehi mukh masathak har raam janaa bhaettaae || |
If someone has supremely high destiny written on his forehead, the Lord leads him to meet the humble servants of the Lord. |

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਦੇਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਭੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
dharasan santh dhaehu kar kirapaa sabh dhaaladh dhukh lehi jaae ||2|| |
Be merciful, and grant me the Blessed Vision of the Saints' Darshan, which shall rid me of all poverty and pain. ||2|| |

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗ ਰਾਮ ਜਨ ਨੀਕੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਨ ਸੁਖਾਇ ॥ |
har kae log raam jan neekae bhaageheen n sukhaae || |
The Lord's people are good and sublime; the unfortunate ones do not like them at all. |

ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਹਿ ਜਨ ਊਚੇ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਡੰਸੁ ਲਗਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
jio jio raam kehehi jan oochae nar nindhak ddans lagaae ||3|| |
The more the Lord's exalted servants speak of Him, the more the slanderers attack and sting them. ||3|| |

ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਜਿਨ ਜਨ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸਖਾ ਸਖਾਇ ॥ |
dhhrig dhhrig nar nindhak jin jan nehee bhaaeae har kae sakhaa sakhaae || |
Cursed, cursed are the slanderers who do not like the humble, the friends and companions of the Lord. |

ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚੋਰ ਵੇਮੁਖ ਮੁਖ ਕਾਲੇ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਨ ਭਾਇ ॥੪॥ |
sae har kae chor vaemukh mukh kaalae jin gur kee paij n bhaae ||4|| |
Those who do not like the honor and glory of the Guru are faithless, black-faced thieves, who have turned their backs on the Lord. ||4|| |

ਦਇਆ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਹਮ ਦੀਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥ |
dhaeiaa dhaeiaa kar raakhahu har jeeo ham dheen thaeree saranaae || |
Have mercy, have mercy, please save me, Dear Lord. I am meek and humble - I seek Your protection. |

ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੁਮ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੫॥੨॥ |
ham baarik thum pithaa prabh maerae jan naanak bakhas milaae ||5||2|| |
I am Your child, and You are my father, God. Please forgive servant Nanak and merge him with Yourself. ||5||2|| |

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸਖਾ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਨੀਕੇ ਤਿਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਵਤਾਵੈ ॥ |
har kae sakhaa saadhh jan neekae thin oopar haathh vathaavai || |
The friends of the Lord, the humble, Holy Saints are sublime; the Lord spreads out His protecting hands above them. |

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੇਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਏ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
guramukh saadhh saeee prabh bhaaeae kar kirapaa aap milaavai ||1|| |
The Gurmukhs are the Holy Saints, pleasing to God; in His mercy, He blends them with Himself. ||1|| |

ਰਾਮ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ |
raam mo ko har jan mael man bhaavai || |
O Lord, my mind longs to meet with the humble servants of the Lord. |

ਅਮਿਉ ਅਮਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਹੈ ਮੀਠਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
amio amio har ras hai meethaa mil santh janaa mukh paavai ||1|| rehaao || |
The sweet, subtle essence of the Lord is immortalizing ambrosia. Meeting the Saints, I drink it in. ||1||Pause|| |

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗ ਰਾਮ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਮਿਲਿ ਊਤਮ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
har kae log raam jan ootham mil ootham padhavee paavai || |
The Lord's people are the most lofty and exalted. Meeting with them, the most exalted status is obtained. |

ਹਮ ਹੋਵਤ ਚੇਰੀ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਖੁਸੀ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ |
ham hovath chaeree dhaas dhaasan kee maeraa thaakur khusee karaavai ||2|| |
I am the slave of the slave of the Lord's slaves; my Lord and Master is pleased with me. ||2|| |

ਸੇਵਕ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਰਿਦ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥ |
saevak jan saevehi sae vaddabhaagee ridh man than preeth lagaavai || |
The humble servant serves; one who enshrines love for the Lord in his heart, mind and body is very fortunate. |

ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਤਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਕੂੜੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ |
bin preethee karehi bahu baathaa koorr bol koorro fal paavai ||3|| |
One who talks too much without love, speaks falsely, and obtains only false rewards. ||3|| |

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਧਾਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਪਗੀ ਲੇ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
mo ko dhhaar kirapaa jagajeevan dhaathae har santh pagee lae paavai || |
Take pity on me, O Lord of the World, O Great Giver; let me fall at the feet of the Saints. |

ਹਉ ਕਾਟਉ ਕਾਟਿ ਬਾਢਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਉ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤੁ ਚੜਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੪॥੩॥ |
ho kaatto kaatt baadt sir raakho jith naanak santh charr aavai ||4||3|| |
I would cut off my head, and cut it into pieces, O Nanak, and set it down for the Saints to walk upon. ||4||3|| |

ਜੇ ਵਡ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਵਡ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਦਿਆ ਢਿਲ ਨ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ |
jae vadd bhaag hovehi vadd maerae jan miladhiaa dtil n laaeeai || |
If I am blessed with supreme high destiny, I will meet the humble servants of the Lord, without delay. |

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੁੰਟ ਸਰ ਨੀਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਤਿਤੁ ਨਾਵਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ |
har jan anmrith kuntt sar neekae vaddabhaagee thith naavaaeeai ||1|| |
The Lord's humble servants are pools of ambrosial nectar; by great good fortune, one bathes in them. ||1|| |

ਰਾਮ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ |
raam mo ko har jan kaarai laaeeai || |
O Lord, let me work for the humble servants of the Lord. |
|
ਹਉ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਖਾ ਪੀਸਉ ਸੰਤ ਆਗੈ ਪਗ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
ho paanee pakhaa peeso santh aagai pag mal mal dhhoor mukh laaeeai ||1|| rehaao || |
I carry water, wave the fan and grind the corn for them; I massage and wash their feet. I apply the dust of their feet to my forehead. ||1||Pause|| |

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਵਡ ਊਚੇ ਜੋ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈਐ ॥ |
har jan vaddae vaddae vadd oochae jo sathagur mael milaaeeai || |
The Lord's humble servants are great, very great, the greatest and most exalted; they lead us to meet the True Guru. |

ਸਤਗੁਰ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੨॥ |
sathagur jaevadd avar n koee mil sathagur purakh dhhiaaeeai ||2|| |
No one else is as great as the True Guru; meeting the True Guru, I meditate on the Lord, the Primal Being. ||2|| |

ਸਤਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਾਈਐ ॥ |
sathagur saran parae thin paaeiaa maerae thaakur laaj rakhaaeeai || |
Those who seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru find the Lord. My Lord and Master saves their honor. |

ਇਕਿ ਅਪਣੈ ਸੁਆਇ ਆਇ ਬਹਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਗੁਲ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਈਐ ॥੩॥ |
eik apanai suaae aae behehi gur aagai jio bagul samaadhh lagaaeeai ||3|| |
Some come for their own purposes, and sit before the Guru; they pretend to be in Samaadhi, like storks with their eyes closed. ||3|| |

ਬਗੁਲਾ ਕਾਗ ਨੀਚ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਕਰੰਗ ਬਿਖੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ |
bagulaa kaag neech kee sangath jaae karang bikhoo mukh laaeeai || |
Associating with the wretched and the lowly, like the stork and the crow, is like feeding on a carcass of poison. |

ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੰਸੁ ਕਰਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੪॥ |
naanak mael mael prabh sangath mil sangath hans karaaeeai ||4||4|| |
Nanak: O God, unite me with the Sangat, the Congregation. United with the Sangat, I will become a swan. ||4||4|| |
